Yes celebrating on july the 4th is wrong, The night to celebrate with fireworks is june the 17th, the queens birthday. Poor old King George 111 never got over losing the colonies and all over a lame excuse of not wanting to pay there taxes. The colonies had just been freed from French oppression and England had the right to extract some compensation in taxes to offset the considerable cost of the war. Just remember folks June 17th the Queens birthday.

Is celebrating the 4th of July really wrong??
by Lady Liberty ingood evening all.... well, like many of you i have, and am still doing my share of never ending research.
thought i would do a little research on the 4th of july and what its "roots" were.
as a witness, i had never given much thought to it except it was a nationalistic day to be patriotic, and it was a no no for us to participate in.

Aboriginal Day of Protest
by Paralipomenon inup in canada there have been alot of frustrations over native land claims.
there is a governmental backlog of over 600 claims and the native communities are getting frustrated.
several tribes have taken up occupying controversial areas and there have been a few road blocks of crucial transport systems.

Gday Sam87,
In the past Aboriginal communities were dry and were much better off than they are now. You know the situation as it is unfolding now with the prime minister announcing the inititives to help aboriginal communities to get them off alcohol and declaring communities dry. As I have said either on purpose or not aboriginal people have been controled by alcohol.

The most amazing thing is the WT Society lists there opinion on this as a major doctrine. It comes from memory about third in their list of doctrines.

Here in Australia we have a different way of controlling the Aboriginals. The government gives them lots of handouts, the aboriginal people call it sit down money, that they use to buy lots of grog and there too anebreiated to try anything such a day of protest

Education Talk from Follow the Christ DC
by FadingAway injustitia themis had a topic 'disgusting comment re: education from tacoma 2007 district convention' regarding a talk on education that those pursuing degrees would be d.e.a.d.
unfortunately that stupid comment was not made at the dc i attended, but i am providing the audio to let ones know how far the society is going in discouraging ones from pursuing college by using weak and tired arguments.. http://www.box.net/shared/s523re4c7i.

I just listened to the talk and its amazing how two different cults could be so different. The SDA religion actually promotes higher education and they have their own colleges. Of course higher education has its own problems for cults like thinking for oneself and it does cause some problems for the SDA leadership when people are trained to be smart.
The speaker brought up old memories at the Kingdom Hall of how much they use the word Jehovah, constantly.

7th Day Adventists & J-Dubs
by Black Man incan we consolidate a comprehensive thread on what beliefs the dubs ripped off, ahem co-opted from the adventists.
i believe the birthdays and some of the end-times speculation came from them.
i've been interested in seeing how much of an influence they have been.

I just found on the SDA Official website the SDA attitude to other christian groups and their attitude to apostates. Some of you might be thinking Im preaching here but nothing could be farther from the truth in some areas I strongly disagree with SDA doctrine like the investigative doctrine and 1844
SDA attitude to other christians. From the official website
We recognize those agencies that lift up Christ before men as part of the divine plan for evangelization of the world and we hold in high esteem christian men and women in other communions who are engaged in winning souls to Christ.
SDA attitude to Apostates.
We recognize that true religion is based on conscience and conviction. It is therefore to be our constant purpose that no selfish interest or temporal advantage shall draw any person to our communion and that no tie shall hold any mamber save the belief and conviction that in this way the true connection with Christ is found. If a change of conviction leads a member of our church to feel no longer in harmony with SDA faith and practice we recognize not only the right but the responsibility of that member to change, without opprobrium, religious affilliation in accord with belief. We expect other religious bodies to respond in the same spirit of religious liberty.

That Evil Disco??
by WTWizard inback in october 1983, there was a craptower study article that effectively banned disco, rock, and funk music.
it also spelled the end of those rollerskating parties that the congregations used to organize.
now, i can see their reasoning behind the rock (backmasking satanic messages) and funk (dirty), even though it is very specious.. however, the "evil disco" strikes me as weird.

Many of the hymns of Christendom have the tunes of popular music and some of the protestant reformers have said " Why should the devil have all the good music'.
