The Archie's in 1969 "Sugar Sugar"? For me it was all about being a kid, summertime, ice cream and the A & W drive in for a hot dog & root beer. I hear it on the drive home yesterday and turned it way up. How about anyone else?

Will they ever be mainstream?
by Justin insome religions which have been on the fringe of society are eventually accepted into the mainstream because they have an aspect which is socially acceptable or beneficial to society.
for example, the seventh day adventists have hospitals and the mormons have the tabernacle choir.
but the jws seem to have nothing with which to appeal to the larger culture.

There's that word "commendable" again! Aaaaarg!! Now I see where my JW husband gets it from. It's "commendable" to open and operate a hospital????? COMMENDABLE????? Gee, it's just temporary to save yuor life after this disaster, Mr. Jones. Better to leave you to suffer or die, because you know the only permanent solution is........................
Uuuuugggghhh..........I hate that word, commendable. So condescending!
I'll get off the sopabox now, sorry folks.

Is country music more approved than any other for a witness?
by wordlywife inmy husband has recently started listening almost exclusively to country.
occasionally we would listen to it before, but every time i get in a car he has driven or we are riding he has it on, when before we always had classic rock on.
i don't mind country music, but this recent change of listening habits in light of his having commenting priveledges back again makes me wonder if listening to anything but country is frowned upon by wt ordinances?

The Bible fell apart for me when I began really thinking about the Noah/Flood story. No way that could have happened. Also, I can't buy the idea of praying for others. Either God helps me 'cause he's willing to, or he doesn't. The idea that he'll only help me after somebody else asks him to is ludicrous, in my opinion.
Rah rah rah, AlmostAtheist. This is how I feel exactly. What if an army of folks are praying for me, and what they are praying for doesn't happen? Do I lose faith in my friends? In God for not listening to them? No no no....What about the Auschwitz horror (60th anniversary)? God didn't listen to all those prayers said by millions? Oh yeah, that's the wrong religion, so God won't listen to them. NO NO NO....
Can't understand it at all. Prayer in general. God would already know what I need or want.

Just in case any of you check back on this thread, finally we talked last night and remarkably have come to agreement. He does respect my right to my owen beliefs and to teach the girls the same. He says he is worried for them though (because I have no proof to any WHY questions they might ask), but I said I don't have all the answers, but was happy for him that he feels he does, for him. We have agreed to disagree. And, as far as the new baby goes, we will share in takin gturns with bringing child to KH and my church. This is not to say I don't get nervous about that idea in the future.
He must be different than a lot of other JW men. From what I have read here some insist on their way or the highway??
Anywho, just wanted to let anyone know how this was resolved, but that I do expect more disagreements to come. I hope that some day he tires of the whole process of BEING JW. (Meaning the constant study, meetings, etc.) It is a tiresome process.
Thanks again all-

Mom slipped me an Awake magazine
by Mulan inlast week my mother gave me a woman's magazine that she had read at the home where she lives.
it had organization tips and recipes she thought i would enjoy.
i hadn't looked at it until two days ago, after she asked me if i had read it yet.

It would irk me that she would slip you that in another magazine, and irks me more that by doing so implies you need to lose weight! Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, just ranting!
