i think our elders didn't handle it that strict in the past, but this new selection system is pathetic. i mean, it's like "who dares to apply?". they didn't even say where the conventions would be.

Thou shall not kill? Makes no sense?
by free2beme ini always thought, when reading the bible, that the commandment "thou shall not kill" made no sense.
after all, the god who supposely gave it commanded his own people to kill.
so i wonder, did that god actually mean, "thou shall not murder?

God doesn't punish innocent people, what are you referring to here?
yes i know that he doesn't, because he doesn't exist. but if bible "history" would be true, god punished plenty of innocent people. i made the reference to 70,000 people jehovah killed with pestilence, because david (not the people) made a census (oh what a big deal). and i won't list all the other events here now. it would take almost as much space as the old testament. -

Who told them it was THE TRUTH???
by LouBelle inafter reading the article in sept 1, 2005 watchtower i was again astounded at the hypocrasy.
and the question came to me - who ever told this religion or the people that started the religion they had they truth - it's a matter of opinion surely????.
how do they know it's the truth - they wouldn't be able to answer.

actually "the truth" was invented in rutherford's time. they used to say "we've got the booze". some of the older brothers misunderstood it and it was all downhill from there...

Are you angry or rebellious? My sister thinks I am.
by findingmyway inmy sister although not df'd at the time, explored at least one other religion.
she attended regularly and was a sunday school teacher.
i asked her today what was her motivation and asked if she had ever done research about the organization.

i really don't know what's wrong with rebellion.
jesus was a rebel. and from the time he rebelled, things went wrong for him... when things seem to go wrong it doesn't necessarily mean you're on the wrong way. -

Fear not those who kill the body, but cannot destroy the soul?
by Gill ini don't know whether this particular song is still in the new brown song book, but the chorus goes:.
'fear not those who kill the body, but cannot destroy the soul,.
to the end continue faithful, i will bring you to your goal.'.

"cognitive dissonance"
yes, that song's still there. and it's still sung. and the singers still don't think about it. or (like i always did) think about it, but forget it because of listening to the talks right after the song, going to field service, having other "priviledges"...
JWs just work their doubts away.
