i'm pretty excited about the re-release of e.t.

the extraterrestrial, because i distinctly remember not being allowed to see it when i was a child.

For its 20th Anniversary, Universal Pictures re-releases Steven Spielberg’s 1982 film classic in a new, improved format, including a digitally re-mixed sound track. But the story is the same and will tug on a new generation’s heartstrings just as it did when first released. Henry Thomas plays Elliott, a 10-year-old boy who lives in California with his single mother (Dee Wallace-Stone), his older brother (Robert MacNaughton) and younger sister (Drew Barrymore). When an alien spaceship accidentally leaves one of its crew near Elliot’s house, Elliot discovers the small, lovable alien and they become close friends. But government and scientific officials are looking for the alien called E.T., for extra-terrestrial, so Elliot keeps him hidden. However, Elliot must eventually let his siblings and a few friends know about E.T. Most of all, E.T. wants to return to his home planet, so Elliot helps him build a communications device to “phone home.” How E.T. adapts to his new surroundings and his attempts to return home make for a very lively, humorous and heartwarming adventure. The theme of the film is about communication and relating to those who are different from ourselves, as Elliot and his siblings come to love and respect E.T. Interestingly, E.T. has unusual capabilities, such as levitating objects, miraculously healing wounds, and even the ability to make others fly. But these are not necessarily supernatural and could be considered the technical capabilities of an advanced technological society. Unfortunately, in an angry moment, Elliot uses an anatomical term in an offensive insult meant to be obscene, but his mother thinks it is amusing. Elliot’s older brother also uses an obscenity and a few mild and moderate crudities. If not for the foul language, Preview could give an unqualified recommendation to this endearing film.

i just got the dvd and watched half of it.

Well let me clear this big misconception that most of you probably know but the creatures at the end ARE NOT ALIENS!!!!!!!!! Ok? They are robots that have evolved far in the future.

secondly, realize the dark message in the film. Is this boys love real? How can it be real when it is turned on like a switch. Is love really like that? If the programmers had enabled an off switch, would you still consider it real love? What the boy felt was obsession. A dark evil kind. He was willing to kill. He killed another of his models. Didnt you see that? What do you think Kubrik was saying there?

Also another bit of symbolism in the film was the blue fairy, it symbolizes god and humanities futility in praying to a fairy tale, something that does not exsist.

in general: I liked it at first, once i analyzed the films message i hated what it was trying to tell me, or rather preach to me.

as some of you already know, i'm a huge metallica fan, i'm not too crazy about the new stuff, but i like the older stuff up unitl about 91. many of metallica songs have a dark side to them; death, war,destruction, misplaced justice, etc.

Being a single Ex JDub

there are questions boyfriends ask about my family, why i dont have contact with them, and what did i do to gain their utter disfavor?

Where is my internal strength to stand up for what I believe is right and tell the family and former friends to kiss off? I cant do that.

It depends I think. If i were dating someone and they were too scared and wussy to stand up for themselves and allow themselves to be controlled by their family i wouldnt want to be with them.

If you stand up for yourself and your family wont speak to you because of that, then that should be admired. Youd need a bf who can understand where you came from.

I have all of those video game systems on my computer as emulators, anytime i feel like playing an old game i download it and play it. Thank goodness for emulators and roms.

The ones I really miss though are the Sierra 'Quest' games, like all the kings quest, police quest, heros quest and space quest.

I would never prevent my 15 year old from downloading porn. It'd be like refusing them food! Teens as young as 13 and 14 are very much into sexual things and teaching them that sex is evil or disgusting in some way by forbidding porn dosent send a good message in my opinion.

As for the child porn on morpheus, many files are labeled things like '12 year old does her father' and the picture is of a mature naked 24-26 year old. Check the actual pictures to see if they really are as disgusting as you think.
