  I must say however - I have personally known dubbies, including my mother, and an uncle who refused blood.

  For hemorraging ulcers, cancer and heart bypass surgery, among others. In all of these the doctors did remark on how unusually well they were doing. When others were still lying about looking dreadful.

  This is still ANECDOTAL evidence - that is: all I can say is what I saw and experienced. But saying that, if what we see and experience is to be dismissed as anecdotal, and therefore not provable, we might as well shut the lawcourts, and stop asking for testimony from witnesses.

  Even worse, why not dismiss the testimony of child abuse victims - mere anecdotal evidence, non corroborated??

  i have lots and lots of watchtower literature... and i don't know what could be useful in the future to have as a reference or as a keeper.

  i am definitely keeping the 1993 and 1994 bound volumes of the awake!

  (no, we are not false prophets... down in the same page, the generation of 1914 will not pass... also the youths who put god the watchtower first).

  thats is a LIE - in an article from the 70s they said that when they have said something they back it up with the scripture "These are the words of Jehovah."

  i think it was called"They will know a Prophet was among them"- don't have the litterature myself anymore. So I can't post it.

  we were in the middle of discussing their use of god's personal name, and miss k was not able to find one place in the bible, where jesus actually said the name out loud (that wasn't a quote from the ot).

  we had started out by talking about jesus being "the way, the truth and the life.

  " then she stated that one of the purposes of jesus' coming to earth, was "to make god's name known.

  Midweek Meetings no longer Necessary

  i am sure we have all seen the recent letter to the boe concerning the change that will take place to the meeting arrangement during the week of the co visit.

  to recap the basics: the meeting that usually contains the cong bible study (book study) and a co talk will be discontinued, publishers are encouraged to use their family worship night that week to cover book study material.. so here is a point that i think has been missed, or not even considered:.

  if that particular meeting is hereby deleted from the schedule, the co and his wife will never ever have to participate in or go to another "book study", or "bible study" night again.

  I'm on the same page as Dontcallme -

  We were assimilated in 1969 when I was a kid. recently deprogrammed. COs were usually conceited self seeking vain and had food fads. DITTO: the only one I came across as really caring had a nervous breakdown because of the disgraceful behavior of the elders in the circuit.

  First Post - Emotionally Torn

  i haven't been on here long but i found this site a couple days ago and quickly realised it had a lot of posts by people going through similar experiences as me.

  i read some of the answers and it helped relieve some inner anguish i've been carrying since everything i came clean to my parents about everything i've been reading about.. .

  i just have been going through a rough patch right now; that might be an under or overstatement depending on your own personal experiences with this kind of stuff.

  Compaaionate faith is perfectly compatible with the facts of evolution. Life is still valuable and to be enjoyed. You can see it as having a purpose, even if we are too puny in this vast universe to ever get to the bottom of it. If you want, give your life YOUR purpose, one of your own choosing. it doesnt last long in the end.

  You are finding all this stuff out at the right part of your life. You are not responsible for other peoples feelings and reactions to your convictions. Your parents are in a FOG themselves and cannot help it. But they have to deal with this for themselves, just like you are having to. It gets better.

  Just remember that most people are basically nice, you have your whole life to make friends share love, and to leave something worthwhile behind when you die.

  One thing about this site that bothers me

  the constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.

  but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.

  one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.

  At one time the menial jobs were done by people who were too uneducated or stupid to do anything else. Those times are gone.

  However most born ins become window washers because they are happy with the "eggychashion" they get from the Asleep rag (equivalent to a college degree no less)

  Most references are in threads to do with things like blood, transplants, going to college - I dont want an uneducated person advising me on life critical issues. If I need surgery or advice I go to somebody qualified to tell me what's what. It is what the word EXPERT tells us, as opposed to AMATEUR, cheese and cracker waiter, or window washer. (If I need advice on my windows or need catering I will go to a professional)

  Even bible translations list the staff doing the work - not out of vanity but to assure the reader that they know what they are doing. (NOT so with NWT - how did marshmallow instead of mallow come to be in Job?)

  Window washing is honorable work (my first job after university was cleaning) but most born in dubs do it instead of getting educated. NOT the same thing as doing it because you have NO CHOICE.
