Do all men cheat?
by Save My Soul ina friend (someone i respected a great deal / mentor) at my job has shared some information with me.
he cheats on his wife.

I'm going to second beksbks comment... It's true that not all men cheat. It's also true that many men do. But why are we focusing on men here? It is my firm belief that, while men may be doing it a bit more than women...it's not much more! I've known many, many women who do it too. And who are all those philandering men doing it with anyway? Do you think (as I used to) that it's with unsuspecting women? Ha! I can't tell you how many women I've seen come onto me (when I was married) and other men--that they KNOW are married.

oh, i'm a pioneer and jehovah gave me $10 for gas
by monophonic ini'm drawing a huge blank..
there was a thread here a while back on the bogus experiences at the assemblies about how jehovah stepped in just when a pioneer has $0, and oh, boy, were we blessed.......yet whenver bad things happen, even when praying for help, like someone gets killed, the 'we put in 75 hours of service and jehovah fed us' theory turns idiotic..
anyone remember that thread...or wanna give me some word power over those pathetic experiences....just got one via email from a relative and really want to throw back a doozy to make him think..

And what are we to say of all those JWs who've been killed while out in service?
My grandmother was a JW icon in the Detroit area. She'd been pioneering since the mid-1940s, and for many of those years, she was accompanied by her "Pioneer Partner," Norma. But sometime in the early 1990s, Norma, this beautiful, elderly woman, who'd dedicated her entire life to accomplishing "Jehovah's will" of "preaching the Good News of the Kingdom," was approaching a door while in service, when a car ran off the road, hitting and killing her.
A protection?
It's as simple as this: If you're going to use fortunate occurrences as evidence that Jehovah is protecting his servants, you must also deal with the multitude of unfortunate occurrences as well. And if your mind starts searching for artful explanations for all those bad things--but eagerly accepting the good things as "divine" without contest...you are experiencing a ducky case of "cognitive dissonance."

Guys what chick flicks have you had to suffer through .....
by troubled mind inmy attempt at a fluff thread .. .
this morning listening to local dj's on the radio they opened this subject up to the phone lines ......the male responses were hilarious...i had tears rolling off my cheeks driving home from work .
gave me a new appreciation into man-think .

I resent the term "chick flick" because...well because I like so many of 'em too! I prefer the term "romantic comedy." (Or RomCom, for short.)
-While You Were Sleeping
-Love Actually
-(Pretty much anything with Hugh Grant and/or Sandra Bullock)
-The Color Purple (I wasn't sure this was actually a chick flick until an above poster mentioned it.)
-You've Got Mail
-High Fidelity (although it's not at all a chick flick, chicks usually completely dig it, because it gives them a good glimpse into the male mating psyche.)

Building on what JCanon writes... That's what occurred to me on September 15th, 2004: That the JWs don't just teach you that they have the true religion. They (somehow) weasel in the teaching that there can only be one true religion--and that Jehovah has always worked through an organization. But Tom Cabeen's "Does God Really Work Through an Organization" is what did it for me. He slowly, kindly reduces this notion to unbiblical nonsense.
But the one scripture that grabbed me was this one...
38 John said to him: “Teacher, we saw a certain man expelling demons by the use of your name and we tried to prevent him, because he was not accompanying us.” 39 But Jesus said: “Do not try to prevent him, for there is no one that will do a powerful work on the basis of my name that will quickly be able to revile me; 40 for he that is not against us is for us.

Ever hear convincing testimony that d'f'ing is a "loving arrangement"?
by Happy Harvester injust wondering, cuz it's so often espoused by those doing the shunning that disfellowshipping is a "loving arrangement," and there must be tons of "testimonial" literature from the borg saying so; however, when i was a jw, i don't recall ever once hearing a previously d'f''ed one giving witness to how loving it was.

Hey, Abandoned. I'd love to put it to music, but not sure how you mean. I am actually a voice talent, so I have a recording studio, and do voiceovers for commercials and narrations and such. But I'm not a musician. I do have a music service that provides me with tons and tons of really good background music beds. But I don't really know how to add video or pictures to it. Is this something you know how to do?

I'm with OTWO and Shawn on this...
And I like it that my mom doesn’t politicize her beliefs. She’s never voted for a law that discriminates against gay people, or anyone who isn’t a Jehovah’s Witness. Her Bible tells her to love, above all.
Give me a friggin' break. We could also say...
"And never once has she spearheaded a community effort to burn crosses in the lawns of local blacks, nor has she advanced legislation to block gay marriages."
If JWS did vote, you'd better believe they'd be voting against anything gay-favorable. And, while it's true that "love" is taught in the Bible, I don't think anyone can seriously call it, "love, above all." The official stance of the WTS is to consider as evil, hate, and never pray for family members who simply don't recognize The Watchtower as their channel of communication to God.
Joel, I know you feel bad that you let your mother down. I know it must feel good to build a sort of bridge back to her. I know you think you've found a way to both maintain your life as a homosexual and find a form of acceptance from your mother and former community of friends within the JWs. But you're grasping at straws, Joel. And, at the same time, endeavoring to bring validation to a legalistic and authoritarian organization that--unless you deny yourself and cease living as a gay man--proclaims you a perverted reprobate.
Tolerance is good. But it's hard to make a good case for "tolerance for the intolerant."

To my former family member
Here’s my last communiqué
We have reached the big December
No more talk in any wayI once loved you so intensely
But you broke the cardinal rule
You have sinned oh so immensely
You’ve become the Devil’s toolI could take it if you lied
Wouldn’t much mind if you stole
As long as you had cried
They’d just put you on paroleBloody stabbing is acquitted
Sex with kids is just uncouth
The grave sin you have committed
Is you say, “It’s not The Truth”And so I will ignore you
I’m giving you the boot
From now on I will abhor you
Forever standing muteI hope that this will hurt you
Slicing right down to your core
I want for this to crush you
So you’ll agree once moreI’m told that I should “hate” you
You’re a foe of God above
I wish that this deflates you
But I do it out of “love”No natural affection
But please always remember
It’s just punitive correction
