hi ya'll.. i'm looking for advice on how to handle a neighborhood child that is bullying my son and other children in my apartment complex.
he is very mean, takes my son's stuff, tries to trip him on his bike by putting a stick into his spokes, pulling his underwear up, cussing at him.
at first i tried to talk to him nicely, asked him to please not do mean things to other children.
This kid is 6 years old! I think of my little 5 yr old nephew and he is still such a baby! I would NEVER tell him to go beat the crap outta someone. It would take an innocence away before it's time. Mom and Dad's job to protect at this age as far as I am concerned.

The news also said the classic line "She would view it as being sexually assulted or robbed if blood was forced on her" That Shawn Brady looks like a right little weasel. I would like to slap his smug little freaky face.
i've heard this said by a few ex-witnesses in my three years away from the organization, and have sometimes said it myself.
sometimes it is said in the context of, "i'd like to move on, but i just can't stop thinking about them.
could it not be that one of the reasons ex-jws "can't stop thinking about" the organization -- and their past involvement with it -- is that they daily log onto this site, read about the society and talk about them?
Yup, I agree. Someday, hopefully soon, I will say good-bye to people here. I stay now because I want to help the Newbies, those still having a hard time getting out, those confused, etc. If experienced ones leave, who will support the ones that need it? But you are right, I also can't help but feed myself by reading other info about JWs. I don't know, I am addicted to this site and it is not because I NEED it necessarily, it is because it empowers me to gain as much knowledge and strength as I can. If and when I am ready to leave, I'll know.
I I don't want to live like an ex-JW anymore.

I would step in and have many times. My daughter got punched when she was 13 by some stoned kid. I found the 16 year old kid, and told her that if she EVER laid a finger on my kid again, I would come after HER...and I would not give a shit about the repurcussions. (I eventually laid charges, she was convicted, she got 'community time', anger management and had to write a letter of apology and conditions to stay away from my kid) Now this was a 13 year old. For me, I would approach the little turd and tell him in that his behaviour is UNACCEPTABLE, that you will not tolerate it and if he touches/bugs your kid again, you are coming after him. Just make sure that no one overhears you and it is your word against his if he squeeks. Even if he does, it is worth it for you kid's sake. Make it simple, pointed and nasty and mean what you say. It was on the Vancouver news this morning. They told what was going on and then the stupid dub lawyer was interviewed. He said that this is about the right to decide what to do with you body. He said it could very well be a moral issue or something other than religious. That she has a right to decide. She is trying to change her status as an 'adult'. I wonder if we can find out when exactly this is happening and where and to whom we can email or go give our support. Sickening.
Here is global tv's email so that they can get as much input into this as possible. WHY did they just interview the stupid lawyer and not others opposed????
there are so many 'used to be jw's' now i am just wondering what is causing the revolution in the organisation.
is it due to the failed prophecies, flip flopped doctrines, changing new light or is the borg squeezing the rank and file hard enough for them to realise the truth ain't the truth?
any thoughts on this?
Our society is one of "find yourself" "your authentic you" etc etc. No more are people afraid to look behind the curtain, in fact-it is encouraged in our society, try many things, and then decide what to do with your life. Schools no longer teach by rote, they instill "critical learning". Seen the new Math books out there? My grade 5 child's has none of the ol #1-30 on each page with an example at the top of the page. They are all about "understanding" "using" "expanding on". The process behind the Math is "explored". The teacher training programs focus on "hands on learning" "active learning" "explorative learning" "cooperative learning"....etc. No more are children raised as little funnels to be filled.
Try telling your teen, "Do it because I said so". It won't work. They want reasons and answers.
Gone is the Industrial revolution, we are not in an Information age.
Yup, this is not the world for the JWs to succeed in, hence the pulling in of their walls around them. It will become essential to their survivial to keep the "evil" world out of reach of their members.....but it won't work. Jez

I know the local newspaper in that area, and have phoned them. They have been alerted to this situation, told about the WTBS 'lawyers', JW stance on blood, pedophiles, (how they treat minors), never once referred to them as a religion, only "cult", invited them to check out silentlambs and this site, plus shared alot more info. I pray they investigate. This is the same newspaper that a few months back reported on the local assembly and a young boy (age 5) attending. They put a real positive spin on his attendance there and what he was learning. I enlightened them about what he was really learning and that he was prob spanked into submission. Asked them if they have a sense of moral duty to report the other side of the borg and expose how they really treat minors.
