  Did Jesus really die on a cross?

  believe it or not this was the very very begining of my demise as a dub.. i picked the simplest thing that dubs disagree with christians on and i thought surely i could come to a conclusion as to wether dubs were right or christendom was right.i wanted to start building my foundation of faith in them.. i can't believe they are still using this stupid illustration of the loved one murdered by the weapon illustration!.

  I really don't see the point on debating whether or not he died on a cross or stake.

  Me either, this is what is so annoying about the WT, they do.

  That is until they start losing the debate, then they claim " well, it's not really important".

  about the nails, doesn't prove it wasn't a stake, hands could have been nailed on each side of the stake.

  If you had to classify Jesus's death as a type of crime I believe suicide would be more

  accurate than murdered as the WT states.

  i read the thread a few days ago about co, & do charles sinutko and his famous 1967 talk that ended with "stay alive 'till 1975".

  it brought back a flood of memories.

  i listened to his talks - randy has plenty of them on his website, too- http://www.freeminds.org/wav/wav.htm.

  doesn't a hypocrite hide theirs so they can punish and condemn others for their sins?.

  if i admit to being the worst sinner on earth...can i ever be considered a hypocrite?

  How exactly does hypocrisy work? Do as I say not as I do.

  Which is worse in Jesus's eyes? Hypocrisy or sin? Hypocrisy

  Jesus was very forgiving to the sinners not so forgiving to the hypocritical Pharisees.

  more important issue for true Christians should be the propriety of venerating the instrument used to kill Jesus. Whether it was an upright single torture stake, a cross, an arrow, a lance, or a knife, should such an instrument be used in worship?

  Suppose a loved one of yours was brutally murdered and the weapon was submitted to the court as evidence. Would you try to gain possession of the murder weapon, take photographs of it, and print many copies for distribution? Would you produce replicas of the weapon in various sizes? Would you then fashion some of them into jewelry? Or would you have these reproductions commercially manufactured and sold to friends and relatives to be venerated? Likely you would be repulsed at the idea! Yet, these very things have been done with the cross!

  What Positive Things Have You Achieved Since Leaving?

  purps' wonderful thread about love made me wonder about something else.

  what have you achieved/become since leaving the organisation that proves there is a happy, successful life outside being a jehovah's witness?

  for me, although it's only been a very short time, too short to achieve much, i count becoming: non-judgemental of my fellow man; a mum that can give her kids all the room to grow and blossom without fear of 'sinning' or being kicked out for bad behaviour; a person that can feel comfortable worshipping in a church or not, depending on whatever i feel like doing; someone who can love and give freely and celebrate life in all it's glory (i just love birthdays!

  CONVERSATION WITH MY JW SISTER LAST NIGHT......

  well i guess this was a long time in coming, but yesterday afternoon, my family all got together and had a bbq at my parents' home.

  when my parents left at around 6:00pm to drive my one non-dub sister home, my other sister and brother in law (former elder), stayed for a while longer.. we've never discussed my leaving 'the truth' a couple of years ago but she brought it up last night and we started talking about the religion.

  everyone had been drinking but no one was drunk, so alot got said.
