Anyone here remember the nuke bomb drills in gradeschool in the early to mid 60's? As ineffective as they would have been, it made eveyone think that they were at least doing something to protect themselves. I also remember all the bomb shelter signs around town. JC Penney's Basement in Lloyd Center Mall was one location.

Turbulent times hard to deal with.
by Daunt ini have to go to the district assembly or convention or whatever its called this weekend.
it's just crippling to my naturally good mood to think about the multiple hours of bullcrap i will have to endure.
do you guys have any tips or experiences to help me pass the boredom without getting into too much trouble?

by BrendaCloutier inok. i "won" a "fully favorable" social security disability claim on august 29, 2005. from there it takes 2 - 6 months to receive a letter outlining just how much i will receive in back pay and in monthly.. today i got an envelope with $29,794.00.
no letter, no nothing!.

JW83 - I "won" it cuz I got sick. And can no longer work. It's Social Security Disability - insurance money I paid into the "system".

LadyLee, keep at em. Don't let the buzzards get you down. I don't know what Canada is like, but it was a 2 year 8 month process for me. 2 rejections and the hearing which was actually rather bizaar.
I've filed 2 times before and never could see it though until now.

So. First thing tomorrow I call my attorney's office and see what they've received.
Then I go to my bank, pay off my ancient late fees, and deposit the check, including $5,000 in a 6 month CD savings for a trip to E-mans BBQ in England next July.
Then I pay back my wonderful Kevan for his financial support and owsies for the last 4 years.
Then I'll go up and visit my GF in Seattle who's been after me to come up for months now.
Then.....

my family and i are in the process, actually, we have left because of many of the issues brought up on this forum.
this, being jw's, is all that we have ever known.

I've been out for a long time. I got out young. So I really don't have any solid answers for you except:
It takes time. (and that's the one I hate!)
Be gentle with yourselves. Allow the grieving process to happen. You are already experiencing this grieving.
Replace your JW time with other activities. If you are still religiously bent, then explore other churches. But be kind to yourself and others, and don't go overboard and replace one religion with another.
Volunteer with your newfound free time. If you have children, get involved at school.
The worst is the fear. The fear of the Big A, and the fear that "they" are right. They've been wrong about so many things that I doubt that they will every be "right".
Stick around. Lots to read here, and many here to help with this process.

Of course in the book study we were told that Jehovah's angels who are holding back the four winds intervened because the sealing of the 144,000 was incomplete.
