Hi eyeslice--- I sang and played mandolin in the same band with this guy---along with about 6 otther people. He was told he couldn't assocaite with on a regular basis those who do not share his faith. I was told the same thing by the elders when I confronted them. If there was "more to it"- please leave me out of it. Thanks for your compassion

how long disfellowshipped?
by sugarbritches inhi- when someone is disfellowshipped- how do the elders determine the amount of time for the disfellowshipping to last?
my friend- perhaps i should say my ex friend has been disfellowshipped for 3 years- for singing in a small local country band with me- a non-witness.isn't that a bit extreme?
i haven't seen or heard from him in over a year.

Hi all forgiving--- I'm not the one who turned her back on him- it was the other way around- all because a few old men in Brooklyn says that if I'm not a witness then I am nothing. Thanks

What's your nicest souvenir of your time spent as a JW?

Hi- I wasn't a JW- but I was a Bible Student- and I have no happy memories there. I have nightmares still which I keep hoping will go away. I believe in time they will. It's strange how long it takes for the scars to fade even after you have been gone for a while. Coming here helps me a lot. Thanks guys- Sugarbritches

HI Snakeizz--- thanks for your post. Yes being sincerely repentant should definitely play a big role in being reinstated. I can't see that being someones friend is worthy of being disfellowshipped for 3 yrs though. Yeah I know JW's aren't ALLOWED to associate with those who do not share their faith- but he associates every day with people who are not JW's. He rents homes to lots of people- not one of them is a JW. None of the other band members are JW's and yet it's okay to sing and play with them. Anyway thanks for responding- I feel very bitter towards the JW's and all they have put me through. I don't have the wisdom I guess to understand why people let a group of men control their every thought, choose their friends, etc.... but then i guess thats what brainwashing is. Again, thanks

Thanks Blondie and all for your posts. My friend has written numerous letters about being reinstated but 3 yrs later he is still disfellowshipped. That just seems way unreasonable to me.But then I know how cold and heartless the elders were so this doesn't really shock me. Happy New Year all- again thanks for your posts. Being here is helping me to cope with a heartache that is bigger than I am. Sugarbritches

Adam was perfect,...Right?
by prophecor inmy wife and i were discussing adam being a perfect creation of god.
we as jw's, have always associated adam with being such, but she tosses me a curveball and does not necessairily agree to the standard jw theology.
she believes that had adam been perfect, the sins of the fathers would never have been visited upon his children, we would never have been locked out of paradise and all the ills of this world would never have been an issue.

HI Phophecor--- I wish I could find a way to get a very dear friend of mine out of the JW religion- but he has been a witness for 40 yrs- I don't think it's possible to get him to see that this religion is wrong about so many things. I enjoyed your post---Sugarbritches

Who do you Worship now?

Hi DMAC--- don't let the elders find out that you are posting here. That would be a big no-no in their eyes-- but if you do your homework you won't find most of their rules written anywhere but in their own self written books. Look in the Bible each time you learn of a new "rule"-- you most likely will find no basis for it in the scriptures. I hope one day you find your way out of the darkness--as one of God's precious children you deserve geniune love and kindness- you won't find that at the Kingdom Hall.

What's next for the Watchtower in 2005?
by truthseeker inafter all the events of 2004 regarding the botchtower, what do you think will happen next year?.
i can think of a few events.. first of all, 70 years will have passed since rutherflawed took on the name "jehovah's witnesses" - a gross misapplication of that scripture in isaiah.. all the new man presses will be operational - already, the wt have increased their watchtower circulation.. "godly obedience" district convention next summer - we all know what that will be about; and don't forget the layman's km article on how to book a hotel, and not just any hotel at that either.. a new book to replace "organised to accomplish our ministry".
bro barr of the governing body turns 100 (i think this is correct).

Congregation gossip - Why so rampant?
by OUT and about inis is just me, or did every congregation have a big (as in greater than in the non jw world) problem with this?
how have some been affected?

Boy do i ever know how it feels to be gossiped about. Some of the elders wives were so jealous--- they felt they had to put me down in order to get rid of me. I did finally leave- after the elders tried for the 2nd time to get rid of me. The first time they tried to get rid of me they lied and told me I wasn't allowed to come to this particular KIngdom Hall because I didn't live in the same county. The circuit overseer informed them that I could go whereever I wanted to go. So they terminated 3 Bible studies-- and asked me to go elsewhere. They said I wasn't making any progress. How could I make progresss when they kept terminating my studies. The sisters in this Kingdom Hall were such a bunch of busybodies- they made life rough for me there- and the elders were nightmares that I am still trying to forget. Yes gossip is rampant in the Kingdom Halls- I'm glad I'm out.
