It was BBc Radio Shropshire, I sincerely hope noone can listen to it and no website will ever carry a transcript of what I said hehe I was really naff!
I'm LDS and he asked whether we were doing anything special to mark the formation of the church 175 years ago today. I was a little at sea because I only realised that it was the anniversary last night when I was told I'd drawn the short straw to do the impromptu radio show. What was even more telling was that they bumped the twenty minute interview to an earlier time (lucky I got there early - unlucky that my co-interviewee didn't - shame 'cos he had the church key) and then cut it to five minutes because some MP had defected in the local area and they decided that was more important hehehe.
Well they asked about tithing , genealogy, how people join the church etc.. I was expecting polygamy, Mountain Meadows Massacre, Blacks and the Priesthood, Kolob and God once a man. Guess I got lucky.
Normally I can blather on for ages about religion, philosohpy and Sunderland football club but today my tongue was stuck to my throat and I was quivering with fear. Ah well I expect loads of baptisms following that episode hehe.

Brits. Will you vote in next month's General Election?
by nicolaou inas everyone had guessed, the election has been set for may 5th.
personally, this is my first opportunity 'post wt mind-control' to vote for our next government.
i don't suppose that i will - 40 years of 'neutrality' and non-involvement have rather flattened my desire to take part in political change.. how about you?

Does "J" deal with imperfection?
by upside/down inas a dub i was always taught that the reason j couldn't deal with us directly was because he was so holy and we were so not holy, that he couldn't even deal with us directly.
so we are in quarantine, through no fault of our own from our "father" in heaven.
then how come satan got to enter in before j himself and question and debate before all the angels.

If God has any part in our lives I guess He must deal with it all the time. Jesus saught out the sick and the afflicted and saught to heal them. Were all going home one day and we wont be perfect then so either God only talks to Jesus and non-humans or he totally deals with imperfection - when we pray we pray in the name of Jesus but we pray to God so surely he is responsible for answering.

Bible Reading Leading to More Doubt Than Faith... :(
by jeanniebeanz inok, it?s taken me longer to get my thoughts together on this than i expected, but here is the reason that i have come to have doubts in the divine nature of the bible; its failure to show that the god it describes is abiding by "his" own standards.. for example, according to 2 peter 1:20, the entire bible is inspired of god.
the main attributes of "god" are that "he" is love (1 john 4:8), "he" is just (deuteronomy 32:4), and "he" has all of the power (revelation 7:12).. with that in mind, my first problem with the bibles authenticity is that this ?loving god?
murdered the entire world of men at one point in history by drowning them.

I can understand why you feel the way you do I have some things from my viewpoint that may or may not help: 1/ We are children of God and he wants us to be like him. (Be ye perfect) 2/ This earth was made for us to have experiences we couldn't have anywhere else - ie mortality and complete free will (free will limited in Heaven - rebel and end up cast out ie little margin for learning from mistakes) 3/ For this plan to work death (spiritual - seperation from God and physical - death of a perfect body) must be introduced into the world - (God cannot do it himself because the choice must be made to leave God and choose complete free will.) 4/ One man introduces death into the world so one man, Jesus, can make an atonement. 5/ To make the plan work God must not step in every time otherwise free will just went out the window. 6/ Everyone who comes to earth chooses to come here and accept the challenges and trials - anyone who doesn't want it can leave before they arrive and not bother with the body and death and destruction thing. 7/ We must be tempted in order to allow us to make choices. 8/ Bad decisions hurt people and often kill people ( so crusades where never sanctioned by God or the Bible.) 9/ Bad decisions must be allowed even if they hurt the innocent so that justice can be answered. Those who suffer are recompensed (how I don't know) in the next life. Those who do the hurting must pay the price and in most cases can recieve forgiveness from God via atonement. 10/ The Flood destroyed the wicked which means that children were not being born into wickedness (ie an unfair chance for the little ones) - we have no real idea of what they were doing pre flood. 11/ Destructions in the bible are rarely done without warning (like the Egyptians) - it is possible (absolute speculation) that prophets warned the peoples of the land of Palestine / Israel to leave ,join the Israelites etc.. the destruction of those peoples is not our story we don't know all the details and why it might have been a merciful thing for them (I can't defend what I don't have facts on!) 12/ Jesus went through everything and descended below all men , suffered for the sins of the world so that we wouldn't have to pay the spiritual price for our sins (so painful that he bled at every pore) 13 In the eternities we will look back on this life as a learning experience of unimaginable depth and we will guard those memories and experiences as we paid the price for them they define us and give us our comparision between good and evil. Just as the Garden of Eden couldn't teach us much as there was no comparison so living in Paradise will be just that since we know the alternative.

I do disagree with the believe and be saved hypothesis for the 'devils believe' and it makes a mockery of ever living the christian life (ie just believe but no need to do any more.) I think there is a wealth of sciptural evidence that there are things we must do to accept the full ramifications of the atonement:
1/ Faith in Jesus (the believe bit)
2/ Baptism by immersion (faith without works is dead being alone)
3/ Gift of the Holy Ghost (baptism of fire)
4/ Obey the commandments (by their fruits you will know them)
5/ Take the sacrament (take upon oneself the name of Christ)
6/ Pray regularly
7/ Overcome the natural man(control our thoughts and actions)
I was reading yesterday that our works follow us after death so they must be important.
So God teh Father deasl with us through the Mediator in almost all circumstances. Exceptions to the rule in LDS land:
1/ Adam and Eve transgressed and still had the final interview / casting out in the presence of God the Father
2/ Voice of God announces Jesus at His baptism
3/ First Vision to again announce Jesus (LDS so not biblical) -

I'm going to go off beam and out into non LDS territory .
When I was a missionary I was discussing Satan with another missionary and he said that maybe part of the whole plan (life, fall, death, atonement etc..) was to redeem Satan and the lost host of heaven as well as us - after all we are all children of God (in LDS world) and we have an interesting concept that whatever sins you don't repent of you must pay for anyway in a Gethsemane type experience (ie Jesus did it so we don't have to but the price still has to be paid if we don't accept Jesus.) There is also the teaching that Eternal punishment and Endless punishment actually refer to God's name so it could be read God's punishment - basically it lasts until the price is paid and then it ends - a bit like King David's experience. So there is potentially more going on in the whole scheme of things than a surface reading permits.
...returns to the LDS safe house and removes his hat of speculation. -

Well I don't think Satan can command personal audiences with God anymore so for me that can't be true and I believe Satan and a 1/3 of heaven were cast out before Adam fell , thus Satan is stuck here and was able to tempt Adam and Eve. I don't buy the 1914 stuff but nor am I overly convinced that Job is an actual historical story (though the LDS church leans strongly towards it being a historical event - though not Satan talkig to God)
