My favourite quote from one of Terry's pieces:
"People die for the Brooklyn whims and call it service to God! That is awful and unnecessary." -

How Reliable are "Messianic" Prophecies?
by gumby inbible supporters feel they have an ace-in-the-hole with the discovery of the dead dea scrolls in the 50's that give creedence to the bible book of isaiah.
they feel this book contains "messianic prophecies" about jesus.....hence the bible must be true since jesus fullfilled these 'particular ' scriptures they use from the book of isaiah.. here are some of the scriptures.
read them, research them, and see if you feel these scriptures actually had anything to do with jesus.

(3) be worshipped by wise men with gifts (60:3),
If this one is a prophecy, it would mean that even poor Satan's actions are damn predestined. Weren't the wise men guided by Satan's star?
But wasn't it Jehovah who had arranged the whole wise men thing in the first place?
Or did Jehovah simply "choose to" know those details beforehand?
In either case Satan was simply set up. And he thought he was freakin' smart when he came up with the Bethlehem star scheme.

WHAT DO YOU BASE YOUR PERSONAL OPINION ON?
by Terry ineverybody seems to have opinions.
often they are strong emotionally based opinions.. what do you base your opinions on?
do you expect people to respect your opinion?.

I base my personal opinion on transcendental meditation, yoga exercises and paranormal perception.
I strongly demand that the opinions and conclusions I arrive at by means of those techniques be highly respected.
I personally hate people who refuse to take into consideration my opinions or refute them without first paying proper lip service. Equally annoying are those who don't bother to use the proper tone of voice or facial expressions when they are saying they disagree.
I've even mastered a whole array of rhetorical tricks which allow me to intimidate such people. It makes me feel better when I'm being shown to be an idiot.

My invalueable opinion :
The concept of GOD.
The concept of PURPOSE.
They are the two cornerstones of most religious metaphysics. Once you have based your agenda on these two concepts and you start taking them seriously you'll see God and Purpose everywhere. Bible passages, everyday life events, other people's faces, world events.
God is everywhere. Purpose is everywhere. God has purpose. It all works. Life makes sense.

Nice point, Ozzie.
However the Borg also teaches:

Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.I guess you could rephrase it to say Jehovah wants all people to be saved. So unless you're saying Jehovah doesn't give a... if anyone survives through Armaggedon, you'll agree that in this particular situation the parents believed they just did exactly what Jehovah would like them to do. Jehovah effectively wanted the girl to die if the only way to save her was by giving her blood thus diregarding the hooooooollliness of holy blood. Of course no harm was done, because Jehovah ultimately wants everybody to be saved and live forever in his paradise. This applies to this girl as well.
Please show me further how it's not a matter of doing what Jehovah wants.
Cheers,

I speak/write/read Polish, English and Russian. I know basic Swedish and some survival phrases in Finnish as well. I can poorly read Latin. I started learning French last week. That would be it. What about you?Do you think Europeans are generally better at languages than Americans? WHat about Australians?
P.S. - my first fluffy thread :)).
