One person clapped at MY reinstatement! It was hilarious. She came up afterwards and we actually had a good chuckle about it. She said she was embarrassed but thought that it was only right that I should be congratulated.

Religion is not rational or it would not be religion. Good point and one I won't forget. I am only sad that he is so conditioned to respond to such questions that 'thinking' about his answer is unnecessary.

I would never say anything to this boy as I work in the school he attends. I would never be anything but kind to him, if I could ever get the chance to say something outside of school. I just needed to vent and pretend that I COULD for once, say exactly what was running through my mind.

I almost choked on my pencil wanting to say something, then decided to keep the pencil in my mouth to avoid saying something.

So I will say something to him, here, where it is safe.

"WHAT! Where does the bible say to celebrate weddings or anniversaries, or baby or wedding showers, or a going away party or a graduation party or a pioneer party or the numerous other 'celebrations' that you hold? Come on, you can do better than that (insert name) THINK about what you are saying, don't just spew off a prerecorded answer!"

Witness kids having online discussion

i ran across this discussion for a kids forum.

All that matters is this:

These kids are talking, thinking and discussing their religion with others. It is not a door to door kind of discussion where they are offering something, they will have no choice but to think critically to either refute or support their claims.

My 15 year old and my 10 year old know the routine because it has not changed since they were born. During the week, we sit together. Fri nights are slacker as is Sat, but Sunday is always a big family special meal.

We talk, laugh, argue, and discuss during these things. That is what families do.

a lot has happened to me since march.

i have learned so much.

i hesitated to put this out in jwd, but i now think that if it helps one person, it will have been worth it.

Codeblue: Thank you for your words. Yes, my brother still does not contact me at all. I have tried emailing him a few times, but nothing much on his part. I know that he does not view me as worthy yet and another thing, he does not want to talk about the past at all. I can't move on, until he validates the pain I have gone through. My mother shuns me still. I have no idea why.

Sass: You are so right. And this is no ones decision but your own. I only hope to allow ppl thinking about reinstatement to go in with eyes wide open. I did this for family and it DOES feel good to know that I now have the freedom to call them if I choose to, without them hanging up on me.

My SIL is still my friend. My hope is that we will someday become best friends again, but only time will tell. I gave so much for her, I do not know if she will ever realize the sacrifice that I made, for her. For now, I am just seeing where this journey takes me.

I can't read the WT and AWAKE anymore

hundreds of supplementary publications written by unnamed authors that can hide behind the watchtower and bible tract society and say anything without referencing it.

lately, i have been thinking that this is one of the reasons that the society does not encourage higher education.

try handing in an essay without your name on it, try not referencing your essay, try having no works cited, try to have only 1 works cited, try quoting out of context, try spewing statistics or numbers or trends in your essay with no reference or date, add ellipsis that only alert your instructor to the potential of hidden information, or try presenting as support for your thesis a third party quote.

Your essay would be deemed, "unsupported" and you could fail or receive an extremely low mark, yet JWes not only use the WT and AWAKE 'articles' as guides on how to live life according to bible principles, but encourage others to do so as well !!!

They do nothing for me, they are silly fluff to read now. They insult my intelligence, and I don't even have that much of it to begin with.

Defd: I agree. People are not in it for Jehovah. At least YOU realize that, but the entire religion has been set up to mislead their members into believing that they ARE in it for God, when in fact, they are worshipping and following an organization.

You and a few others that I know, are JWs with the enlightened awareness that you need to separate God and the Organization. That makes you a quasi-Jehovahs Witness. Sadly, the majority do not realize this and buy into EVERYTHING that the grandmasters say.

Just read your latest post Lady Lee.

Same thing with me and my situation. My ex husband abused me for 14 + years of our marriage. One night in 2001, after an 'episode', I finally called the police. He was charged with assault, harrassment, and uttering threats. He was eventually charged.

I met someone else, married that person, was df'ed for it. He was publically reproved only and is now remarried (using his free ticket) and is an "outstanding" member of the congregation he attends.

I was invited by the elders after 2 1/2 months of meeting attendance to submit my letter for reinstatement.

At the jc meeting, they started by asking me why I was df'ed. I said, "Adultry" They said, NO, an unrepentant attitude. (opps, strike one)

They proceeded to read tons of scriptures to me and made me read some.

They asked me what I have been doing to gain my spirituality back again, how I have reconciled what happened to me, if my husband was supportive and would he study, if my girls would come to meetings with me, if I was angry with the elder body, if I realized that disfellowshipping was my choice, what my future spiritual goals were, what I have learned. They ended it by asking me to leave the room for 5 mins while they discussed. Called me back in and said, "We see no reason not to reinstate you."

They did not ask any doctrinal questions. They did not ask me if I believed this to be God's organization on earth. They did not ask me to keep quiet about what had happened to me at the hands of my ex. They did say that I would have no privledges for a while. It was quite laid back and more of a 4 way conversation than an interrogation. They mostly listened while I talked. They ended the meeting by saying that they hope this is the beginning of another journey for me and that my reinstatement helps me to continue to heal.
