Cheers for those guys. My main interest in this is simply that I often feel mad at how I was "taken in" by the dubs. Looking back, I often feel that I was a fool in view of my now scientific viewpoint. And then the more I learn, the more amazed I am that so many are hoodwinked. Looking at the figures of the millions, and then at other organisations such as scientology who I have had just enough experience of to know they are big trouble.

Know about scientology?
by ballistic indon't worry - i'm not thinking of joining.
in fact i've heard lots of dodgey stories about them including them being a money grabbing, brain washing cult.. just wondered how wide spread they are though.
they have a big base near here.

Interesting story. As a witness, I only heard one exorcism story and it was told from a different perspective. The story was that an elder had gone to the house of a supposedly possesed out-sider in order to exorcise demons, alone at night armed with a bible, some garlic, pepper and something made of silver (I can't remember what) and was turned insane. Apparently he was found murmering and mumbling rocking back wards and forwards the following morning and was placed into an institution where he has been ever since.
Maybe this should be in the urban legend thread, I don't know, but either way - this elder ended up loosing his mind. Maybe he went on the adventure because he had lost it and not the other way round. -

Forget the year, the most important thing is the time!
I'll be dying at 11.45. Just late enough in the day to have one last big greasy fried breakfast with second helpings.

He wasn't the same guy from under the bed was it? The one who ran off with the New World Translation and immediately became a Witness?

Post JW Children??
by Perry inok, since we were all discouraged from having children in the wt world; i was wondering how many have reconsidered raising children for the sheer joy of parenthood and passing on their heritage.
even if not practical right now, how many would like to?

What Do You Do On The Weekend?
by TheRecordCollector inwhat do you do on the weekend?.
and how do you spend your spare time?

At least one other person mentioned alcohol. I think this must be a British thing, but us English student types don't do anything at the weekend which DOESNT involve copious amounts of alcohol, this weekend having been: playing pool, going to a barbeque, playing network games, going to other pubs, and now here on the internet with a beer.

Mr Moe - can you remember my thread about this nearly 3 months ago. Well, I'm still going. And I can tell you it DOES get a lot easier with each passing day. I actually go whole days now without thinking about smoking allready.
