i have just been shunned!
i was standing in my kitchen, which has a view on a parking lot in front of my house.
well, i was doing my dishes, and i see this car parking (quit clumsily i might add).
Okay, okay, I'll elaborate on the outfit, geesh, is that all you people care about? .
He was wearing a yellowish suit, picture a color close to yellow, but a bit more brown. He had a matching tie and I really wouldn't know the color of the socks LT. But he looked quite handsome, he was part Indonesian I think, cause the colors did become him. I wonder if he was single ....
Thanks Spaz and Pris.
Hugs to all of you!

I was standing in my kitchen, which has a view on a parking lot in front of my house. Well, I was doing my dishes, and I see this car parking (quit clumsily I might add). First thing I saw, was a yellow looking suit. Witnesses! Recognised it immediately. And then the passenger stepped out. And I was a bit taken aback cause that was an elder, who always called me his daughter. I loved the man dearly, and had him and his wife over for diner many times, and visa versa. Now, this man had told my mum not so long ago, he would never shun me, cause he is an elder and therefore still allowed to talk with me. (is that correct by the way, those were my mums words)
Much to my surprise however
Thats love for ya. Well, I guess its just more of the same.

i know that my mom frequents these boards a lot, she says it has really helped her deal with her pain caused by the jw's.
i figured maybe you could help me out too.. i'll start by saying that i'm fifteen, and that i am in an unfavorable situation concerning my relationship with a witness.
my mom doesn't feel comfortable with me talking to this person, and she says that it is a bad thing to be talking to her.
(((((Reborn))))) I am so sorry for you, I know it hurts.

Hi Spencer! welcome to the board.
Well, I got bible study from Jehovahs Witnesses, when I was seventeen, so that's pretty close to your age. I really liked the way they made me feel loved and welcome "love-bombing". Socially, it is a merry group, as long as you obey the rules (and there are a LOT) and be obedient and a good little dub as we call them here. However, the minute you show some independent thought, show some criticism, doubt a decision, then you're in trouble. Cause disagreeing with the Governing Board, means disagreeing with God, in their eyes. This is what happened to me, and I got a lot of criticism from the elders for not being submissive enough, "I had to put the Kingdom first, maybe consider dropping out of college and spend more time in field service" etc. The thing they want from you, is to control your whole life. As a witness, everything you do, you have to do in consideration of what the Watchtower tells you about it. Heck, they even wrote an article about chess sometimes, warning against that game. (It is somewhere on this board, I believe under the heading "witnesses know how to have fun")
The nastiest thing about them is IMO however, the shunning. Once you decided you no longer believe in it, or commit a "sin" and get disfellowshipped, or disassociated, you get shunned, which pretty much means that every witness ignores you. The hurt this causes on people is unbelievable.
You have a wonderful mother, she can tell you a lot about JW. I hope you find the answers you need and search for. Good luck Spencer, and feel free to email if you have questions.

well i had a great holiday and now i'm back to raise a little hades (hee hee--a private joke).
i can't tell you all where i went but all i can say is that the weather is very warm and you should see the suntan i got.. just checking back in to see what i corruption i might have missed and how much i should start.. lucifer
Welcome back Lucifer, I guess that means the heat up here will get a bit turned up, he?
since departing from the borg, i've always wanted a non-jw to do the following: the next time a jw attempts to witness to you, tell them "ok, i'll allow you to witness to me if you agree not to report this as time.
" i would love to see the reaction from the jw :) .
this raises some questions: .
Now, that would create a difficult situation for the JW. Naturally, he/she would want to witness to you, for you are a human being waiting to be saved. But, not reporting time, would be like lying, can't do that. Plus, if she/he would not report the time, but wouldn't put in _extra_ time, then the avarage of fieldservivce would drop with the amount of hours talking to you. Now, how would he/she explain that to the eldres?
Difficult....
