i recently picked up a book that i have seen on the shelves for some time but never really paid it much attention until today.
what can i say, it was on sale.
the title is, "women who love too much" by robin norwood, and it is essentially aimed at getting women who bounce from bad relationships to worse to see the root causes which are responsible for their poor choices in men.. one paragraph that dealt with denial of extreme behaviors in the home (alcoholism, abuse, and abandonment) leapt out at me.

Yes - I remember that book it was one of two or three that made me see the dynamics of JWs.
The other one was "The Adult Children of Alcoholics" (can't remember author - but again the whole process of denial and pretense.)
Lastly "What do you say after you say hello?" by Eric Bern - I saw how phoney and game ridden the interactions in WTS are.
I wanted to be real. I wanted to be ME.

as a child i remember sitting behind a sister with a pink angora sweater.
i would pull of a bit of the lint from it and tilt my head back and place it above my lips a bit.
I didn't.
I died and did not need to be sent to hell.
Then the song and prayer.

i just read a post that said the audience was not obediently clapping at the convention when the speakers made wild statements (presumably with the rising nazi voice).

my letter to the editor to the davenport times just came out on june 30, 2005. the spokane spokesman review is interested in doing a story about shunning as a result of reading my letter.
the religion reporter wants to start working on it wednesday.
does anybody want to tell their story of odd things they have been shunned for by jw's.

hello everyone, just wanted to say hello and let you know a bit about my story and tell you how thankful i am that i found this site!.
i was never a baptized jw although in the early 90's i studied for about 3 years and was an un-baptized publisher for about 1 year before my doubts about some of the beliefs and also my inability to overlook the constant hypocracy of the elders did me in.
sadly it was not before i dragged the love of my life into it, and also my sister (they are both baptized although she left after seeing the elders double standards when it came to doling out counsel/punishment to their own families, he is still in) anyway even though i couldn't bring myself to commit to the org because of the crap i saw going on in the 2 different halls i attended i still believed it was the truth...what an idiot!
Sometimes I think we should all just pay for a small advert in our local paper.
"Why dont the JWs want you to look at this?" With a couple of web addresses. After all this board now has members all over the world.
