Consider how a Christian whom we will call Mary got caught in a situation that brought her dangerously close to committing sexual immorality. Her husband, who is not one of Jehovah's Witnesses, displayed very little affection for his family.

Mary! Ummm, sounds made up to me. How do they find these stories? Another example of how they give themselves whatever 'creative license' they want....because they don't even use real names! There is never a way to verify any of these 'real life experiences'.

Another thing, the husband displayed very little affection for his family. This is HIS problem and yet she has to stay and suffer, regardless of the situation at home. Notice, her situation at home doesn't improve at all, she just learns how to shut up and put up with it.

Exactly what the elders told me to do, when after 14 years of silence, I told them the truth about my abusive husband. I was to learn how to put up with it and 'trust in Jehovah' more. One elder even said, "Come on, we have sisters right here in our congregation that have learned how to live with alcoholic husbands!" At that point, I kicked them out of my house.

Over it, but articles like this, can still piss me off. Jez

Been in an longdistance relationship with a married woman

i have a situation that i need help with....2 1/2 yrs ago i met a woman online she is 20 yrs older then me 41 now as i am 23...i fell in love with her and i never have been in a long relationship.

i know she is married but very unhappy...we been having a long distance affair for 2 1/2 years and i love her more then anything in this world...i have made her very happy and just the other day she feels trapped knowing she will be destroyed...i did not know what jw's were so i have been going to learn so i could understand her.

i need help scriptures anything that i can use to help her leave her mentally abusive husband.

If you really love her, understand this: If YOU are the catalyst that pulls her out of the religion, her marriage and her sense of self then you are in fact setting her back years in her recovery. She is going from one dependancy to another, which not only equates to NO growth on her part but actually a regression.

If you accept ownership for 'helping' her, 'encouraging' her to leave her religion and marriage, then you will also have to accept ownership for the success or more likely, failure of it all. She will harbour resentment towards you.

LET HER OWN THIS! It is the biggest way that you can help her. If she wants to get out, let HER get out, and then come to you. Just let her know that you are there, and waiting, if and when she decides what she wants in life.

My mom finally did it!

i guess i wasn't surprised yesterday to find a letter size envelope from my mom in my mail box.

i didn't have to be psychic to figure out that it was the new tract.

she was also "nice" enough to include a watchtower from sept (i think 06) entitled "when a loved one leaves jehovah" and of course he underlined many points for me.

What is her alternative? You have to remember that her entire identity is entwined with this religion. She may 'know' but to leave every belief, hope, fear, friends, ritual, routine, goals etc is beyond the capability of many people and not necessarily the healthiest choice for everyone.

I remember my mom saying one time after I talked to her about alot of stuff, "And what am I suppose to do, just stop believing, just like that? What would I do? What would I have to live for?"

I hate it when they make me cry!!

i thought i was pretty much immune to any jws being able to tug at my heartstrings anymore.. mr scully and i were out shopping this morning, when someone called my name and then grabbed me and gave me a big hug.

i hadn't seen her in over 15 years.

back then, she was a teenager and i was about 10 years older than her... but we hit it off really well and mr scully and i became really good friends with her and her parents.

I deal with this by letting them decide. I push the accepted norm that we won't or can't be friends and invite them around for coffee. If I see an old friend that I really cared about, I tell them to give me a call if they ever want to talk, or do you want to come around for coffee?

If they don't call or come around, I know that they were NEVER my true friend anyways, nor what I would want in a friend now. My saddness is misplaced. I accept that I am mourning, not what was, but what I wish it was or thought it was. I dont want 'fair weather' friends.

I have had coffee with a few 'old' friends and the conversation is all gossip. Nothing deep or meaningful, and then I remember, it NEVER was deep and meaningful, it usually was gossipy, trivial and non-spiritual conversations that went on.

I have grown and matured, yet my old friends seem stunted and standing still in one place....waiting.

Dubs out with kn37

i just took the dog a walk, and saw 4 dubs at the top of our street, trying to place kn37.

this is, of course, the first official day of thecampaign, so i expext to see a few more of them than usual over the next few days, but it's not often i see them at this time of day (3:10pm when i spotted them).

they all know me, and when they saw me walking towards them with the dog, who does admittedly look a bit fearsome, being a pit bull/staffordshire bull terrier cross, they looked a little nervous, as if they thought i was going to set him on to them.

They stopped by my house this afternoon with one. Didn't know I lived here, I almost had to rip it out of their hand.

I stood outside and listened to their conversation starter, at every single house they said, "Hi, we are doing a community service and providing our message on this tract." Handed it to them and took off. They were zooming down the street.

Community service???? How about a food bank? Helping the homeless? Christmas gift boxes? Volunteering at a charity that really really helps people?

Ppl did not look impressed, I was thinking, "Community service, telling me that my church and all I love in it is FALSE and doomed to be destroyed by God and that JWs are the only true religion? Get stuffed." (not that I have a church, other ppl I mean)

I read the tract, recycled information, nothing new. Same ol' "every other religion is false, we are true, join us before it is too late."

Having Surgery - I'm scared!

i am having surgery next friday and i am scared to death!!!!

i am having a lump removed from both breasts and a biopsy done at the same time.

finding out the results of the biopsy is what is stressing me out the most.

You are in my thoughts....if it is cancer though, you want and need to know as early as possible. So this could be a good thing, yah? A close friend of mine had breast cancer, found it early, underwent treatment and is doing great now! Think of all these positive experiences with the war on cancer.

BIG Moral Crisis.....

(if anything i write below is horrible offensive to anyone, please do me a favor and just ignore this post and dont tell me what rotten person i am and im going to hell or some such thing)

over the last few years ive had to change a great many views that ive previously been very emphatic about.

there are a number of things that are currently running through my head, the short list looks like this.

There are some possibilities and I will list them in the order I think probable.

-A married woman, feeling too married and needing validation that she can still pull a fellow, that she is still young and beautiful. Therefore, she is thinking of herself, her vanity and you just happen to be the one available to caress her ego.

-Loves her husband, would never ever think of leaving him and will deny everything to the bitter end if found out, but enjoys some excitement in her life once in a while. Danger factor hard to resist.

-Seeking more attention from the one she really loves, her husband and using you to gain it. You are her "fantasy" husband, but not......and never will be.

-Finds you attractive, enjoys your attention and is unable to separate friendship from sexual attraction. Emotionally immature.

-Insecure and uses others to feel worthy.

-Is falling in love with you and not stopping herself despite having already made a commitment to someone else. If she is that unhappy in relationship with man A, get out of it, get over it, then go get man B. Scary pattern, but if that is what you want....your game.

regardless of how you feel about jehovah's organization--the true religion, one thing for sure, you will not escape the almighty jehovah's judgement right along with satan the devil and his destructive organization.

how will you save yourself and those who follow you...?

it's ashame that your energies could not be put to a more positive use.

I usually leave these kinds of threads alone, but one thing caught my eye that JW said,

saving lives! Are you doing that now? ....Are you offering others hope?....direction? unity? Peace? Security? a futrue?

JW's don't save lives. In our local KH, in the 12 years that I have gone there, I see NOT ONE new JW. The ones getting baptized are children of JW families. All those hours spent going house to house, and there is not 'one life saved'. What a waste. Better to spend it on saving your own loved ones, than strangers. JW have a misplaced loyalty...to strangers that do not welcome a knock on their door, when they should be looking at their own families and not shunning them.

Preaching is a way to keep JWs thinking that they, and only they, are special because they are fullfilling bible prophesy and no one else is.

On the street corner, I saw an old man holding up a mag that said, "Who will save the world's hungry?" I walked up to him and said, "Not Jehovah's Witnesses eh." I asked him what charities JWs give money to, or do they have one of their own, etc. He was stumped, he was about 70 years old and NEVER thought of 'saving lives' by any other means other than 'preaching.'

Don't judge ppl here by saying that we don't 'save lives'. I am more active in my community and my sense of social responsibility has increased a hundredfold now.

I 'save' more lives now, than I ever did, because I entirely am focused on THEM, not saving my own ass, by "oh well, if they don't listen, just brush the dust off your feet and go onto the next house" kind of attitude. You care more about your own salvation than those around you, that is not Christianity.

New to the forum - want to introduce myself

hi my name is lillian and i am posting for my first time.

i was a witness along with my husband and two children for 12 years and gave in my letter of disasociation about a year and a half ago.

i have struggled with the guilt of bringing my family in contact with the witnesses (i have always been a bible searcher) and i am only coming to terms with this recently.. i now consider myself a born again believer in christ jesus and read my bible daily to check and see what is true.
