To the one that demands proof that God exists...Does creation exist? Does life show signs that a creator exists?
Life was not always here. It came from something. Something caused it. If it is your theory that the formation of life is a natural process then show me how the natural process turns non-living matter into complex chemical machines without any pre-existing life.
Why is it that all those who belief life was created automatically think it was this almighty invincible spirit force who did it?? Think about how far science has come in the past 100 years. Now imagine what will be possible 100 years from now. I'm not sure where I stand on the creation vs. evolution issue, but I do know the God of the Bible or the Koran is a highly debatable being for all the reasons stated above. The Almighty Being of this universe would logically have a known way of worshipping him that was NOT left up to humans to decipher and interpret. Just as Bush is president of the USA it would be that clear for all of the world. Face it, any creator or inventor wants recognition of their product. You think "God" is any different??? It's hard for me to believe He would let so much injustice happen in his name, so much so that a lot question His existence.
Interesting article. I think Bush's professed Christianity is simply for show. He can get more support from right wing Republicans who tend to be more religious than left wing liberals and democrats. So he puts up a show of being religious to gain their support.

Let America run the world and then everything will be okay. Leave it up to us and the global murder per capita rate will increase 10 fold, all senior citizens will be broke and sick and we'll all be dead in 50 years due to natural disasters that could be prevented if we were smart enough to focus on environmental issues now.
I'm exaggerating a bit, but you get the point. Democracy definitely has it's advantages and it is a proven effective way to govern people, but that doesn't automatically put America in this super-duper holier-than-thou category either.
Appreciate it's good things, realize the things that need to be addressed. This country could be a lot better than it currently is. The American people need to realize this and take it upon themselves to make some changes for the better happen. How to do this remains to be proven - our votes have been proven not to be a deciding factor in a presidential election and protests don't mean a damn thing, so we'll have to resort to another means, whatever that may be.

I think plans are being developed and set into place to take out N. Korea pre-emptively. He's asking for it in my opinion. How to take him out without him firing off his nukes first is the whole problem.
This is all just really strange to me because the threat of a nuke being used anywhere in the world is quite high right now and it's scary when I really think about it. It would be the biggest thing covered in the media to date. The nukes in Japan took out hundreds of thousands, but a nuke today could take out 1 million +. That's a LOT OF CARNAGE. The pyschological effects of that on the world would be tremendous, not to mention the thought of how the country who was bombed would react.

If USA goes to war, I think the chances are high it'll end w/ a nuke.
Think about it, if Sadaam has hidden weapons (which he more than likely does), he WILL use them.
The USA will start off fighting conventially, but the second WMD's are used, I seriously doubt they'll continue to fight w/ conventional weapons. No matter how ya look at it, it ain't gonna be pretty. What if all his soldiers give up on the first day? Sadaam will gas them along w/ the troops that come in to round them up.
When it's all over, will Sadaam finally no longer be a threat and the world a much better place?
Time will tell - crunch time is right around the corner.

Yeah, Patterson is the GB's retirement resort IMO. Before I went to Brooklyn I worked there for a month, and then while in Brooklyn I commuted back and forth for awhile working on a computer project. There wasn't really much going on there besides the Gilead stuff...a few of the departments were moving from Brooklyn to up there, but it's been so long now I forget which ones - Art maybe? Yeah, i think it was...I liked Patterson a lot because it was so close to where I was born (Connecticut) and it was indeed a nice break from the NYC city life.
But I couldn't help but wonder how worldwide contributions could support such enormous, elaborate establishments. Most congregations I've been affiliated with barely covered their monthly expenses, and I for one never donated a whole lot to the WWW. It always seemed fishy to me and still does.
Who knows how much money the GB has personally, however I know they enjoy their postions. Their needs are more than taken care of. They travel the world for free, and everywhere they go they are treated like superstars. (I always thought it was interesting how they ALWAYS picked the nice carribean islands and countries to visit). They may or may not have a lot of money personally, however they never have to be concerned about it because they get anything they want for free, and the dubs contributions certainly make all of that possible.

however, for the benefit of those looking on and wondering where the truth really lies, i figured i'd say a few things.. back2dafront made quite a spiel over on another thread about how terrible it is to serve in the armed forces, and i must say that the tears of purple koolade were just pouring down my cheeks in rivers.

Coming from someone who does not consider himself to be in any particular political category whatsoever, I've looked at as much information as possible and what I've learned is that the USA is NOT dependent on Iraqi oil. In fact, this war will be far more costly than any oil proceeds they may hope to gain when they take over shop. Maybe 5 years down the road they may see profit.?? Who knows.
What I have learned however is that Iraq is not reaping the full benefit of the goldmine they are sitting on because they lack the money and technology needed to devote to it. Either that or Sadaam chooses to use the money for other selfish ambitions. At any rate, the USA could very well take advantage of this fact after setting up in Iraq after the war.
Yes, the US does have the capability to annhilate Iraq many times over, with help from no one. That we haven't and instead, are seeking support from others and involving the UN blows holes in many claims of the protestors.
You and I both know Bush would be a fool to charge into Iraq without the compliance of the UN. He knows he's accountable to the world for his actions, superpower or not. He's got enough problems, the last thing he wants is the world taking action against him for taking out Iraq prematurely. And what claims exactly does this blow holes in?
If you are really going to protest {or support this war}, at least be accurate about what you are protesting and realize that others may again pay dire consequences for your actions.

The act of an adult sleeping (as in literally falling asleep) with a child in the bed is not a crime.
Due to the abundance of abuse in the world, we are programmed to immediately question anyone's motives in regards to any interaction with children, and we forget that such things are perfectly normal to children. Children love to snuggle with each other or a protecting adult - it's instinctual, shoot...my CAT insists on crawling in the bed with us every night.
Granted, there ARE sick perverts in the world who take advantage of children's innocence and turn it into something sexual, but is it a totally impossible feat that an adult could have pure motives for doing such? Could these kids have been close friends of his? Have you ever babysat before and had a frightened kid wake up in the middle of the night during a nightmare and insist in being in your presence, at least until they fell back asleep?
Some people are so quick to judge. It's like they enjoy criticizing others and finding faults in others. Calling them names. These are the type people that generally have low self-esteems, so they boost themselves up by criticizing others.
There's no question Michael leads a very different life than most. It's also quite evident that he is now a product of his upbringing, fame and mental state. Period. YOU don't know what it's like and never will. I KNOW what it's like for people with mental illnesses. It's CRAZY...their minds do not function the way ours does, and what's worse is that instead of sympathy they get the opposite - ridicule. And when you are constantly ridiculed, it's very crushing, especially if it is over something you cannot help. (I was picked on a LOT as a kid and it had long lasting effects).
I think he reaches out to children so much because he understands how impressionable they are. What you experience as a child shapes your character as an adult - they learn EVERYTHING from adults. Everything we do and say is watched closely, and they imitate us as well - we are their role models. Is he trying to teach kids to sleep with random adults? I highly doubt it. I think he's wishing for a world where things like that can happen and nobody questions it, because only adults with PROBLEMS actually make something sexual out of it. He's trying to be their grown-up friend. That's my take. I think if he had actually molested any child he'd be in jail right now. But he's a really sensitive person, and I don't think he'd want to hurt anyone, and he especially knows the hurt of abuse.
I feel sorry for him and a lot of celebrities who can never ever have one moments privacy. Everything they do and say is broadcast to the world - those who are freaks are glamorized and the real sincere ones receive little recognition or worse yet are criticized and called "wackjobs."

I'm a firm believer in Karma. What comes around goes around. You make your own bed. Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. What you say and do reflects a lot on your character. etc etc etc.

a recent death in my family triggered my worst fear - as irrational as it may sound - into a very real possibility.. let me explain: as a global culture, we simply accept that when someone dies, those who care about them will want to gather and offer a meaningful tribute to the person and those who survive them.
with regard to my recently deceased family member - her own children decided against holding a memorial service for her surviving family, which included two children and their respective spouses, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
yes, we are spread out over 2000 miles.
my worse fear is dying before being able to look my first son or daughter in the eyes.
I look forward to the day when we will have children SO much, and I'm confident our child/children will be beautiful, wonderful kids. It would crush my g/f so much if I were to pass before any of that could become reality.
We're both very anxious, but we need to wait until we establish ourselves firmly, secularly and educationally. (sp?)
