want one as a symbol of my freedom.
was thinking of some chinese characters.
ok. your opinion.
where do you think I should put it???
it was said before, but on bone is painful (i.e. foot or elbow or hip).
also, you might not want to get it on any body part that's going to grow/shrink/change shape too much (get your mind out of the gutter...well, actually, that would be a pretty bad spot to get a tattoo too...yeah, stay away from that whole area...)
just remember, if you get something inked on your stomach or arms, it's going to end up just as fat and flabby as you.
are you happy about who you are?
do you look down upon yourself?
are ya feelin' pretty good about yourself these days??
i only have chest hair on one side.
other than that, no complaints. feelin pretty good.

permanent marks left from temporary insanity
that's kind of harsh. esp coming from someone who probably doesn't have one. whatever...
anyway, how do you know that the chinese character means what you think it means? how do you know it doesn't mean "I'm a butthead" or "I like cheese"?
go with something tough like a butterfly with a skull for a head. well...maybe that is a little insane.
my only advice is don't get something too meaningful. there may be a time in the future when you don't feel as you do now and you'll feel ridiculous. get a cool looking tat just because it's cool looking. that's my advice. (i have a cool looking sun and i'm going to get some cool looking fire around my calf...just because they look cool.) the ink is a symbol of freedom in itself...the picture doesn't have to mean anything.
i was just wondering.
since college was (still is?
) discouraged, have any of you known persons of higher education to be in the organization, either by completing it while in or became jw afterwards?
Adevertise, Adevertise,Adevertise
i will excuse that typo.

i knew plenty of professional people while i was in. the headquarters even has it's own licensed doctor's office and staff of lawyers. college is definitely frowned upon, but it's not forbidden.
also, as far as doctors or lawyers becoming JWs, it happens. my dad had a great job at a university and then he got into the religion. from where i'm sitting now, i'd like to think that educated or very intelligent people could see through the JW doctrines, but it's just not true. everyone and anyone is susceptible to mind-control techniques regardless of intelligence. there are some extremely smart JWs that will never, ever leave the organization.
the 'dumbing down' definitely permeates the mags but i think that's a way to control the intelligent minds, not to better communicate with the dumb ones, you know?
hey guys,.
how many are in relationships where one of you is either atheist or agnostic or whatever and the signficant other is strong in their faith in god?.
my girlfriend is catholic and a good one too.
one gets so much joy out of their spiritual experience they want to share it with the person they love. And it is a wonderful thing to have the same spiritual direction, it can be very sensual in some respects and can intensify the connection. But it isn't required in order to have a connection and many many marriages thrive without it.
well, that's good to hear. me and my lady have a great relationship and i personally think it's even better because we have different opinions about spirituality (we bring such different perspectives to the table). in our case, we kind of both respect each other TOO much. she feels silly expressing her faith to me. for instance, she believes in the active hand of God directing lives today and blessing people. i don't, so she doesn't really express herself when she "feels it", you know what i mean?

My girlfriend is catholic and a good one too. her faith has helped her through all sorts of stuff and i think that's great. she goes to church pretty much every week and i'll go with her sometimes. however, i'm not so much 'religious' anymore. i'm a pretty spiritual person but as far as faith in an absolute God figure and the bible as His/Her infallible word goes...i'm still sorting that stuff out (in the wake of the troof).
anyway, from time to time we have problems with our differences of opinion and i was wondering if anyone had any experience/thoughts/tips dealing with a situation like this. i know it must be fairly common especially since many here might have a sour taste left in their mouth towards organized religion.

most of the witnesses that marry are in their early 20's that i know of.
they have zippo experience in anything except how to hide pimples.
from what you have seen, are most witnesses encouraged to get married---just so that they don't sin?
my little brother (still a JW) got married this last winter. he's 21 which isn't that young, i know, but considering his experience with girls it's crazy young. the girl he married is the older sister of my best friend growing up. let's see...i'm a year and a half older than my brother, my friend is about a year/year and a half older than me, and his sister is probably a year or two older than him... Well, at least one of them waited plenty long before gettin hitched.
hey, whatever makes you happy. you only have a 50% chance of making it for the long haul anyway, right? those are pretty good odds (...if you're playing craps).
