Not at all - I would always recommend that you marry someone who believes similar things to you - marriage is not a good place to debate religion. When two people are united they are very powerful but if you have something so fundamental different then in all liklehood you will pull in different directions and that is just a world of hurt. Relationships are the most precious things in the world and its just criminal to let religion jeopardise that.

Religion and Relationships?
by DocHayes inhow much does religion factor with who you decide to have a relationship with?
of course as a jw you weren't supposed to marry or even date someone who wasn't a dub.
but now that you're out how much does that matter?

Awkward car situations.
by greendawn indid you ever have a serious problem while driving an awkward breakdown fire, or accident?
my worst was when i got an overheating problem on a night in the middle of nowhere.
it was the water pump, but by driving 20 miles at a time stopping to cool down and then restarting i got home.

I just passed my test , gramps lent me the car, I was driving uphill to a stop light and the gear stick came off in my hand , the engine died and I sat there with a big brown streak in my pants. Not pleasant. I buy Toyota now.

Should Intelligent Design be taught in schools?
by AlmostAtheist inkansas is holding a debate to decide.
http://www.cnn.com/2005/education/05/02/life.evolution.reut/index.html.
topeka, kansas (reuters) -- evolution is going on trial in kansas.. eighty years after a famed courtroom battle in tennessee pitted religious beliefs about the origins of life against the theories of british scientist charles darwin, kansas is holding its own hearings on what school children should be taught about how life on earth began.. the kansas board of education has scheduled six days of courtroom-style hearings to begin thursday in topeka.

I was taught in school to look at every arguement from as many angles as possible except when I got to critical studies in english when all we looked at was marxist and feminist critical approaches (shudders)
Of course we should teach this as one of the competing ideas - surely anti - religionsist can see that when religion ruled it stuffed things up by excluding all competing theories - now if evolutionists rule they mustn't be allowed to make the same mistake - if evolution is as all answering and all self evident a 'truth' then it should be happy to be taught against such inferior ideas for then it will look so much smarter - however take peoples ideas, beliefs and hide them away and they'll just get stronger. Debate and discussion , comparison and opposition are bedrocks of educational growth.
As a side note - if I was in charge of school curriculum I would let them teach evolution / creationism / intell design, young earth / old earth arguements etc.. kids would love that sort of debate and discussion. -

At the end of the day any business organisation will cut its cloth according to its income - if the WTS really suffered money problems it would just cut down on the number of magazines published...hey hang on!
At the end of the day how much does it cost the wts to run its organisation?
Lay clergy - no cost
Buildings - big income
Publications - 20 million a month - cost 5p each £1million a month - £12 million a year (I'm just making up figures)
Wills - big income from west esp. with lots dying?
Donations - probably enough to cover light and heating?
Property sales - enough to cover new purchases?
Charity - low.
Lawsuit payments - low.
Taxation - zip.
Advertising - zip.
Design and Research - zip.
Building costs - labour free.
labour materials - non wt cost.
..of course I know nowt about wt finances but it seems it shouldnt be too expensive - enlighten me please. -

Do JWs have any deep doctrine..
by Qcmbr inin the lds church we have our 'deep doctrine' that is not preached from the stand and is often little more than pure speculation on what one prophet is supposed to have said etc.. here's a brief list of some of the things we might discuss outside of church... .
was jesus married?
where is the hill cumorah (place in the book of mormon)?

Hi SW - the hill Cumorah may potentially refer to two hills - one in New York and the other ...still not really of much interest to you guys:)

Where is the hill Cumorah (place in the Book of Mormon)?
Who are the 144000?
Where are the lost tribes of Israel?
Where is the city of Enoch?
What will be the events that will usher in the millenium?
Where does your spirit go when you sleep?
What is the urim and thummim?
How many people where in the ark / Jaredite barges / Nephi's boat?
Who was already on the american continent when the nephites arrived?
and so on...
Do the JWs have similar favourite areas of discussion that more often than not goes well off the beaten track? -

I wish I wasn't at work and could answer in real time.
Abbadon - you are no smarter than me ..face it..and I'm no smarter than anyone else. In your mind maybe you think you are and the evidence I site is how you continually suggest I'm saying one thing and then attacking your view of what you think I said - let me show you one example and then I'm done with whinging:
ME: 2/ We can never go back in time to say with any finality what actually happened so even with evidence we are still making a judgment based upon current evidence.
YOU: You seem to be setting up, by your argument, a situation where you can believe what the hell you like but never have to back it up on account that when challanged about anything you'll just make-out that nothing is certain.
I was making the fairly obvious statement that we are all working from evidences -not from first hand knowledge - I was making no reference for allowing myself to go on any flight of fancy I like - just that we are all constantly evaluating and making our best GUESS at what we think happened from what we can see. You are unable to prove squat to me and I likewise can prove nothing to you. I spent enough time in philosophy class in 'hole in my bucket arguements' to fall for that idea.
My general point about things like evolution is that its not a done deal and I find those who accept it with religious fervour and preach it at every chance is as much a bum clencher for me as pulpit bashers with their favourite bible topic. I haven't made up my mind about evolution - my jury is still out (Brucie Mckonckie did not write scripture - he wrote his opinion at the time) - but I still find that my belief in the creation is unshaken - I still find enough holes in evolution to let it through.
