Well a friend who studying with the witness and I are going to attend a memorial next tuesday night. This is a congregation I've never been too and they won't know me since I'm not from the area we're attending. My friend has been studying with the witnesses about a year, I have been giving her the real information on them. I also sent her the movie "World's Apart" and she watched that. So she asked me to go with her to the memorial. I haven't been to one in 8 years so it should be interesting. I'm sure it is exactly the same as it has always been. I'm going to play dumb of course so the JW's have no clue I know all about them.

Can You Get DFd for Working for the Department of Defense?
by daniel-p inso, as some of you may be aware, i got a job offer with an agency under the u.s. department of defense.
the other day i told a member of my family, and they nearly went apeshit.. my question: what reprecussions could this reasonably have?
does the wts speak of this in any of their publications?

I knew a sister back years ago who was threatened with disfellowshipping because she took a job in the Commissary on a Military base where her husband was stationed. I thought that was really weird, but she quit the job and the JW's continued to control her life. There is a whole bunch on this stuff but it is in their publications. Yes you will be disf'ed for working for the department of defense.
The rules are stupid and insensitive to individual needs. The JW high ups think they have the pulse of God but they really know nothing. It could be your path to final freedom but your family will be tested. They will have to chose sides over a good job you have landed. Do they shun you over a job or will reason win out?

Welcome It's Me,
To have a voice after having none is great isn't it. To know that there are other people out there in cyber world who have struggled just like you have and felt the emotional and spiritual void of the Watchtower Society congregations. I know when I found this site after I was disfellowshipped back in 2001 it was like a room flooded with light after sitting in the darkness so long I thought I was losing my mind. This site is a great place to read, talk and heal. I know I don't come here as much as I once did but the healing I've experienced from being a JW is complete.

After the loss of my 15 year old son to death and my questioning my faith in the JW religion, I gave up on religion and had no belief in anything especially not a god. I believe I was touched spiritually through a dream, and when I awoke I knew that for me rejecting the Divine was not possible. I had to search for a spiritual community and had to follow my intuition because I had nothing else. I am now Presbyterian and it is a good fit and does not choke the life out of me like the JW's did. I spent about 2 years as an atheist. Something about being an atheist is that I understand how they feel. I felt such a relief when I decided I was an atheist and it felt good in the beginning but as time went on life felt like a huge waste of time in some respects. Then a powerful vivid dream and I knew in my heart of hearts that I needed more.

Porn is .....Mostly Irrelevant

you are taught a relentless fear about porn and it gets demonized heavily - but what is the real result?.
most guys don't want a porn star for a wife and separate fantasy from reality in regard to interaction with the opposite sex.. maybe that's why religious types like witnesses demonize it so much: they are unable to distinguish fact from fantasy.. see:.

My son is in federal prison because of the accessiblity of porn on the interenet. And being the eager young man he was to blow his nose at every opportunity he had to get on the computer and look at everything out there on the world wide web. He downloaded everykind of porn ever made, animals and humans, male and female, male & male, female and female, kiddy porn, everykind. Well he was happily jacking off at the computer when the FBI busted in and hauled his butt off to interogation. He had down loaded his entire harddrive with images of of everykind. Most of them he never even got to look at. Millions of images, and the one that put him in prison are the porn if little kids. My son claims he doesn't even remember them but it was there.
He tried to defend himself by saying he would never do 1/2 the stuff he saw on the internet and they found no evidence that he engaged in anything illegal. But possession of imagines on a computer was enough to put him in prison for a 10 year sentence.
Some porn is illegal and the government will put anyone viewing it or saving the imagines on their computer in prison for very nice high sentences.
Personally I hate porn because I've seen what can happen to the guys who obsess over that stuff.

Both of my sons now 22 & 26 and I all agree that being in the witnesses stunted our social abilities and our appreciation for education. It's been 9 years since we left and understand the need to catch up. I figure my sons are about 4 years behind mentally and emotionally maturity. I noticed that most kids raised in the witness always seemed behind in emotional and mental development. I think the fantasy world the WTS promotes causes a definate disconnect to those who follow it.
