the author of mark thinks that jesus cured the leper after he cured simon peters mother-in-law, but the author of matthew says just the opposite: he thinks that jesus cured the leper before he cured the mother-in-law.
they both cannot be right, so the bible is in error.

Augustine knew that the Scriptures were without error, he just didn't know all about all of it down to the last word. However, he was a leader in dispelling the literal / fundamental views of the time. In his time many literal understandings, such as a weeks creation 6000 years back, were quite easy to accept without question. Surely we can see that a certain amount of literal understanding will always be accepted, such as Christ and the apostles walked.
Good science should be accepted and considered as a helping hand to broader understanding.

Well picked up on with the wineskins. I can't agree that there is ever a contradiction, only a present lack of understanding. I had reckoned he hung himself, but even so, is it a reference to having been strangled? If your ofay with some anagogical understanding, why are you skeptical?

Try not to take this personally, but I feel I should also provide a study.
[Gen 21] It is disturbing to the Lord that the W.T. society was separated as they mocked the legitimate heir (the child from promise, not that of work). God has seen it right though, that the Church disassociates the W.T. society, and is also comforted that it is by promise that the sons of God are called.
Naturally, as has been the case for a couple of thousand years, the Church still suffers under the consistent slander of those in error of faith; the W.T. publications have consistently been directed in a like manner. Pray for those in the Church who are also suffering the consistent onslaught of the desires of the flesh (Satan).
Unfortunately the W.T. society, following Cain, has not understood that they hold others' sacrifice as not as worthy, like they determine their own work to be. They suffer within the ancient aversion to hypocrisy, claiming to be whole yet being a friend of the world (i.e. as those who withhold their worldly goods) - and laying blame with another, putting forward that 'it's the wicked system' ("but the woman you gave me") as if they have no part in driving past Christ in the poor, yet the poor have been blessed, broken and handed out for their sake. "If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he is deceiving his own mind."
As Christians it's right to be aware of such purportings as the 'last days' and "time is at hand". We can trust that such will be revealed by the prophecies that do not come to pass, as indeed it always has. The one who prays for the Holy Spirit will be granted their prayer without delay, quickly. Be sure then that your hearts are right in prayer and not swayed by strange desires, as many not "in Him" desire differently than the care for others from subjection of self. You know many other prayers may be answered, even partly, the devil prayed for Job.

The breadth of love of the WT doctrine goes as far as one's own 'stake' and it is reflected in the type of work. The religion isn't about others as much as it is one's own gain, and it naturally lacks the breadth of love that is the 'light that shines before men'. It's amazing how they've also become symbolically alienated.

He hung himself - climbed up a tree and plumeted down out of it, I suppose. He might have ripped his abdomen on one of the branches or he might have swelled up in the heat and burst, I'd guess his tree would have been a dead one, without shade. Anyway I haven't been told.

Moral? Are their works giving all to the poor, or telling people things from their well fed position.
The trees do match their fruit, that's the teaching. We know the tree by the fruit, so our own perceptions about trees become clarified by the fruit - not the good looking tree surely has good fruit - but, you will know the tree By the fruit.
And the good fruit is different from no fruit, and different from bad fruit. - "make them good or make them bad" - make the tree produce fruit, then you will know about the tree.
- Humility flavours good fruit, good works being a duty of care to mankind.
- No fruit reveals problems, the tree needs preaching etc.
- Bad fruit will taste of pride, deserving, a work for payment etc. There may be plenty of it, but if doesn't taste good what's the use. This fruit is the children that simply can't praise God.
