when I first got out at the age of 19, thats all that came out of my mouth. I also took to drinking heavily and abusing myself. Its part of the reaction to the reproof. When I got reproved publically I was way pissed, but df'd was worse. She is acting out, and is rebelling against every thing she has been taught, including decent communication. Hopefully she will either grow out of it or someone needs to talk to her about language usage.....once in a while is ok, but all the time and noone listens to a d#$n thing you say.

Potty Mouths?
by Low-Key Lysmith inwhen i got out of the dumbs, i use to cuss non-stop i think as a pathetic tactic to make worldy people think i was a little more worldy.
i still swear from time to time, and foul language does not offend me at all, but i was talking to my sister the other day, she just turned 21, has discovered alcohol, is currently on public reproof, and i think is really close to being on her way out herself.
she cursed like a sailor the whole time i was talking to her.

Janet: Thanks for the insight hon, you always make me feel better! It did feel better, like a little weight had been lifted, because I put the ball in her court, in a non threatening way. Also reminded me of one of the last steps , where you have to ask for forgiveness and forgive yourself, along with others. I was in my hometown a few weeks ago and wanted to see her, but I didnt know where she was living, and I couldn't get the gumption up to call her name listed in the yellow pages. I really want to make sure she is doing ok, my friend that od'd a couple of years ago, we were all friends, and I want to check on her, make sure that she knows someone cares about her.
tj- I know how you feel, I have been there too, when wounds were still fresh. It is difficult to get through, but you are doing a great job! Give it time, it will get better.

No thanks to DOC, I am a myspace junkie now, and have found a few of my hometown friends in the mix of things.
So I do the search for friends, and start typing in different names.
Long story short, I found my old friend from KH days, we got dfd around the same time and had a falling out about a year afterward. We havent spoke since, and didn't leave things in good terms as friends. I regret that we were so immature and couldn't work out our differences, because she was a great friend. But at the end of our last conversation, she stated that she no longer thought of me as her friend (because I left our hometown quite abruptly), and we would be better off going our seperate ways.
Its been 7 years since we spoke, and many days have gone by since that conversation. My father died, she didn't go to the memorial (which I was upset but not shocked by any way, because it was at the KH)
I recently sent a message to her profile, but she hasnt been on the site since January of this year, so I don't know if she will ever see the message. The gist of the message was this: I know we had some issues, you were a very close friend, I wonder how she's doing every day and I miss her. It was short, sweet, and what I have needed to say to her for the past 7 years.
I also checked out her little brother, he is currently going to the local university, and is living at the dorms. I sent him a message also that I missed him, his bro and sis, and wish him well on his university journey. So I feel like he is on his way out of the borg, but don't know how far yet.
His profile stated that he was on that day, earlier, so I know he got the message.
I havent recieved any response from either, and yes I am disappointed, but not shocked. Their dad stepped down from being an elder when his daughter got dfd, but his attitude hasn't changed. At my dads memorial I tried to say something to him, but all I got in return was a "You know I cant talk to you"
I have a strange feeling that this will bite me in the ass before it is over with, his dad still attends my moms hall.
Anyone ever had any success with finding someone and actually being receptive? I need some positive feedback today -

A Common Dub Type?: The henpecked ubm who joins because of his nagging wife
by Check_Your_Premises ini have been around enough to recognize certain patterns in dub membership.
for instance there is a very common situation, where a dub gets df, marries a worldy promising never to return, has a kid, gets reinstated, and then we have to console some poor sob who shows up here trying to figure out what the hell just happened to his/her life.
i think i have isolated another common dub type; the weenie husband, whose wife joins, and then he joins too because his wife wears the pants and he does what he is told.

my father was sorta like that...as far as being hen-pecked. He was baptized, but didn't really make any efforts, eg he got to handle mikes and be called an attendant, but no other "priveledges". I think he liked it that way.
He never had the chance to get out, because his wife is a diehard. Its a shame, really. He was a caring man, and was well liked by everyone, but he didn't want to be involved with the "groups". He passed and a memorial was held at the kh, but you know, the usual speech and crap was spouted off as a dub funeral goes, outline only.
I think it made my mom happy for him to be in, and he loved her so much he would do anything to make her happy. My mom continues to "wear the pants", even after his passing, and has passed the buck to my little brother, who is the spittin' image of my dad.

Any Lefties?
by Why Georgia inmy oldest son is left handed.
everytime he does anything different from the rest of us.....my husband relates this to being left handed.. he is very artistic, detailed, and extremely particular about how he wants things in his little world to be.. this may be because he's 5 - who knows.. are there any traits of left handed people that you lefties may want to share so i can be prepared in the future?.
thanks in advance,.

Lefty here, I have always had problems with right handed ness, mother tried to force me to write right handed, and it didnt work to any proportions!
A left handed teacher finally taught me how in the fifth grade to write straight on a line. The trick is slanting the paper to conform to the writing angle.. Ive always found left-handed people to be more emotional, artistic, and opened minded. Oh yeah, also great in bed!!

What words and phrases do Brits and others see as 'American'?
by sonnyboy inas an american, i see words such as cheerio, blimey, bloody (when referring to something negative), loo, bugger, fag (cigarette), etc.
as chiefly british (i suppose they are).. what words and/or phrases do you consider to be chiefly american?
i'm honestly unaware of which words i use that may not be used in other english-speaking countries.

i wonder what causes them to be so prudish...ya think its all that lake water? I love to hear people singing. I really don't care if they are in tune or not. I sing all the time, sometimes to myself, but always in the car and at home. You have to really enjoy your music to sing, and yes I guess its part of that spirited south becuase people still look at me weird here.
But I don't rightly much care. :P
