Hi Seeker 4 and Lori, Good to see you on here again. I've been off for a while too, but recently started reading and posting again. I was to the point where I thought I'd viewed just about everything there needs to be known about the Watchtower Society, and then I come back and get blown away again. So, it's good to come back and meet the new people and here new stories and new info once in a while.
Minimus is still here, and Coffee Black posts occasionally, too, so I imagine they will pop in on you soon. Welcome back, you guys.

thanks once again to all of those who post in this forum.
and good bye to those of you who choose to leave.. the healing process of exiting a cult is a slow one.
specially if you were born in it.
Sometimes, I get to the point that I think I've found everything I need to know about the Watchtower Organization, and don't really need to be here anymore. Then, after some time, I come back and read for a while and find another subject that just totally blows me away! Like, the no blood issue with pets! I mean, are pets baptized Jehovah Witnessses? Jeeze! Give me a break!
This is "something new" I found here, and I may be able to use this topic in the future, and also I am sure there is a lot more that I still don't know about that I will come across, while reading on this forum. I'm staying.

a short update on my situation.. i am still in, trying to help my family to see the light.
my wife is open to critisize certain aspects of the wts, reads wt articles with a critical mind, but she still views them as gods org, and at times can get quit defensive about it.. last night though, she seemed devastated about a program she watched, reagrding pedophiles (dateline i guess).
she was very disturbed, even to the point of being depressed.
Seeing the child abuse issue seems to bother her, try sticking to that topic. See if you can get her to do a search on Jehovah Witness child abuse, just to see if anything comes up. Tell her you believe there isn't anything there, but have her look it up to "confirm" your feelings. Test it out yourself first, and if you find anything that may help in the case of j.w. abuse, then give her a hint on how to find it.
Also, find out if she has any other issues. Maybe you can "suggest" how to research them. Do this discreetly, though. Don't push too fast.

just wondering!.
i know many would say ''why the hell would you do that?".
just wondering if i could actually get hard copies of some stuff for a 'donation' and not have to hunt it down.... mind you, i'd have a hard time making myself look conservative!.
I've picked up lots of books at used book stores. Even a couple at Salvation Army stores.
Some of the books I have are... "You can live forever", cc.1982......"Revelation", cc.1988....."Things in which it is impossible for God to lie", cc.1965....."Life" by Rutherford, cc.1929...."Deliverance" by Rutherford, cc.1926....."Salvation" by Rutherford, cc.1929....with pic and info on Beth-Sarim, and numerous other books.
Go on line and search for used book stores, and have fun. I did.

no call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!
Ooompa, sorry to hear about this. I hope you are up and around soon.
As you recuperate, this would be a good time to write a really good "Letter to the Editor", and print out a few hundred copies and send them out to newspapers as soon as you're well enough, as Satanus just said.
Hubert
even if it were just four or five good singers that practice during the week and get to know the new songbook well, this would benefit the whole congregation.
music is such a vital part of the overall emotional connection to the gathering, a well-rehearsed choir singing along with the congregation would encourage and uplift, don't you think?.
what is the society's reasoning for not doing this?.
As some here said, anything to be different from Christendom churches..... Cross/stake....blood/ no blood.....organ transplants/organ transplants...huh?

i went to a catholic funeral yesterday.
there was no wake, only a mass and the burial and military honors at the cemetery.
although it was not a relative, my j.w.
BEBU !!! What a nice surprise. I haven't seen you in here for such a long time, although I've sotra been on a sabatical myself, until a couple months ago. Welcome back !
I did send her an E-mail, and almost exactly with what you said to do. I painstakingly wrote it so not to "offend" her and her hubby. Thanks for verifying the right approach as for my own situation. If she responds to that E-mail, I'll suggest her sending a card or flowers. Good idea, Bebu.
Pirata....Thanks for that paragraph. I'll copy/paste it and print it out, for future use. Seeing you gave the reference, I can look it up on the W.T. library cd to verify it, too.
Black Sheep....Thanks, I agree, it puts pressure on them not to "stumble"....one of their favorite terms.
I was never a j.w., so I have no guilt feelings about her being in. She has an Aunt who is in, and she is the one who drew her into the cult, along with a lot of help from the Aunt's two J.W. daughters. (at my father-in-law's funeral, no less). Great opportunity for them to witness.
Garyneal....Thanks for all that "reading material". I'll sit back and indulge that very soon.

Snoozy said....."ps..Why are you covering for your daughter? She should pay any consequences for her actions if she is a JW.."
Because, if I made a sly remark to her about not being there, it would only push her deeper into the cult. I am not even sure if she is baptized into it yet. That's how secret this cult is. I don't want to take a chance of losing my daughter to this cult. We are on good terms so far, and I plan to try to keep it that way. I can't reach her and her hubby, if I turn her away from me.
It does hurt when she does this to us, but we have to be careful that we don't lose her fully to the cult. We really love our daughter and husband, and don't want to lose what we still have with them.
