  i've been studying with the jw's for about a year now.

  i know that by nature (or nurture!

  ) i have an addictive personality so i have tried to be real careful that i'm doing the right thing by getting involved with them.

  As I said in an earlier post, their own words are best.

  Take notice though that no apostate was able to refute what I said about them being immoral.

  Your average person doesn't usually lack the humility to admit to that they're truly a sinner.

  Watchtower has made numerous mistakes .... that are now an embarrasment to them. That's neither here nor there though, because Jehovah doesn't look for the things of error.

  Have you heard them say that in regard to others?

  They are under the delusion that Christ is not going to arrive any time soon, that he is delaying

  I don't need to be looking to future dates or 'soon' - He's here with me right now.

  The whole line of reasoning of apostate Jehovah's Witnesses is that if we have been wrong on this or that then that means that we can't be Jehovah's organization as we claim.

  Wrong. Most people know arrogance when they experience it - couple that with a hypocritical selfishness and it gets people rather upset - jealous for God so to speak.

  The organisation stopped using the KJV as it can't support their ideas - it's no coincidence that none of the other serious translations weren't quite 'accurate' enough for them. There were too many questions and no answers - they don't like giving those answers if they're not prepared - and they really don't like it if they are prepared and it falls short - That's when You must be "mentally diseased" or something, but enough of that.

  Check out the fruit - it's simple. You'll see that they're not in the habit of giving, and hey, I'll admit that's not my business - but it does let me know exactly who they are - it's always the tell tale sign.

  Is Death the End?

  for once i will try to post a serious topic so here goes.... most of us here have rejected most if not all of the jw teachings.

  i (as well as most of you) certainly do not believe that armaggedon will arrive someday in the future and everybody who is not a jw will die and the witnesses that are left will rebuild the earth.. so, the question i have is this: what do you think happens when you die?.

  do you go to heaven or hell?

  If your studying the Bible - get a real one.

  You should know though that it's not necessary for 'salvation'.

  If you read the Bible, read the bits about "what do I do".
  You'll probably read "the same as the Samaritan" or "give one of your two" or "sell what you have and give it to the poor" etc. etc.

  I'm not sure that you'll find things like "go and search the scriptures" or "study the Bible all the time" etc. etc.

  Oh, and next time, ask where the Bible came from - who put it together as a christian reference.

  Losing my Religion......

  well at 29 years old, after a lifelong relationship/belief in/association with a higher power i called god, here i am very close to taking an athiestic or agnostic approach to the rest of my life.

  it really hit me the other day although my doubts have been there but i just have been forcing myself to ignore them because i was afraid to give up that religious part of me because its all that i have ever been and i was afraid of the unknown.

  but i realized after getting through another one of those weeks from hell that it makes no difference how much i pray or how much i believe.

  I'm sick and tired of trying to figure out how I'm supposed to be.

  
  Your to be, that's it.

  You're here. That's what God's about. It's your Adventure - Life.

  He's my companion, but how do I know ? I'm here - simple as that.
  So even if I had a shit of a day, guess what - I get some sleep and wake up the next day, maybe have something to eat - it's awesome.

  If you want to "see life" - well, have a look tomorrow.

  You've still got jovy stuff inside your head - pray about that - it'll go. You don't need to be saved now, your free, He hasn't condemned you and neither do I. You will need to be saved from something if you keep up all that 'I'm not good enough stuff'.

  You know what to do - the Good thing that helps your fellow man plainly as you see them in need and you are able - the courage to heed the prompting of the Spirit for the good action, the spiritual person isn't judged. Don't entertain strange things about what is right, you already know, so does just about everyone I've ever met - that's the Spirit - there seems like there's exceptions but.

  See life - see what happens in your day - all the good and all the bad - that's the Adventure.

  Seeking help

  hey, i found this site while bored at work.

  i was wondering if anyone had any advice for me.. i was an athiest as long as i could remember.

  now i am just confused.

  I haven't been in that situation so I can only imagine.

  If you believe in God, then it will be a problem for you to lie - you know that already - you may be able to say nothing though.
  
  If you know that JWism is desolate, you won't ever be able to tell yourself otherwise. In the words of an American actor, "once you've heard the truth, everything else is just cheap whiskey".

  As I said, I haven't been in that situation, but for me, I would always pursue my marriage commitment - my wife is the 'suitable helper' that the Lord provided me with, especially while looking for the kingdom - it's not right at all that I should ever abandon my companion.

  They aren't just like christians though and there's not a lot you can do if she insists on leaving, but it's not an excuse - you are response-able.
  If you're to be a hero in your Adventure that is God, you should consider how you want to have done things, in the future.

  I'd say to stay with them while you're still seeking and keep quiet, and consider the prompting of the Spirit, the courage for what is Good. From what I've read it seems you mightn't have to go to meetings to keep your marriage, but most of all I suppose, be happy with her and be happy for her - she'll cop a load of shit and she'll need a strong, mannered, proper and happy husband.

  Step into the Adventure, this is it, it's now and it's not padded - do the good thing, regardless of what you think you know.

  Which religeon is correct ?

  can anyone name a religeon that is the correct one?.

  my personal criteria would be: shouldnt celebrate holidays/ only study the bible, not publications with someones personal ideas/ people won't worry about dressing in exactly a particular manner, welcoming others personal thoughts on the interpretation of scripture even if it differs from others/ not demand money for membership.. any religeons like this?

  Only study the Bible?

  Do you mean the book that the catholics compiled back in the third or fourth century ?
  Or do you mean the protestant trimming of the catholic's book.
  Or maybe your meaning the one that's been adjusted from the evil people's ideas into what our existence REALLY means - the NWT?

  If it has to be the Bible, try this on.
  "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."

  Hey Saint, good point about narrow paths, but I think you can be part of a tradition, or place, and still on a narrow path.

  i am familiar with the parable, as found in matthew.

  however, i don't understand the jw take on this one.

  jw's like to think of themselves as "sheep" and perhaps someone slamming the door in thier face a "goat.

  Still there YouKnow?

  In all their 'wisdom', the WT society hasn't ventured to explain to you what 'eating upon mountains' is all about, have they, or even why sheep and goats are the study animals. It's more like some extra and useful derrogatory language to them I think.

  Do you really believe that the goats are simply those who ignore JWs, the 'substitutes' for Christ ?
  You can learn a lot more from nature than the WT-BS org.

  Jesus - Michael or God?

  i've been researching this issue for myself - it's a doctrine i was still having problems understanding - is he or isn't he.... i came across a couple of interesting scriptures that i had not noticed before so thought i'd share them with ya'll:.

  1) genesis 1:26 - then god said, "let us make man in our image..." i was taught as a jw that god was speaking to jesus (michael) here.

  if that's true, and jesus/michael is an angel - that would mean that god created angels in his image also (since i refers to "image" as singular - it doesn't say images).

  1 Thessalonians 4:16 says nothing about Jesus being Michael - they sure can squeeze meanings where they need to.

  It says the Lord himself will come down from heaven (I'll take that as Jesus), with a loud command (I'll take that as being the Father saying now is the time), with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God (sounds as though at the time it's announced and proclaimed).

  Military and Scripture

  ok, i was reading on another thread and the poster brought up a side point that made me go "omg"!!!.

  here's the quote:i would serve in the military as did cornelius, a roman army officer who converted to christianity ... and who was never required to leave the military, nor is there in record that he left the roman army.

  it never dawned on me that cornelius was 1)an army officer and 2)no scripture demands his resignation of said position.. any thoughts?
