  So How Was Armagheddon supposed to occur anyways ?????

  or were buildings going to collapse and all of the people in the buildings and on the ground below be destroyed ?.

  3. or were angels suddendly going to materalize with big broad swords (right out of king arthur's army) and smite us......those of us who didn't have the mark.

  Do JWs believe they will be attacked at the end or just physical Israel? Is their any concept of having to fight in any way shape or form to defend spiritual Israel?

  Weight, Health, & Exercise

  having been a yo-yo dieter for decades and being 20-30 pounds overweight now, i have reached some conclusions that follow.

  what do you think (it goes without saying i want opinions or else why start a thread?)?.

  1. recent press statements indicate overweight isn't nearly as harmful to health/longevity as previously thought.. 2. the more i diet, the fatter i get.. 3. having done considerable geneaology, all but one of my ancestresses i've seen photos of (four g-g-mothers) for the past 100 years were considerably overweight (indicating possible genetic predispostion).. 4. not interested in finding a "mate.".

  I used to be a slim 9 stone 8 - I am now 12 stone 4 and I'm not any taller. I think changing my diet and lifestyle is possible but I don't know whether I have the willpower to leave JWD and do some exercise...

  Witnesses and alcoholism

  my jw husband has made me promise to let him die rather than approve a blood transfusion because of bible doctrine; however, the same bible speaks against alcoholism and drunkeness and yet he continues to drink and sometimes gets absolutely smashed.. last night we were at a non-jw staff party for my place of employment, and he lost any shred of dignity through his heavy drinking.

  we got home at 3 a.m. and he jumped out of bed at 8:20 and said, "i have to get to book study; i'm reading today.

  (it behooves me how he can do this time and again without even taking so much as an asparin!).

  I think its interesting that in any repressive system the adherants overcompensate on any permissable vices.
  
  This is part of the concept of the carnival - the expression of madness and social release and then another year of buckling down to the rules.

  Whats the spookiest thing that has happened to you?

  i have had a few experiences which some could be dealt with rationally although even to this day the coincidences seem too convenient; .

  mine was on new years day in 1994; i didnt celebrate new years at the same although i was about to start my fade that year; i was ill on new years eve anyway and i had been sleeping when i awoke at precisely 12.13. i couldnt get back to sleep but there was no obvious reason why.. my grandmother was in hospital but she was getting better when i had last spoken to her; i managed to back off to sleep but woke that following morning for some reason really concerned about my gran; just as i was coming downstairs the phone rang and my girlfriend answered it.

  i said to her before she got to the phone that it would be my mother with bad news about my gran; i was right on both counts; it was my mum and my gran had died.....at 12.13 precisely..

  I remember one night talking with some friends till late about ghost etc.. as my mate and I cycled home the street lights started to go out as we cycled past them. At first we were laughing about it but when the fifth one went out we got a bit freaked and headed for home as fast as our little legs could go. :)

  in my ongoing trawl of geological info i cam across an interesting theory regarding the expansion of the earth causing the split of pangea as opposed to plate tectonics.. http://www.expanding-earth.org/ .

  The idea is that gravity is increasing (hence no huge land animals now) as the size of the earth increases (dust falling from space and increasing mass due to conversion of sunlight into matter.)
  
  In the time of the dino's it was supposed to be 60% smaller and the gravity much less so animals could be much bigger.
  
  Argues against large scale subduction at plate margins - only spreading.
