Humanity survived because of instincts to love and altruism, which are obviously dominant genes as opposed to those of destruction. The death camps were disgusting but always remember it was humans who came to the aid of the prisoners not God.

The impulses of unselfish love are such that as humanity has matured, these were the qualities projected onto our deities. As love and justice and friendship triumph ( don't mock - we create our futures by our thoughts) this whole god of armies and armageddons will so NOT appeal, that when he does come we shall be no more afraid of him than a science fiction Super Villain.

I have said before, when did god rescue a wounded bird, or intervene to prevent a child being raped or murdered?? I help children by sponsoring them, by contributing. To humanity. That's my philosophy. Help and kindness.

It's down to us all. I can make a difference. I am a tiny snowflake. Size does matter, together we can bring everything to a standstill in a snowstorm of conviction. Even "God".

apparent attempts at defending da troof.. min were you already sick of it all and trying to keep your finger in the dyke, or did you really still believe and doing like some of the newbies do even now on this forum?.

we all know the big scandals but what did you discover that really made you decide "this is enough??".

The reason is because JW males think like Old Testament Jews.

In the Israeli army it is often the case that when doing national service, the young men have a strong female drill sargeant who can go the whole course and more. It is well known that most men in that situation will not say "I can't go on" when he sees a woman still up and running.

Remember the prayer (Jewish male): "Oh Lord, I thank thee that I was not born a woman."

(Jewish female): "Oh Lord, I thank thee that I was born as thou hast willed"

Like ancient Israel, male dominated societies tend to despise women or at best view them as weak and inferior. Oh yes I heard it said at assemblies that the role of women in the congregation and family is an exalted one. But if that were true, the men would have grabbed the role for themselves long ago.

The intention is to sting the smug, apathetic JW, female-dominating males into doing what the article is manipulating them into doing.

In latin it was written IEHOVAH. Bearing in mind that V was pronounced as U it implies an approximation to EE-YAY-OO-AH.

As time went on some european scribes started writing 'I' as 'J' (Which is why germans pronounce J as Y.)

In England seventeenth century editions of Shakespeare use 'u' for 'v' showing the distinction between the two letters was not absolute as yet.

I conclude the modern english transliteration is wrong.

Yahweh, Yehwah, Ehaywah are probably nearer.

Thats my two bits of droppings for today.

Alcoholism - a disease or a choice?

alcoholics anonymous claims that alcoholism is a disease.

somehow i think that is just a way of excusing the person from the responsibility that they chose to drink and they chose to let it become an addiction.. what do you think?.

When I chose to drink, it was because I needed the change of mental state from ME to THE OTHER ME. The me that could laugh, yes flirt or have sex without guilt or self loathing. If you suffer from those feelings (JWS definitely induce them) Even a few hours of release is like salvation and well worth the hangover.

I bet most of the condemners on this thread have more self esteem than I did. I have it now and drink isn't the issue it was.

But Yes - I chose to drink for most of my adult life - for all the above, because I chose to buy into the lie told me when I was four years old. The babysitter told me (after raping me) that if I said anything, he'd say I "MADE him do that."

By the time I got treatment, I still didn't understand what was going on. My own Mother is still in denial, and just says it is fashionable to cry Child Abuse. My own reality is denied, even now. I didn't even feel like a real human being. Just a JW cut out.

Said enough for now.

last night i was reading from the old orange "paradise" book.

in my quest to understand how ideas got into my head, i decided to go back and look at the book that was used by my parents to study with me 40 some years ago.. i came upon the part dealing with the "original lie" from gen. 3:4,5. at this the serpent said to the woman: "you positively will not die.

for god knows that in the very day of your eating it your eyes are bound to be opened and you are bound to be like god, knowing good and bad".

Any High school graduate could have refuted the creation crap in the "Paradise lost to Paradise regained" book in 1958.

How is it that the all knowing all powerful god told his only appointed representatives to print toilet paper that they would have to renage on 40 years later.

No geologist would say the earth took 40, 000 years to go from molten rock to what we see now. They did and are now eating humble pie.

Maybe it's like the feast Jesus spoke of. Someone took a high seat he thought he deserved, and was told to move down, in front of all the other guests.
