The brainwashing never goes away and what you know as a lie, fun or not just doesnt seem to work for me, especially at my age. My kids were never baptized and didnt want to fit into the borg, so they have adjusted holiday veiws and have normal holidys, your not wrong with wanting to be like everyone else, it just that being so different for so long makes it feel strange, good luck in your freedom, have fun.

i only had christmas until i was 5 when my mom converted to jw.
before that, christmas was really big in our house.

Crazy JW Urban Legends
by Wordly Andre inok its time to recount all your favorite crazy jw urban legends, ill start i remember this one was told to me after i had left the org, there was a newly married couple, they were good little dubs, evil mother in law lived with them, she did not want to convert or study, well time went on they had a baby, and mother in law was into some spiritual stuff, unknown to jw mommy and daddy.
anyway jw mommy wakes up one night to find little baby dub sitting inside the fish tank with most of the water taken out and there was some kind of evil spirit present, mommy dub yells out jemimas name and breaks free with baby dub.
evil mother in law is asked to leave their happy home.

And then theres the one where a man bedriden with a broken leg, lay and watched a bird build its nest on his window sill all the time he wwas recooperating, he watch every day with great interest in how this little archetic was able to build this strong little home for such flimsy materials, he waited till the egges were laid and hatched and the baby birds fledged and flew away. Intrigued, he carefully unraveled the nest and examined its contents, among the materials was a scrap of paper that read watchtower Bible and tract soceity, he got in contact with the local congregation and is now a good brother.
God I did that to well.

Have You Ever Rejected Being Appointed an Elder/MS Before the Announcement?
by GermanXJW inwhen i was a jw several brothers (ms) told me in private that the elders had asked them several times if they did not want to become an elder.
they said they rejected because it was too much responsibility for them.
were you ever approached that the boe wanted to make you an elder but you refused?

After getting out of prison the first meeting I attended I was asked, and the elder arrangement had just been instituted, there were 2 congregation in prison and we had regular visits from circut overseerers despensing bethel light, I had sudied every publication from the forties and wore out two Bibles, the elder arrangement took on too much importance to itself, now they say they are the seven stars of the congregations mentioned in Rev. I first refused on the basis that I was not a regular publisher, having been inactive in prison for over a year, they were willing to wave that requirement, then I got blunt with them and said that that appointment was not by holy spirit and was failable and if a mistake was ever made elders would be blood guilty. We all here know how much blood there is on their hands.

Believe in yourself....you got yourself into the borg, and you got yourself out..live what you believe, worship has always been an individual act, what you know, what you believe, is right for you, and you alone. Be through all that, tasted the steel of my 357, but knew that others ideas and beliefs drove those insane thoughts. Keep learning who you are and where you fit in with Gods plan, we are many shaped plegs and there is a holw shaped just for you.

I have a serious and I need your help.....
by Faithful-n-Discreet Wife inthis time last year i met the man of my dreams...he was incredibly smart and charming...he was in tune with me...he made me feel like i was the best thing that ever happened to him.
at first he was a little shy...he didn't think anyone of my caliber would even give him a chance...conveniantly though i had my run of bad guys...and wanted someone different.
he was a devout christian...and i had been yearning for years for some direction.
