Nah. Flanders is still too nice a guy, and he doesn't force others to conform to his religion. I've known a few other religious groups like him. They are very vocal but still seem to respect the right of others to believe differently.

The Village - I thought about JWs the whole time...
Der Verdener Worlds Apart...worth seeing. A JW girl who has to choose.
The Devil's Playground. Really interesting documentary about the Amish. Very reminiscent.
Also reminiscent, a book by Jody Picoult, Plain Truth. I listen to all my books on audio CD now. This one really brought me back my upbringing...but it was a very positive slant about the Amish and how they view shunning, not as punitive as JWs.
I'm only touching on JW-related movies, of course.

Little Cantleave - you are free now and so are mom and dad. You are going to have a great, normal, life and you will learn what it means to love unconditionally (if you don't know what that means, ask your mom to explain!)

1969 Kingdom Ministry PDF
by cabasilas infor those interested in collecting the pdfs of the kingdom ministry for research purposes.. as is well known, the watchtower library cd-rom starts its coverage of kms in 1970. however, the kms from 1966 to 1969 show a bit more of the excitement relating to the prediction that 6,000 years of man's existence would run out in the year 1975.. the 1969 kingdom ministry (51 mb) can be downloaded here:.

I get sick every time I read this KM. It really messed up my life, because I took all that pioneering garbage to heart. I wouldn't be financially devastated and losing my house right now if I had gone to University back then.

Generation teaching - conversation I just had with my dad.
by cult classic inso, went to the dc 2 days this weekend.

i left after the drama today and just spoke with my dad who is inactive and supposedly enlightened about all things jw.

Sometimes I'm just in awe of how the JW control at the top are able to convince the rank and file. I remember drinking the koolaid and spouting the same, "if you only heard the talk you'd understand perfectly, because it made so much sense." Or, "if you just could talk to Bro, X, he could explain it to you." Or, if you only watched the DVD, you'd understand." Of course, it made no sense to anyone with a brain. But thousands and thousands of us believed it.

Restrictions on sanitation supplies at a$$emblies
by WTWizard innow that the grand boasting sessions are well under way, now is a good time to discuss what they are restricting on supplies there.
the "one towel" rule is quite famous by now.
however, i have heard scattered reports that they are rationing things like toilet paper as well.

The paper on the mirrors was only in the "sisters" bathroom, because they were the frivolous ones who would spend hours looking at themselves in the mirror, instead of remaining in their seats and being indoctrinated, if they weren't prevented from doing so. I'm surprised they didn't make gender restrictions on the sanitation supplies, too, since it's only "sisters" who use lots of TP in their mind.

cantleave - that group of little children singing reminded me of the days when my own little girls would sing with their cousins and family. They loved it, and it was really touching and beautiful and reinforced the trust we felt in our belief and in our community. But soon afterwards their mother was DF'd and the song was silenced. Even once I was reinstated we never again joined the family singing like this. My family's treatment of me made it impossible to ever trust again.
