you do realize we are also an ex-jw forum? If anyone here attended it would be just to learn why the WT is involved. I don't think anyone here knows anything about the Chief INvestment Officer of the WT.

Not so mind-boggling, really. I'm not DF'd, faded long ago, and I live in the same city as most of my family. When my sister's son almost died in a motorcycle crash, no one bothered to inform me. When my youngest brother was diagnosed with terminal cancer no one bothered to tell me until he was weeks away from death - and when he died I found out from his daughter's facebook page. No one bothered to call me. I'm just a non-person in their eyes, I guess.
I hope your sister wakes up and takes advantage of your loving desire to help her out.

HOLY SPIRIT CONVERSATION STOPPERS...
by Confession ini just posted this on another thread, but thought i'd give it its own.
i hope some of the language is not offensive to anyone.. ----------------------------.
holy spirit conversations stoppers.... if someone asks why certain decisions are made in the congregation, perhaps you could say.... "jehovah's holy spirit is "guding and directing" the body of elders.".

Funny but unfortunately true. Thanks for the bump.
and Confession - I really like how you've pointed out that we are NOT outsiders.

Cedars brings a great deal of passion and hard work to the forum and to his site. It is the work people like him do that help so many of us recover from the cult.

Been watching the BBC video series, absolutely horrible. They may be a caricature of a cult, but, man - they are soo close to JWs it's sickening.
I've been enlightened as a result of this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/226516/1/Im-currently-involved-with-documentary-film-makers-who-arent-afraid-of-controversy-Could-they-help-us-to-expose-the-WTBS-Thoughts

Did You Know A Lot Of Elders That Simply Weren't Too Bright?
by minimus ini did.. most of the elders were decent men but i'd say a third weren't the brightest bulbs in the sky..

You know, I can't help but think that perhaps certain types of leadership don't require intelligence. I was having a conversation with a coworker today (in my government job) about the politicans who run our province. The vast majority do not have any college education and many are severely lacking in the intelligence department. Yet they are in these positions of power and influence (and earn big money). Maybe it has something to do with being easier to control?
Perhaps the notion of elders not being bright appeals because it's so hard to fathom anyone with intelligence embracing the party line to the degree they do. I found most elders were of average intelligence, simply uneducated - and I agree with 00Dad. In the context of DFing, I've seen some very small, vindictive men, as LadyLee has. Those seem to me to be men who don't have the intelligence to succeed anywhere else, so they get their jollies power tripping on the lowly rank and file.
There are always exceptions. When I was young I recall one very intelligent elder who always advocated against the no-university policy and he was not very happy with DFing either. He was often on the outs with the other elders, though, and I think he'd be in trouble if he were still around today. Then there is my brother, who is extremely intelligent, yet falls into the category of "vindictive small-minded elders".

Ladies: A Purse Question
by Lady Lee inwhat makes a perfect purse for you?.
color?
size?interior or exterior pockets?zippered top or sections?long straps or short?material it is made from?

I've gone through many styles depending on where I'm at in life. I used to carry a huge bag, with lots of pockets (and room to carry a mickey of whiskey on occasion!) Ah...back in the day.
anyway, as I grew older and more mature, I downsized. I though it would be really hard to go into a really small purse, but it was actually a good thing to limit the stuff I used to carry around with me.
I always went with black leather until about a year ago when I found a unique dark green (teal) leather bag at Winners. I love it and get lots of compliments. It doesn't have quite as many compartments as I would like, though. Ironically it matches a leather coat I bought years ago at value village. I love buying unique things at second-hand stores!
I've tried sewing backpacks and custom totes, but not smaller purses. The ones you are making look great, LL. I love the contrast linings. I made totes with a vinyl pocket on the outside where I could insert pictures - I could customize the look of the bag and display a favourite pic. I experimented with different fabrics - leather, vinyl, canvas, cloth. I found they were a lot of work, though, so I finally abandoned the project. I've had my eye on a beaded knit purse I'd like to try making, though.

To you at the Most Holy who read this to spy on us...
by braincleaned inget a life!
you should be ashamed of yourselves for peering into the real issues while demonizing them to those searching truth or questionning your big brother status.

"Yet even though Oholibah saw what had happened to Oholah, her sister, she followed right in her footsteps. And she was even more depraved, abandoning herself to her lust and prostitution. Exekiel 23:11
Why does the title of this thread bring back that scripture to my mind?
