  What is the true Christian religion / faith?

  i,m going to cut to the chase here .i am not long viewing this website and am fascinated at much of what i have read.currently i attend meetings, but sit there and think of what i now know about the society and its past.i just feel so confused at the moment with religion.. its a bit like who shot jfk ,did man really land on the moon etc .. except it involves all of us( just wish i knew the truth).

  the only thing that is keeping me there right now is that all my family are in the "truth" ,,and i cant just stay at home and be shunned which i have recently experienced ( was inactive for a while) .. if i knew beyond any shadow of a doubt that i have found the true faith and discern that it is definately the true faith, i would then make a stand and nothing would stop me .

  already i am reading the scriptures without the aid of wt publications and what i am reading is amazing .i am starting to feel that i am now getting closer to god by simply doing this coupled with prayer.. there must be one true faith as there was in the first century.

  Im An SDA Seventh Day Adventist but sadly in my own Church many have it wrong and I would consider many in other Churches which I fellowship with have it right. Such is the state of the Church in our own century as it was in the early Church.

  I beleive the gospel is the good news. News about something that has happened. It is about someone else. The good News of the gospel is that the son of god took our nature to pay the dept we owe to righteousness, to remove the barrier that we might be treated as he deserves.

  There are and always have been only two religions in the world. The most popular religion is where humans endeavour to make themselves good enough for God to accept. It preaches. "Be holy and God will love you '.

  But the true religion of the gospel , 'this man Jesus receives sinners Luke15;2 God "justifies the ungodly Romans4;5 for christ goes to be with those who acknowledge themselves as sinners Luke19;7

  By Grace Alone

  We are saved by grace alone received through faith alone beccause of the work of Christ alone as revealed the the only infallible of truth -the Word of God alone.

  The moment we beleive . Christ,s own perfect righteousness is imputed to us and remains ours for all our days provided we continue to look to him, despite a hundred or a thousand failures.

  At all stages of our experiance we are saved by faith alone, but the faith that saves is never alone. Even on Judgement day we will be saved by faith alone though our works will testify to the reality of that faith despite their infinite imperfections.

  The gospel is the sweetest melody from human lips. 'the good , glad and merry tidings that makes a man,s heart to sing and his feet to dance.

  Im SDA and I beleive I know as much about cults as anyone here. There are many different varieties of SDA some very cultic which are no different to the WT cult.

  The worst cult is a offshoot of SDAs in the 1920s called the Shepards Rod this cult developed into the cult at Waco in Texas some SDAs joined this cult a school teacher at the Church I go to joined but escaped the disaster. My wife is Catholic and she still calls me a Davidian because of that.

  In SDAs there are cults within the Church not far from where I live there is a group who beleive that if you are a beleiver you wouldnt need to go to a doctor because you wouldnt get sick. They dont put there cultic idears into practice because one of my friends who is SDA is married to one but they still go to the doctor. These groups have there own meetings.

  Another group of SDAs in a place called Deniliquin about 300km from here are very strange. There women where long dresses have buns in there hair and look like something out of little house on the prairy. Im thinking of going out to see them one day and visit there Church.

  I think I know just as much about cults as anyone as Ive said before my x wife was a JW study and that gave me a few problems.

  If anyone wants to know about Cults maybe I would have some information from a different perspective. Barry

  Strange Encounter With Dubs Just Now

  i was just up at a neighbour's place, standing at the door talking to her, when two dub ladies came up the path on what turned out to be a return visit.

  the neighbour said "not today" and hid inside and i dismissed myself, following the ladies out of the yard.

  what was strange is that they didn't acknowledge me at all, even though i was right behind them.

  How much should home owner's insurance cost in a mortgage?

  on my "good faith" estimate that the mortgage company gave me several months ago they put $100 per month.

  i have been calling around and i'm hearing things like $3250 a year ($271 a month).. did the mortgage company twist the numbers to help reel me in?

  We have insurance here in Australia for house and contents house value of $300,000 and the annual price is about $300. I think I would get another quote Elswhere.

  I'm a new churchgoer, communion question

  i've only in the last month started attending a non-denominational church.

  i was absolutely shocked by what i experienced, and not because of the lightening i thought might strike me down as i crossed the threshhold.

  while many were attentive and friendly, no one pried into my religious history, or tried to railroad me into coming back.

  Some Churches have footwashing before communion the SDAs do that and some others. The majority of protestants including the cultic SDAs have open communion and invite all who have been baptised to partake. Barry

  Pitcairn Islanders - Paedophiles?

  the descendents of the crew of captain blighs ship, hms bounty, still live on the tiny uk dependancy of pitcairn island in the pacific.

  they number a mere 47, the islands total population.. many have been accused of molesting under-age children, and the uk government has set up court on the island to resolve the matter.

  I just got back from the SDA church and in the Record a free periodical published weekly I found an artical on Pitcain Island.

  The heading read. Church sends support for Pitcairn Island.

  The South Pacific Division has sent pastoral support to remote Pitcairn Island during an upcoming trial. Pastor Ray Coombe and his wife, Daphne, departed for the Island on Sept. 19.

  In 1999, allegations of abuse rocked the tiny island community of just under 50 people. After much attention from the international media, the island is now bracing itself for the trial of seven Pitcairn Islanders.

  It will take Pastor and Mrs Coombe five days to get to the island by boat and plane, but Pastor Coombe says it will be "well woth it.'

  The church and community there needs pastoral support during the trial and media attention. We want them to know we care for them,' he says.

  The Coombes will stay on the island until mid October when Pitcairn,s replacement pastor is due to arrive. The island has been without a pastor for the past few months.

  Lyle Burgoyne, serving as pastor and medical officer, enjoyed both his roles on Pitcairn, but had to return earlier this year when the British government stipend ended in order to assign a doctor to Pitcairn.

  The island once boasted an all Adventist population, but the membership has dropped significantly over the past 60 years. Now only eight to ten of the islanders regularly attend worship services.

  The Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific asks church members to keep the people of Pitcairn Island in their prayers. Adam Sparke.

  Because of all this my wife calls me a Davidian again. Remember those people in Waco Texas she called me a Davidian because of all that because they were an offshoot of the Adventist Church in the 1920s. Im so glad you people on here dont call me a Davidian. Barry

  Ive heard it said there are more divisions in Catholisism than in the whole of Protestantism and it is because of the hierarchael nature of the Catholic church. That being the case it would also be true of the JWs only while there is extreme high control the diversity doesnt surface. So just wait when the JWs have more freedom. There will be an explosion of differing beleifs. Barry

  Comming from the SDAs where there is many doctrinal positions the JWs were very attractive with a universal truth everyone beleiving the same and they seemed to have very high moral standards. When I found out how they treat there own people with shunning and dissfellowshiping and such I changed my mind. Barry
