Whats the Biggest JW contradiction?
by sleepy inwhat do you think the biggest contradiction was in jw teaching or logic?
i remember people confronted us with the argument that maybe over thousands of years the bible has changed, we would probably say any changes were minor, and we have the dead sea scrolls etc that don't vary much from the bible today.
yet when asked by people with a little knowledge about the bible why the name jehovah was not in any manuscripts of the new testament, we would effectivly says its because they have been changed over time.

I think that the biggest contradiction is that a god of love will destroy billions of people for displeasing him. Maybe it's just me, but how loving does that seem to you?

DNA
by teejay inthis past sunday on 60 minutes, there was a segment about the police investigation of a brutal rape and murder of a student at the university of oklahoma in 1996. the only evidence the police had was semen.
so, to catch the killer, police asked every innocent person that even remotely knew the victim to give them samples of their dna, imposing what are called dna dragnets.
many of the victim?s associates, mainly students, volunteered.

I wouldn't volunteer a DNA sample, either, and I'm a woman. It seems to me that you'd have to trust that the police are being honest AND that they're competant AND that they're correct about what's really going to happen with the data that's being collected AND that your sample will be handled correctly AND that your sample will be catalogued correctly. That's too many ANDs for me.

"What the [fill in the word appropriate for the person speaking] is going on here?" and then the second thing, once they look around and see all of the so-called worldly people right along side them would be "What a gyp!"

No, thank you! Like Wednesday, I'm over in Best Of all the time. As a newcomer to the board, it's great having that wealth of information in one easy-to-find place. My thanks also go out to all the folks who posted those threads originally.

Yes, my grandfather claims to be one of the anointed. He's such a monumental ass, that I find it hard to believe that throughout the last 2000 years, 144,000 worthier people couldn't have been found. My mom's take on it is that maybe having a few a**holes in heaven is part of the divine plan. Go figure.

Problem recieving Watchtower & Awake "again"
by Dolllie ini posted earlier in the summer about some "racist" witnesses who told me that i could not recieve the watchtower & awake magazines, or attend the kingdom hall, because i was black & blacks were not able to understand the bible, "it was not for them".. i wrote a letter to the watchtower society & got a response!.
i moved out of that immediate area, a couple of towns(about 40 minutes away).
i contacted the watchtower society after moving here to have someone bring me the watchtower & awake.

As far as racism in Connecticut goes, I can believe that Waterbury would be among the worst places. Nevertheless, I grew up as a JW in Connecticut and your experience surprised me. In my experience, JWs are happy whenever they don't get the door slammed in their face in field service. If they found someone who wanted their
crapliterature, I'd expect them to be rejoicing all the live-long day.
