  comforter started a thread stating how ex-jws won't go from door to door.

  my own hearing is that people aren't supposed to.

  "do not go from house to house".

  so you have a "i'll quote one scholar, you'll quote another" - game.

  i thought beduhn, stafford, kedar, furuli and others had managed to stop this silly game by now.

  The two witnesses and Susannah

  in the second century a mural was drawn from the susannah story on the walls of the roman catacombs - all the early texts included the story of susannah.

  the reformationists/protestants took it out of their bible - i assume the anti-catholic wtbts have also.

  catholics have kept the story in the bible, it's a part of daniel.. it's a story of the 'two witnesses' - elders.

  a man found an eagle's egg and put it in a nest of a barnyard hen.

  the eaglet hatched with the brood of chicks and grew up with them.. all his life the eagle did what the barnyard chicks did, .

  thinking he was a barnyard chicken.

  i just read before that jws can't in good conscience by someone else a ciggarette.

  is that because the 'world' doesn't approve of cigarettes now: too much shame exposure?.

  i'd like to know what jws think that poor in spirit means.. as in 'blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven'.

  Why say Jehovah anymore?

  the wtbts uses the word 'jehovah' to lord it over people.

  it's great that they picked on a made up name - it's a gift horse in the mouth for you to be so at liberty to drop it.

  (i love sayings, you know, a gift , horse / pride, and from their own mouth?)..

  i have been a reader of this message board for a number of years and this is the first comment i have made in that time.

  i have been part of the wts for 20 years my parents believed they had found the truth when i was 10 and from then on we hung to every word uttered from the platform at the kingdom hall.

  Anyone done an 'end of the world' psych study?

  has anyone looked into what psychological factors or psychosocial structures, apart from if your parents were jw, persuade people to believe that the world is going to end soon?

  there are groups of people apart from jws who also succumbe to this perplexing phenomena, and i wonder what triggers it, and/or if there are any official studies on it.

  i reckon it'd make a good thesis.. maybe it's mainly a city thing?.
