the author of the matthew gospel was by far the most unreliable of the bibles writers, as evidenced by his appalling lack of understanding of the old testament and his willingness to imagine that it was filled with prophecies of the coming savior.. he was wrong about jesus triumphant ride into jerusalem, about jesus being born of a virgin, about his being born in bethlehem, about being called a nazarene, about herod ordering the slaughter of the innocent children after jesus birth, about judas thirty pieces of silver, and many other events in the life of jesus because he evidently completely misunderstood or misrepresented stories in the old testament.

Worldly way - providing well beyond what's needed to your spouse to the neglect of the poor in the comunity.

Worldly way - setting out to acheive the primary goal of 'success' in money and position, a pleasing thing for well heeled parents to boast of.

Worldly way - getting drunk on your twenty-first so you can 'be a man' like your dad.

Worldly way - driving your merc to church past all those 'sinners' in the street who are going to 'get it' when God comes.

Worldly way - jumping out of the building when your stocks fall, or resting comfortably in your 'success' when they don't.

How many examples of the 'way' things are done in the world do you need? A person could write books.

Does God Really Want to Save Everyone?"

a striking difference of opinion about gods attitude seems to have existed between the author of 1 timothy and the author of 2 thessalonians.

one thinks that god wants all men to be saved, but the other speaks of god deliberately deluding people in order to condemn them.

both pictures of god cannot be true, so there is a clear contradiction.

I don't think so.
You don't seem to understand that God has allowed them to believe what they will, as this medicine is to their benefit. He wants them to be saved, i.e. from their own wickedness, not saved as in 'deluded about who they are while resting in comfort'.

JW/'Heretic' interpretation of 'Lazarus in Hell'

apart from my biblical belief of a resurrection of all ever borned without conditions, the philosophical look on the fall of man, differences in the endtimes and anti legalistic views, i'm jw to people although i'm really a biblestudent.

a guy on another board filled with 'heresy' asked me of a jw interpretation of the lazarus story, maybe some will like this; .

nothing in old testament back up either immortal soul or torment in hell.

is salvation collective or individual?

Knowing God is of course to know in your heart who He is and what He's like and how He is with you and will be with you. Something that may be known by both the mentally handicapped and scientists. The WT society seem to think that He is like they are.

Josephus grew up with priests and high priests, the Jewish 'nobility' and 'royals'. What business would Josephus have had recording the events of a few poor people. Jesus got around with fishermen, publicans, prostitutes and the sick and poor - He is and was meek - just another Roman crucifixion to some.

lets take a look.. i was just musing over the threads that relate to disciplining children by means of physical punishment.

there is plenty of material in the societies magazines that advocate hitting children, in the 60s publications there is even a picture of a man spanking a child.

The powerful delusion is for their good, to stand condemned, and thereby learn to hate the sin. How can you present this as a contradiction if you don't yet know what the delusion is?

You still don't get it, don't bend it. With marriage comes other pressures, things that those in the world do - ways of the world. Of course marriage should be enjoyed.
The Bible doesn't say 'zebra' either, but they are useful for explaining the way black and white stripes look.
