Do you remember when you first Googled "Jehovah's Witnesses"?
by Funchback ini remember when i first googled "jehovah's witnesses".
i was sick to my stomach because i feared that i was disobeying jehovah.
although i was scared that i would find something "apostate" or "demonic", i still continued to click on different links.

john wayne is dead, clint eastwood will be someday too. the days of lynching justice are over. it's been people like you that made stonings, witch hunts and concentration camps possible. think about it.

I'm afraid there are only 2 ways of being a true believin' Christian
by Zep inthe first way is to be completely ignorant.to ignore the fact that the bible is a hopelessly flawed man made document, and all other reasoned argument and evidence that points to the non existence of the christian god.
this strategy basically involves living inside mental cocoon and closing your eyes to any alternative views.
the best way to employ this tactic is to perform a whole lot repetitive and ritualistic action; a whole lot of head bowing and praying etc... etc....you know the drill!.

zep, maybe there is a third way: to just don't know the facts, and not dare to start researching them.
sarah, i'm sure you're not ignorant, but maybe you are dishonest to yourself? i was. that is, i first was way number 3, then nr. 1 then nr. 2 and then i stopped believing.
ah yeh, and merry christmas. i don't celebrate it, but i take the gifts and like the whole ambience. -

If someone did this to a member of my family, there would be no phonecall to the cops.....they'd be going six feet under.
yeah, and you'd have a walk on the death row. -

Who is buying all of those old JW books on Ebay?
by Panda inreally who is buying those old (when christmas was still celibrated by wts) books?
i mean really $10.00 for a moldy old book?
good grief whoever it is i hope they don't have allergies.

i sometimes buy one. you can't show a JW "apostate" literature (that's why i never bought one), but you can show em what nonsense their holy leaders produced not too long ago.

maybe this is the result of a violent society? i start to believe that... i mean, a lot of americans on here seem to see no alternative to the death penalty. a lot of americans didn't see an alternative to bomb the hell out of other countries. and that woman didn't see an alternative to kill that poor girl and steal her baby. is there really no connection? i doubt it. sick society.

Disfellowshipped vs. Disassociated vs. Inactive Relatives
by carefully faded inhi everyone.. i'm hoping someone can clarify a couple of points for me regarding how jw's are instructed to treat relatives who have left the organization.
i understand that people who disassociate themselves are treated primarily the same way as disfellowshipped ones.
however, what is the latest instruction for how to treat inactive relatives - not the same as ones who have purposely disassociated themselves, right?.
-

when you get inactive, you are not treated any different than you were before. but if you no longer attend meetings, and "let grass grow" over the whole thing, you have a good chance that they forget about DFing you, even if you celebrate such satanic feasts like birthday.

The Global Flood
by coldfish ini've just read an intersting article on the flood to do with dates and whether is was truly global or a regional flood.. http://www.commentarypress.com/essay-flood.html.
my father used to be an elder for many years and the flood was one of the things that made him walk away not just from the jw but also belief in the bible.
he was hung up on issues like the flood taking place about 3500 bc and how that fit in with the pyramids.. i don't know much about egyptian history or the ages of the big pyramids, but his reasoning was if the flood wiped out every human on earth except noah etc then at 3500 bc there were only 8 people on earth.

garybuss, where did you get that from? it resembles pretty much the sumerian/akkadian and even a bit the egyptian idea of what the universe looks like.

Is Islam a religion of Peace?
by Perry inhttp://answering-islam.org.uk/quran/themes/jihad_passages.html
the above link shows 164 verses in the koran that instructs the faithful to kill infidels.
in light of this, how can some still spout the mantra that this is a religion of peace and that it's only the "radical fringe" that are causing problems?

But doesn't the NT lay out the proper God ordained (regardless of religious affialiation or lack thereof) function of Government?
how so? and where?
In other words, it acts as a deterrent to murder for instance.
are you sure you are talking bout the NT? the NT is all about keeping your head out of politics, no matter what. the gospels are about loving your enemies (never read anything about conquesting or invading them). if you call yourself a christian, then the muslims are your neighbours you have to love like yourself, remember?
you are a very good example of how christians really are... talking about love but trying to incite separation and hate towards "the nonbelievers". and the only reason why western countries are more developed, is that people questioned their religion. the outcome is education, wich in islamic countries (and 3rd world countries in general btw) is not yet available as one would wish.
