I saw some people get baptized and I felt they were fakes. Looking back I think probably 1/3 of the witnesses I knew were just hanging on the fringe of the witness group for what ever reason. I think if they could have maintained their family association I believe many would have left.

Stayed up all night, see it is a cult now.
by gutted ini really needed to find a place to write this as i don't believe i can talk with anyone else about my account, perhaps it is similar to a lot of yours.. last night for whatever reason i said i would go online and look up information on jws.
i have been raised as a jw all my life and baptized the last few years.
i looked at www.freeminds.org and www.sixscreensofthewatchtower.com and couldn't believe how easily the whole of my lifes teachings were refuted.. i can't stop my brain from running, bs just in regards to theology alone (1914, paradise earth, celebrations etc.

Awakening is tough, I went through a bunch of sleepless nights when I began learning about how the JW's are really a cult. It is so distrubing and blasts our belief's right out of the water. I feel for you, we all have surely been there done that. Sitting in a meeting after freshly learning that will just be mind blowing. Good wishes come your way Gutted from me.

Sexual Repression 101. Pure WT Gold: Wednesday's Daily Text.
by Open mind inwednesday's daily text was a masterpiece.
each sentence just added another layer of sexual guilt and repression.
i could go off for at least another 500 words but i'll stop.. .

My sons as they grew up felt so emotionally and sexually immature, and I know them being raised as JW's is a big part of the emotional stunting. Religion can be so repressive, and the USA is very repressed sexually.

JW's being asked not to marry?
by life is to short inok another poster just went to the two day assembly and i just went to the one day special assembly day sunday.
at both of them it seems there was strong words against getting married.
they had on the stage a group of young men about three of them an older sister who is not that attractive but she is really nice, of course not brother would give her the time of day, and this older brother who is in his 60's and nice but very strange.. they all went on and on and on about not getting married.

Back in the 70's they were encouraging the same crap. My now ex-husband and I were already married when we became witness and all the rage was if you were single stay single. If you were married remain childless till the new system. I knew many who went without having kids. It has been a long time practice of JW's to avoid having kids. Good I hope they shrink and disappear. LOL

What is the reasoning of Israelites being allowed to have concubines?
by EmptyInside inwere they all foreign women?
it seems to be contradictory too, because they weren't to have marriage alliances with other nations.
but, i guess using the woman as a sex slave and baby making machine was okay.

Male dominated God, Male dominated religious society. What a perfect opportunity to have all the women they want to have sex with and heck their would never be a chance of being bored. If women had been in control they would have had a simular set up I imagine. If women dominated society it might be the same way in reverse.

Since Leaving "The Truth" Are You Really Happier?
by minimus inwitnesses say that when people leave "the truth", they get involved in a debauched life, misery, and general unhappiness.. they give experiences of some that left the "sweet fellowship" of the "brotherhood" and the awful results because of it.
then, they come back and their lives change 100% for the better!.
have you found life to be miserable and unproductive since "leaving jehovah"?.

Encounter with JW's take two...
by highdose inmy doorbell rang about 30mins ago, standing out side was a 30 somthing man and a very very young boy.
the young boy mumbled and stuttered and limply waved about a awake magazine at me.
i told him i wasn't interested because his religon had a bigger child abuse problem than the cathloic church, the difference is jw's cover it up better.

HighDose,
Wow good for you, I've never been that bold when they come around. I've never had anyone very young here but one time and the teenage girl totally hated door to door work and I felt sorry for her being forced to go out. I remember forcing my kids to go out in the preaching work. I wish now I'd said something to that young teenage girl she would have loved it. I was trying to engage them in a converstation without giving myself away.

I attended the memorial as a stranger and they mentioned there was 10,800 about who partook for 2009. I was shocked because the number has grown since I left in 2001 by more than 2,000.
I suspect there will be an even higher number in 2002.
