At the end of "The Way We Were" when Barbra Streisand sees Robert Redford again after many years and puts her hand on his face. God, Redford was good looking in those days.

What is your Favorite Scene from a Movie?
by Sweetp0985 ini thought about this topic last night for the board when watching one of my favorite movies.. 1. the man from snowy river- the part when they are going after the expensive colt and they get to the edge of the cliff and all the other riders stop and "jim" keeps going and leaps down the cliff after the wild horses.
i absolutely love that part of the movie...everytime its on i have to watch it, if not just to see this part only.. 2. love and basketball- when she tells him she will play for his heart...awwww first time i started crying.
and then the music they had playing in the background made it even worse.

Did the WTS make an atheist out of you?
by JH inshouldn't a religion bring people closer to god?
it would seem that many became atheist after being deceived by the wts.
unlike other religions, the wts was very precise in what was to happen during the 20th century.

Yup.
I used to be pretty "religious", even belonging to the Southern Baptist church for a long time. It never occurred to me to investigate the background of the Bible until I studied for awhile with the JW's to please my then boyfriend (now my husband.)
I was so unhappy and having a hard time swallowing the "Knowledge" book and the meetings were so awful (especially the music) that I went online to investigate the Witnesses. I found H20 and the writings of such people as Farkel and that was all she wrote.

In memorial of my cat...
by Tashawaa ini lost someone very special to me.
my cat.. she was 12 years old.

I'm so sorry Tashawaa.
I know how much it hurts to lose a cat. They are like our children. I have had to say goodbye to 2 very dear babies in the last few years but they were both very old (18 and 20) and it was time. It's still very hard, though.

My wife and I ...
by Brummie in...are seperating, and darn it feels so weird.
one day i'm like "yeah, ok, sounds like this could be for the best" and the next day i'm feelin like :( i'm all packed up and ready to go on the 28th of this month, have arranged a new place to live not too far away from my boys, cant imagine life without them running around causing havoc everyday...but my wife and i are still handling things well and arranging weekly visits for them so i guess i have to look on the bright side.
wont share anymore except to say there is no 3rd person involved or anything like that .

I am so sorry for what you're going through. Going through the divorce from my first husband after being married 15 years was the hardest thing I've ever done, but it also turned out to be the best thing that could ever have happened in the long run. It's funny, though, just in the last few days I have really been missing him even though the divorce was 12 years ago and I've been married to my current husband for 5 years.
Anyway, if I hadn't been divorced, I wouldn't have met my current husband who caused this interest in JWs and I wouldn't have found this fascinating place.
Just try to think of it as the start of a new adventure.

Pet Peeves thread...
by Brummie inthis kinda thread has probably been done before... someone phones me at work and when i say hello they say "hold on" and start talking to someone else, they dont tell me who they are and i'm hanging on hearing them chat to someone who is with them on the other end, 5 mins later they introduce themselves and tell me what they want.
that is a pet peeve.. another, for example, go to the fridge and both tubs of butter are open and both blocks of cheese instead of finishing one off and then opening the other.
thats just a small pet peeve but its one none the less.. miserable sod arnt i though?.

People in parking lots who bang their car door into the side of mine.
Harley Davidson motorcycles with straight pipes. Like I'm really impressed they can make so much noise. I'd like to stick their heads in a barrel and bang on it with a hammer.
The "Fast and the Furious" wannabes in those little cars that sound like loud bumblebees. These kids don't know what a real car sounds like. Give me a 1967 Pontiac GTO anyday.

When you start a new job and someone says "Welcome aboard." What? I thought this was an office, not a ship.

This guy must have been extremely tired of Ken. His story is about half way down the page.

Hi Everyone

Thank you all for your warm welcome. I really did put in paragraphs, but it looks like I will have to learn how to format properly. Chloe is one of our cats. She is a calico and has been known to do the same exact thing as the one in my avatar, hence the look of the window blinds in the bedroom.

I am one of those lurkers who finally decided to post and introduce myself. I could possibly win an award for the longest addicted reader without posting ever. I started reading this site when the old h2o shut down - what was that - 3 or 4 years ago. I was never a witness, but when I met my husband, I found out that he had studied on and off for years but was never baptized. He hasn't been to a meeting in years but still believes it's the "Truth." I went to a few meetings at first with him and was studying the "Knowledge" book but it was the biggest bunch of drivel I had ever read. The way it was written reminded me of the old Dick & Jane books we learned to read with in the first grade (I know I'm dating myself here - yeah, old as dirt.) The studies quickly came to a halt when I did all the wrong confrontational things. Now, religion is something we pretty much avoid talking about. Anyway, I just wanted to say how much I love this place, not only for the education about the Witnesses you can receive, but also for the way people care about each other. It can also be one of the funniest places on the web. The wit that some of you have is amazing. I probably won't post much but just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate this place and wanted to give Simon a big THANK YOU.
