I guess they need to start adjusting their focus since they've been wrong so many times. How much longer can they keep telling their followers that the end is at hand? They need to convince people to stick around for other reasons.

The January 1st Watchtower Admits That JWs Have Been Wrong As To Their Expectations Of The End!...but
by minimus inthey excuse it by saying, it's ok since at least they were on the watch.. i believe they should think about god's view of watchmen who constantly gave false pronouncements.
they would be judged accordingly by god!.

Anybody watching the 12/12/12 concert?
by MrFreeze inso far we've had the boss, bon jovi, roger waters, and eddie vedder.
is it just me or was bruce springsteen's jeans just a little tight?
i think he had a sock stuffed down there.

Add me to the non-Bruce fans. Never figured out how a guy who only knows three chords could be called the king of rock & roll.
I have avoided watching the concert because I have too much to do tonight and don't want to become distracted!

Girl beating cancer thanks to modified and disabled HIV
by EntirelyPossible inhad 48 hours or so left when she finally got the therapy.
months later, no sign of cancer and she doesn't have hiv.
science wins again.

That's fascinating. Another star for the scientific method. What would we do without scientists?
My mom tried an experimental form of cancer, not this particular one. It helped, but she was already too far gone. Of course she would have blindly refused anything like this, because she would have seen it as somehow linked to blood and gays and other ridiculous JW ideas.

Anyone else like to sew??? What kind of Machine do you use???
by ohiocowboy ini'm ready to get my sewing machines out of hiding, and will be sewing once again this winter.
i'd like to start quilting again, as it is fun to do, eases stress, and is healthier than just sitting in front of the tv.
i have even designed a few items of clothing in the past that i have sold, although i am by no means another madeleine vionet or issey miyake-lol.. i've always liked sewing machines even as a child (much to the dismay of my parents-lol), and there are a couple favorites that i have had for many years.

My mom taught me to sew - and she learned from my dad - who taught her how to use the machine. Someone needs to take Minimus behind the garden shed and show him how it's done! :)
I'll have to see if I can find some pics. My girls were actually on a postcard advertising our city in their flamenco costumes.

I LOVE sewing. Have done all kinds of creative stuff, especially when my kids were younger and I would do dance costumes - hours and hours of spandex and ruffles! I had left it for a long time, but I've started again recently, mostly sewing patches on the grandsons' jeans, taking out the adjustable elastic waistline buttons (my oldest grandson hates how they gouge his flesh) and making patchwork quilts.
I have a very old Bernina and a newer Bernina. I love the old one - but the grandkids did something to it and it's acting up. It was my very first free-arm machine I ever owned, and I was blown away at all the things I could suddenly do. I sewed nonstop with that workhorse.
My newer Bernina (12 years old?) does all kinds of fancy stitches, but I don't use any of them. The designers incorporated some very irritating features into it, too. For example, the needle automatically always lifts out of the fabric when you lift the pedal - so no leaving it in to hold the fabric in place when you want to turn a corner. The bobbin also acts up a lot.
I also have a Pfaff serger. I like it for the most part, and it was one of the priciest on the market when I got it 20 years ago, but it has proven to be very finicky and high maintenance. Last time I took it in for repair I was told they no longer make any of the parts, so I may be out of luck if it breaks down again.
I also have my grandmas original black Singer treadle machine, which dates back to the early 40s, I think. It has the gold Egyptian symbols on it. I always loved watching her manipulate the pedal, hearing the clacking sound of the needle up and down.

Should pranksters be held responsible for results of their pranks?
by Satanus intwo djs, posing as the queen and prince, prank a nurse into divulging info on kate.
nurse is later found dead, apparently suicide.. -----------.
'jacintha saldanha, the receptionist who was duped by two australian djs who were pretending to be queen elizabeth and prince charles in order to get information on the duchess of cambridge's pregnancy, has been found dead.. the woman's body was found at an address close to king edward vii hospital in london, where the duchess was being treated, according to the u.k.'s daily mail.

EVeryone makes fun of the royal family. I"ve heard countless imitations. The queen herself participated in the James Bond skit for the Olympics. You watch something like that and think it's probably okay to make fun.
How on earth do you know in advance which imitation is harmless fun and which might have terrible consequences? Personally I thought the Brazil elevator prank was horrific. It could easily have caused a heart attack. This was a radio station joke, no different than hundreds that they do every single day, radio personalities pretending they are someone else.
The Duchess is a public personality. Goes with the territory. Get used to it.
The nurse who chose to kill herself...that's a whole different thing. No blame can be laid on anyone else. WE don't know what was going on. I suspect she was likely facing job loss, since that's what happens for breach of the health act and confidentiality in my country. Regardless of what the hospital said. If, in fact it was the nurse at the nursing station - she answered a call that had already been cleared by the switchboard. No wonder she was caught off guard and thought it was okay.
The hospital bears the majority of the responsibility, not the staff. My heart goes out to that poor nurse who clearly thought her life was over. And maybe it was. Conspiracy theories aside, bottom line is that the big guys always try to scapegoat the little guy.
