  Honest mistakes? The Governing Body's excuses for their actions

  the governing body tells us they are not false prophets because they admit their mistakes.. they only err because they are zealous to see the new order commence.. they are on the watch and warning everybody just like they are supposed to.. their doctrines change (new light) because they see and admit their errors.. what more can we expect of them?.

  is the governing body honestly doing the best they can?

  they are only human; how can we expect them to be perfect?.

  The Governing Body IS NOT INSPIRED. Okay.

  They ARE directed by God. (They say).

  HOW do you parse that?

  How are those two statements different from each other. There is a distinction being made. I would like to know the difference it makes.

  A semantic sleight of hand is being used for outright deception.

  Somebody explain how Jehovah is the editor of the magazine, angels direct the preaching work, they are the mouthpiece of god and YET, they are not INSPIRED?

  HOW do you break that down and make it understandable? How does the rank and file publisher attending meetings put the above straight in their mind???

  Writing bad checks on Jehovah's account: the Governing Body

  the mouthpiece of jehovah speaks in his name with authority.

  the governing body is the only channel of communication with the supreme being.

  they identify themselves as the faithful and discreet slave.. if they are faithful, why do they write checks that bounce using jehovah's checking account?

  What puzzles me is this.

  Prediction.

  Failure.

  Excuse.

  New prediction.

  Failure.

  Excuse.

  The rank and file publisher in the Kingdom Halls has no way to voice personal concern. No way to CHALLENGE. No way to complain. No way exists to put sanity into a dialogue.

  THERE IS NO DIALOGUE with the Governing Body. They are beyond the ordinary accountability of everyday life.

  It boggles the mind. Most religions are smart enough to keep their doctrines out of the area of objective disproof.

  The Watchtower Society obsessive date-setting has put it all to the test over and over again.

  They have never once been correct!

  HOW IN THE WORLD did we ever get through those articles?

  The writing is insane!

  The sentences are crammed with crap.

  The WT versus hobbies

  someone already pointed out the 8-15-04 wt where a couple boxed their hobby items and put them away so they would have more time for spiritual pursuits.

  however, when i saw the 8-22-04 awake i told me husband, "looks like it didn't take long to get that box out of the attic.

  " on the front of the magazine there is a picture depicting a father and son assembling a model car.

  I loved going to movies. I loved playing chess. I loved karate. I loved reading secular history. I loved asking questions.

  Is it any wonder I could not fit in?

  Who's More Competitive?

  when it comes to some things like work and sports, i think that both genders are equally competitive.

  who do you think is more competitive sexually?

  Define: COMPETITION:

  Striving for the same "object" with a fixed set of rules

  I see no difference gender-wise. I do see differences according to individual character.

  If two competing persons value the same object and they both desire possession of that object equally; I say it will depend on the nature of the character of the persons striving as to how far they will go.

  A sports analogy is inevitible! Take Olympic competitors: No matter what, the efforts come down to the person. What are they made of? What makes them succeed and what makes them quit? It is in the genes. It is not in the sex.

  To the extent a woman has less muscle mass, stature or physicality--it is to that natural limit she can compete vis a vis man. But, WILLPOWER? No differences at all!

  To generalize about the sexes is to miss the essence of individuality. We are all different. It is a cop out to attribute competitiveness to sex. It is the BRAIN, the WILL, the character and the nature of the gene pool and not the sex that matters in competitive action.

  My two cents. I'll give you change if I'm wrong.

  Generally:

  Thanks for kind words and benevolent thoughts. We are all HERE because we aren't THERE. And I say "Whew!" to that.

  Freedom to and Freed from........important concepts!

  Coming out of Jehovahdumb allows us to be free to:

  1.See the future as an open book filled with possibility for hope, change, improvement and happiness.

  2. See our lives as belonging to us! We can decorate! We can make improvements.

  3.Look at other people as worthwhile and potentially wonderful.

  4.Learn about history, science, research into facts from OTHER perspectives.

  And we also have the freedom FROM:

  1.Having our future hijacked and stolen from us. Armageddon is a phoney theft of possibility from everybody's life.

  2.Thinking we are slaves who must toil as we're told to toil. Thinking ourselves worthless and dependant and undeserving. Living on the edge of extinction at the hands of those who "love" us.

  3.Seeing mankind as a pit of snakes deserving of death if they don't agree with us. Viewing other people's kindess cynically and with disdain.

  4.Reading only approved thoughts by Brooklyn minds with a batting average of 0.

  We are like newborn kittens now and not the aborted afterbirths the JW's see us as being. I have value. It comes from me. I don't have to rent it from a Kingdom Hall or earn it by knocking on people's front door. I own my own time. I don't have to write it down or report it or measure it by the standard's of a bureaucracy.

  I welcome the freedom and am filled with excitement at the unfolding nature of day to day life. The future is vast and immeasurably fertile for passionate experience. Goodbye Jehovah, you fictional character invented by Joe Rutherford and peddled like crack cocaine in bad neighborhoods! Hello wonderful loving father of happiness--you are my new and improved projected vision of universal power. Only this time, I know invented whom!

  EVIL LOUTION? Why do you still resist? Science doesn't work?

  i resisted it for years.

  i was dragged kicking and screaming into the evolution theory camp.. i would rather have had my arm lopped off at the elbow;but, facts are facts.

  i had to be intellectually honest.

  Wow!

  Difficult to slog through all this and not get a crick in my eyeballs.

  The theory of Evolution has layers to it; each built on the surface of others. All the layers of the onion ARE the onion. We seem to be toying with the idea of the slippery slope. To wit: how many layers can you peel from an onion and it not be an onion anymore?

  Look at present day man. Is he an onion? Evolution says: "Yes". Man is layers and layers of what came before. The layers changed at certain points and the new layers were different.

  Creation say: "NO", man is what he always was only worse. Man started out PERFECT and has deteriorated. Man lived a 1000 years originally and now barely makes it to 100.

  Surely these two scenarios are enough to determine something obvious!

  Nature.

  What we call Nature is what Evolution is. The nature of the forces which interact produces effects. The effects are changes.

  Changes are beneficial some time and often they are not.

  Beneficial changes allow a species advantage.

  Case in point: in our current society, if you are a beautiful and skinny woman with blue eyes and blonde hair and a radiant smile (all physical characteristics) you have an advantage in choosing among more mates than someone who is less so.

  With this sort of physical advantage which leads to a wider selection of mates; a wealthy mate who has many advantages to confer might tip the scale of selection.

  And the beat goes on......

  Evolution is merely nature doing what comes naturally. No biggie.

  Defending the WT despite doubts

  i just wanted to ask some of you a question.

  i have been meeting with a jw woman for 4 months now.

  i've asked her several difficult questions, and shown her a few things about the wt and their lies- including the letter from the un's website that confirmed they were an ngo for 9 years.

  Every person has one key issue that means more to them than any other and around that core issue they build their belief system. If you lance that boil all the pus comes out. (Lovely word pictures! ewwwww)

  By carefully asking questions you will discover the key. Address your discussion to that key issue and an honest person will confront.

  It is different for each person.

  For my best friend, Johnny, who is still with the organization, his key issue is "where would he go if he left?" You see, he believes he has to BE SOMEWHERE.

  He thinks that "somewhere" is a religion. Until I can give him something equal to what is taken away he will not make the trade.
