I was getting ready for my 10:15 class, when I walked downstiars and my roommate was watching TV. He told me that a plane had run into WTC. I thought it was just some crazy accident. I got some cereal and was watching the news with him when the second plane hit. I knew at that point this was no accident. I went to class and this was all everybody could talk about. It wasn't until I got to my co-op that afternoon that the first tower fell.

Its Over
by diamondblue1974 inthere are some of you that know this already but for those that dont and that are interested to know i decided a few weeks ago to end what was a relatively short relationship with and marriage to, elaine.
i dont take these decisions lightly and the last few months have silently been hell whilst i try to get a grip on my thoughts and feelings and the decisions ahead; when two people are simply too fundamentally different and do not provide for each other in the way that they should, in my view not a lot can be done and this is the situation i found and find myself in.. i know a few of you might have met elaine and for those that have i dont wish for you to think any ill of her.
i dont apportion any real blame other than on us both for the breakdown; shes still the same person you met and has some fantastic qualities.

Materialism and those with "spiritual experiences"
by slimboyfat inmore and more i find myself coming to a materialist view of the world.
i don't believe in afterlife, ghosts, angels, auras, astrology, revelations and the like.
so what am i to make of people who claim to have spiritual experiences?

i think part of the problem is that being a JW were were taught to believe in an absolute truth, and that truth has to explain everything thing. you can consider those who have had spiritual experiences as delusional or dishonest in order to fit the truth in which you believe, b/c if you admitted that these were true then that would create cognitive dissonance. i think once we are able to let go of the theory of absolute truth, then accepting other peoples beliefs becomes much easier.

obviously many crop circles are made by pranksters but there is some evidence of unexplained phenomenon going on here and i'll list 3 points that have intrigued me... 1. Seed pods in soybeans/wheat/etc. have been found to be sterile or even exploded. the seed pod has actually burst open. 2. Soil samples inside the crop circle are inconsistent with soil samples outside the crop circle (i.e. raised levels of magnetic material, elements or compounds) 3. One of the scientists researching crop circles actually discovered a new geometric theorem by studying a particular crop circle. how a group of pranksters could have know about this theorem before all of the world's scientists and mathematicians is beyond me. Now I'm not saying that aliens made these but it's just some evidence that makes me question the whole "they are all pranksters" theory. I think there is enough evidence to at least doubt that they are all man made.

I came home to find my wife crying over THAT article.
by jambon1 ini came home today to find my wife crying whilst reading the 'when a loved one leaves jehovah' article.
its been a good few months now and i can appreciate how she feels.
but it just irritates me how my disagreeing with this religion has such a catastrophic effect on our everyday lives.

when i read that article posted here i cold just imagine how it was going to affect my parents when they got around to reading it. and then i got angry. i got angry by the way the WTS makes my parents believe that b/c i left the organization that i left god. i got angry at how the WTS puts the blame on me for causing all of this sadness when in reality it was there stupid shunning policy and their stupid "we are the only true religion" beliefs. i got angry b/c i knew this article would open up wounds that were just starting to heal. it made me angry b/c it keeps my parents hoping that i'll come back. so yes...i know what it's like to feel like blowing up and letting it all rip!

My Story..... Need advice on reinstatement Letter.
by jrjr4189 ini've been a member of the site for a month, but have been reading the posts for a lot longer, however this is my first post.
i was raised a j-dub by my mother (my father wasn't religious) with my sister and brother.
i was pretty much convinced by my dub friends, bible study conductor, and mother that i should get baptized when i was 15 and decided to go for it.

I think you guys are reading too much into this. JRJR stated that he doesn't want to be an active JW, he just wants to get reinstated. I can't speak for him, but I know that if I got reinstated, that would be the last time I stepped foot into a KH. I might would go to an assembly or two to see my friends but that's about it. In a weird kind of way I'm kind of looking forward to it. Imagine how much fun could be had! For example, come assembly time I'd probably show up just before the lunch break, stay for lunch to hang out with friends and then when the second session started I'd go shopping or something. If the elders started calling me and asking questions I'd tell them that if they or anyone from the cong. tried to contact me again I'd file harassment charges against them....that'll shut 'em up. If they threaten to DF me or DA me then I'd threaten a law suit against the elders individually. I'll tell you, I have learned a lot here over the past few years and I feel untouchable! If they ever did DF me with out a consultation, my dad, an elder with quite a bit of pull, would be angry ass hell. It might would be the only thing to open his eyes. I WANT MY CAKE AND TO EAT IT TOO!!

"might it be the case that your family may - in time - come to accept you WITHOUT you being reinstated?"............man if only this was the case. unfortunately high control cults have a very tight grip around it's members.

"I plan to get reinstated and fade into an innactive existence. I know one poster said that he detests hypocrisy and I couldn't agree with you more. Its just that now that the Watchtower Org is a hypocritical organization I feel that if I became reinstated, that there is no hypocrisy. I want to enjoy this life on earth right now, and I would like to have a relationship with my mother and sister even though it may be a bit fake. I know its fake and that the org is fake and to me thats what matters." AGREED!!
