a saudi court sentenced a woman who had been gang raped to six months in jail and 200 lashes more than doubling her initial penalty for being in the car of a man who was not a relative, a newspaper reported thursday.. the decision by the qatif general court came in a case that had sparked rare debate about the kingdom's justice system when it surfaced more than a year ago.. in its decision wednesday, the court also roughly doubled prison sentences for the seven men convicted of raping the 19-year-old woman, the arab news reported on its english-language web site.. according to arab news, the court said the woman's punishment was increased because of "her attempt to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media.".

she had initially been sentenced to 90 lashes after being convicting her of violating saudi's rigid laws on segregation of the sexes.. under saudi arabia's interpretation of islamic sharia law, women are not allowed in public in the company of men other than their male relatives.. the initial sentences for the men convicted of the gang rape ranged from 10 months to five years in prison.

The Pakistarnie law is exactly the same women their have to leave the country or put up with their tormentor. One women complained to police and the police beleived she was a loose women so they all raped her as well. Great laws arent they.

Anyway I think Merry will eventually turn around and we will have her back.

I dont have a problem with torture if it gets good results and with some personality types it does. Himbalie was tortured and afterward they couldnt shut him up with quality information.

I just wish Bush and others would stop being so wimpish and admit they do torture. If they dont they in my opinion are not doing there job properly.

Islamic terrorists cant be persuaded with money, power or any of the usual carrots Bin Laden is a complete fanatic and to him the terrorism will only stop on the day of judgement. Nothing to him and al Quadia matters except murdering the infidels.

I had a muslim mate here in Australia to him fighting for god was the only thing that mattered and to him atomic weapons to blow up the west wernt a problem either. He explained these attitudes to us if he were to follow his religion correctly.

This is very scarey and to argue wheather it is moral to torture when information may be extracted out of people when they may know some information about a bomb that may have atomic material to kill ordinary people for years to come and may make areas uninhabitable.

I say it is immoral not to torture.

the issues and problems ex-jws face and about keeping an eye on developments within the wt org, why would anybody .

Ive never been a jw but I come here for two reasons.

My first wife allmost became a jw soon after we were married and I studied with the jws too.

My own religion the SDAs has a large group called the concerned bretherine which in some ways remind me of JW cultic attitudes. Some SDAs also are Arian like the JWs

a british museum has canceled a lecture by dr. james watson, co-discoverer of the dna double helix, after he claimed black people are less intelligent than whites in a recent newspaper interview.. watson, who won the 1962 nobel prize for his part in discovering the structure of dna, provoked a storm of criticism after his comments were published in the sunday times.. the eminent biologist told the british newspaper he was "inherently gloomy about the prospect of africa" because "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours -- whereas all the testing says not really.".

watson, 79, had been due to give a lecture at london's science museum on friday but the museum canceled his appearance, saying his comments had "gone beyond the point of acceptable debate.".

The artical about this bloke appeared in our newspapers yesterday and i think he was just giving an opinion without any hard evidence and the artical also said there may be genetic intellegence tests within 10 years. He was also commenting on how help given to African countries may be misplaced because of lower intellegence.

I think many people confuse cultural factors with their assesments on how smart they beleive a person or race is. I cant comment on negro people because we dont have many of them here in Australia. We have the aboriginals here in Australia and at first glance it would appear they are of very low intellegence, most dont work but live on welfare and dont seem to mind liveing in the most appaling conditions. Aboriginal people that have been taken out of their culture seem to have very little differences in intellegance than the wider population. Aboriginal trakers are very cleaver and are used by the police in crimes solving and cant be equalled anywhere in the world. The Australian aboriginals have negro looks but are actually closer to the caucasian race than any other race.

We have thousands of them where I live most are wild and are very destructiveof anything man made. They destroy the streetlights. as pets they have a filthy mouth usually from copying there owners.

Im confused about the Trinity, and who believes it Help please

just to recap, ive had a nice baptist pastor stopping by my house about once a month for the past 8 months.a very kind soul, we always have the most interesting discussions.him learning about how i was raised as a jw and their belief system, and i learning about his being born again, the trinity, heaven, views on armageddon, etc.

it has all been very interesting, me being raised a jw and now hearing what another denomination believes, especially about the 144,000 and why they feel it isn't a literal number.

also, i am on his regular "field ministry,", and this is shocking to me as i was always taught the other religions don't go door to door like us, with the exception of mormons - lds.. anyway, he made the comment to me that very view christian denominations did not believe in the trinity.he stated that really only small handful of denominations such as jws, mormons, and a few other cultic types dont accept the trinity.this was shocking to me, because asjw i always believed most everyone outside of catholicism and lutheranism believed as jw did, that jesus was gods son, and a totally separate created being.

Many of the millerites didnt beleive the trinity doctrine because many had come from the christian connection a non trinitiarian group. As a result the SDA still have many in there church who dont beleive the trinity. Of course the official position in the SDAs is the doctrine of the trinity.

The JWs also had connection with the millerites and the second adventists which influenced there position against the doctrine.

In practice christians worship Jesus and the holy spirit and Jehovah without thinking of the workings of the trinity doctrine .
