  January 15 WT : Beware of Apostasy

  the following is taken from the watchtower of january 15, 2006, page 23 under the heading 'resist the foremost apostate': .

  There will be a blitz, a panic cleansing, guilty ones will stop questioning, find their faith again, stop internet searching, and then it will die down and the trickling into sites that encourage debate will start up again/continue.

  This is just a pattern of the organization, but it is quickly forgotten or dulled, this technique is not new and members are use to jumping in with 2 feet, or being pushed in, but quietly stepping out when no one is looking or the hoopla dies down. It is bound to happen because they attack the symptoms of a problem, not the problem itself.

  1. Point out massive problem-Blitz the flock-Campaign

  2. Guilt members into compliance

  3. Repeat above every 6 months because it is still a problem.

  Parental Obligation - Please Define

  Horrible and wrong, I am glad your son has you. I believe that parents never stop being parents. I still wish I had my mother around to offer 'motherly' advice about raising my own kids, marriage, work, etc...but I don't. I'll always parent my children, regardless of age or religious choice.

  My ex did that too, to my oldest daughter, and she was only 13 at the time, he said, "If you don't want to come to meetings, you are not welcome to come over."

  It Seems That My Children Are Not Trained

  i just returned home from the kingdom hall.

  i am an elder.. after the meeting all the elders were called to the back room.

  i thought this was an impromptu elders' meeting.

  They complain that children are noisy at meetings, but do nothing to offer them a place of their own. KHs are not kid friendly. Many churches have separate programs for children. The teens in the church take turns either babysitting, or teaching a preschool program of fun 'Christian' activities, AGE APPROPRIATE. I was shocked to see how important children are in the local churches in my community and how they are welcomed, doted on, and taught appropriately. Jesus said to let the children come to him, whereas others wanted them to just 'shutup' and 'go away'.

  I am sorry that you and your wife were blamed for having perfectly normal children. Here we go with them saying, "It's YOU, YOU, YOU" It is never their fault. Jez

  How Do JWs Show They're Hypocrites?

  one thing that always pissed me off was when "faithful wives" used to blame their "unbelieving husbands" for making them celebrate birthdays, exchange xmas gifts, go to "worldly" get togethers, play the lottery, etc.

  impact of meetings/assemblies on my non-JW life

  i grew up jw and like many of you spent countless hours in boring meetings and long assemblies that seemed to go on forever.

  as a little kid i developed a talent for sitting at the meeting or assembly and looking as though i were paying attention but honestly i wasn't even in the room.

  i perfected this over a number of years and now find that as a non-jw adult it's really a problem.

  No, I am hungry for knowledge, it excites me now. I seem to pay attention more in my university courses most of my other classmates. I believe that it comes down to the fact that I relish the thought of:

  *being in a place that I want to be

  *I can publically disagree

  *I can participate in respectful debates

  *I can give my opinion freely

  *I am furthering my education in a useful way

  *I am feeding my brain useful information

  *I am still awed by the concept there is no 'right' answer, just be able to support your opinion

  *I always use to take notes during assemblies and meetings to stay focused, so taking meaningful notes comes easy to me.

  Maybe you need to give your brain time and knowledge to separate from what it is used to doing to what it wants to be doing. A re-training program for your brain. Maybe the meetings you are attending really are dry and boring. Can't do anything about that. It may not be your background as a JW at all. Could be a ton of other things.

  Before getting married in a JW hall were you if you have had sex?

  just want to know if it is normal practice for the elder giving your wedding talk to ask you and your partner if youve had sex, about 1 week before youre due to get married?.

  happened to us, and we were f'in shocked!.

  I moved out of my house when I was 16, lived with my b/f and his father for a month, then with his grandmother, finished highschool, got married at 17. Had been having sex for a year, the elders SHOULD have guessed it, but they just met with us and asked in a roundabout way, "Are you clean before Jehovah.?." Something like that. We both said, "YES". We were married in a KH, by an elder, big party etc. I felt like an incredible hypocrite. I hated that wedding and everything associated with it.

  WHY put this label on the JW's exclusively!

  Because the GB both overtly and covertly encourage/demand a superficial appearance. The district managers tell the circuit managers who tell the store managers who then tell the employees. Everyone is responsible in this trickle down management style for pushing for hypocrisy. They will not call it that, but it is all about how the world views them, numbers, clothing, not bringing reproach on Jeh or his organization, not stumbling others, who answers, who puts in time, what position do you hold, are you reaching out, are you at the meetings, can you regurgitate material eloquently, etc.

  They are masters at it, and deep down, they know it, but many just refuse to look down there and see what that little nigglin feeling is all about, and if you do....the GB tell you that it is YOUR fault, you are not spiritual enough, pray more, you are weak, you are not doing enough, you are letting Saten in your life, you you you you you....so then,,,,again,,,,you deny that your inner self is in a state of constant imbalance and you plug on for awhile again...until it happens again....then the GB tell you that it is YOUR fault.....(see above)

  Is there any hope of you coming back to Jehovah?

  my brother is a self proclaimed apostate.

  i see now that there is a wide variety of posters here.

  so to those that have left the witnesses what would it take to get you back?

  I left because my husband abused me for 14 years, when he was charged, arrested, and convicted, he got publically reproved....when I remarried, I got disfellowshipped. Does that seem like something Jesus would do? Is that showing love, as the identifying mark of the true religion???

  some how that Satan was able to get to him when he was vulenerable

  Would you ever consider the possibility that Satan has YOU, maybe God led your brother out and is trying to lead you out as well by bringing you to this site? Doesn't it scare you about the possibility of the Watchtower being a wolf in sheeps clothing, or a false prophet, or everything they say other religions are?

  Look into it yourself, empower yourself with knowledge that is not just one sided.
