Uh Oh! Now I've gone and done it. Warning: LONG
by betweenworlds inhere i was in happy-no one is really bothering me too much-lala land, until yesterday when i had to go and open my mouth.
a pioneer sister from our hall emailed me to inquire what was preventing me from attending the meetings, and asked what was holding me back from going.
(this is about the 5th or 6th email asking this question) welllllll, i guess i just reached a point where i couldn't pretend anymore.

A Question thats troubling me........
by aud8 in"this good news will be preached for a witness to all the inhabited nations and then the end will come" nobody else is preaching any good news as far as i can see?
what do you think?

Redhorsewoman neighed:
There's also a new cult on the block, the International Church of Christ, which is very aggressive in "preaching the good news" and studying the Bible with potential converts. Of course, they have only been in existence for about 20 years, so they don't have huge numbers of salespeople out there yet.
Yeah I studied with them briefly in college. They recruit mainly on campuses, and yes they are a very scary cult. They are exactly like the JW's. Thye require members whom they also call brothers and sisters to talk to, if i remember correctly, 50 people a week at least.
They have home book studies once a week like the JW's, and then other weekly meetings. They have conventions just like the JW's. And practise love bombing and other tactics including the famous 'we are the only true religion' and 'your relatives will oppose you' etc etc.
THey also discourage assosiation with non brothers and sisters. It was fun studying with them for a while just to see what they are about. I wasnt for a minute pulled in. As soon as they started pressuring me I was like, see yah! One thing they also practise is requring members to drive like 2 hours away to pick up studies to bring them to meetings. Makes it hard to say no when they ar elike hey, we will drive you up there no sweat!
-Dan
Oh yeah, the best argument I think, that JW's are not a healthy valid christian religion is the fact they do ZERO charity work. With the ammount of money the society has they could easily set up homesless shelters and the like. But they never do.

Video-Game Character Wondering Why Heartless God Always Chooses 'Continue'
ORANGEBURG, SC--Solid Snake, tactical-espionage expert and star of PlayStation's "Metal Gear Solid," questioned the nature of the universe Monday when, moments after his 11th death in two hours, a cruel God forced him to "Continue" his earthly toil and suffering.
"Is this all there is?" asked Snake, hiding in a storage locker while two masked guards searched for him in the hold of a cargo ship. "Is this why I was created? To suffer? Will I ever escape this endless loop of grueling labor followed by violent death?"
Snake was then discovered by the guards and cut down in a hail of gunfire.
Snake, who has been fatally shot 2,143 times in the past six months, said he does not know why God deems it necessary for him to endlessly repeat his mission, which involves sneaking aboard a hijacked military ship and discovering who stole the walking nuclear-equipped battle tank known as Metal Gear Ray.
"Why will the Lord not grant me my final rest?" asked a reincarnated Snake, crawling underneath a lifeboat on the ship's weather deck. "Certainly there must be a greater purpose for me than to kill dozens and eventually be killed myself."
Added Snake: "As Goethe said, 'Man must strive, and in striving he must err.'"
Pitching himself over the ship's railing to avoid a trio of patrol guards, Snake pondered the notion of self-determination, wondering aloud whether he had any control over his own destiny. Before he could draw any conclusions, however, he lost his grip, falling into the sea and drowning.
"The Koran asks, 'Shall not the Lord of all the Earth do right?'" said Snake, rematerializing under the lifeboat. "But scholars have often argued whether the question is an assertion of belief or a refutation of faith in absolute goodness on the part of the Creator. As for myself, all I know is, I'm tired of the constant pain, death, and destruction."
Snake was then shot in the head by an undetected guard, falling into a pool of his own blood before reappearing in the ship's afterdeck, where his mission began.
"I often wonder, as many video-game characters do, whether God forces me to Continue to punish me for my sins," Snake said. "After all, I've deserted the American military, killed hundreds of guards, and betrayed my would-be lover, Meryl Silverburgh, by submitting to torture in the alternate ending to the first installment of 'Metal Gear Solid.' But sometimes, like when I suicidally attack dozens of armed guards with only my bare hands, it seems that God is putting me through hell merely to amuse Himself. It just doesn't make sense."
According to Rev. Paul Flessing of Yale University's Divinity School, Snake's theosophical quandary is far from uncommon.
"We all wrestle with the Big Questions about the will of God and one's place in Creation," Flessing said. "But the important thing is to have faith and try to find meaning in one's life--or lives, as the case may be. We must remember the trials of Job, whose faith God continually tested. It seems Snake is going through something very much like that, with this constant pattern of 'Continues.' The purpose will become clear to him in the end."
Sidling along a companionway toward the ship's lounge, Snake considered his ultimate fate.
"What awaits me at the end of my lives' journeys?" Snake asked. "Is there a Paradise on the other side? Or will it all end in a full-motion video sequence that hints at a forthcoming sequel?"
The hallway then filled with nerve gas, fatally asphyxiating Snake.
God, also known as Orangeburg 11-year-old Brandon MacElwee, offered no comment on His greater plan for Snake, saying He was "too busy trying to get to the part with the knife-throwing Russian girl."

Bush Finds Error in Fermilab Calculations
BATAVIA, IL--President Bush met with members of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory research team Monday to discuss a mathematical error he recently discovered in the famed laboratory's "Improved Determination Of Tau Lepton Paths From Inclusive Semileptonic B-Meson Decays" report.
"I'm somewhat out of my depth here," said Bush, a longtime Fermilab follower who describes himself as "something of an armchair physicist." "But it seems to me that, when reducing the perturbative uncertainty in the determination of Vub from semileptonic Beta decays, one must calculate the rate of Beta events with a standard dilepton invariant mass at a subleading order in the hybrid expansion. The Fermilab folks' error, as I see it, was omitting that easily overlooked mathematical transformation and, therefore, acquiring incorrectly re-summed logarithmic corrections for the b-quark mass. Obviously, such a miscalculation will result in a precision of less than 25 percent in predicting the resulting path of the tau lepton once the value for any given decaying tau neutrino is determined."
The Bush correction makes it possible for scientists to further study the tau lepton, a subatomic particle formed by the collision of a tau neutrino and an atomic nucleus.
Bush resisted criticizing the Fermilab scientists responsible for the error, saying it was "actually quite small" and that "anyone could have made the mistake."
"High-energy physics is a complex and demanding field, and even top scientists drop a decimal point or two every now and then," Bush said. "Also, I might hasten to add that what I pointed out was more a correction of method than of mathematics. Experimental results on the Tevatron accelerator would have exposed the error in time, anyway."
Fermilab director Michael Witherell said the president was being too modest "by an order of magnitude."
"In addition to gently reminding us that even the best minds in the country are occasionally fallible, President Bush has saved his nation a few million dollars," Witherell said. "We would have made four or five runs on the particle accelerator with faulty data before figuring out what was wrong. But, thanks to Mr. Bush, we're back on track."
"It's true, I dabbled in the higher maths during my Yale days," said Bush, who spent three semesters as an assistant to Drs. Kahsa and Slaughter at Yale's renowned Sloane High-Energy Physics Lab. "But I didn't have the true gift for what Gauss called 'the musical language in which is spoken the very universe.' If I have any gift at all, it's my instinct for process and order."
Continued Bush: "As much as I enjoyed studying physics at Yale, by my junior year it became apparent that I could far better serve humanity through a career in statecraft."
While he says he is "flattered and honored" by the tau-neutrino research team's request that he review all subsequent Fermilab publications on lepton-path determination, Bush graciously declined the "signal honor."
"This sort of thing is best left to the likes of [Thomas] Becher and [Matthias] Neubert, not a dilettante such as myself," Bush said. "I just happened to have some time on the plane coming back from the European G8 summit, decided to catch up on some reading, and spotted one rather small logarithmic branching-ratio misstep in an otherwise flawless piece of scientific scholarship. Anyone could have done the same."

wassup? Yo I be Lyndon Baines JohnsonHis vice president was HUBERT H. HUMPHREY
Yeah me and the prez ran the country back in da day yo. We was chillin like villainsHUBERT H. HUMPHREY
BiographyHubert Horatio Humphrey, (1911-1978), hum'fre, 38th VICE PRESIDENT of the United States. He was elected with President Lyndon B. JOHNSON on the Democratic ticket in 1964, and he was his party's unsuccessful presidential candidate in 1968.
A leading champion of civil rights and other liberal causes, Humphrey made his national reputation as a U.S. senator, serving from 1949 to 1964 and from 1971 until his death. Despite his sometimes controversial stands, especially his support of the Johnson administration's Vietnam policy, and a hearty personality that bothered some with its exuberance, Humphrey became in his later years one of the most respected and beloved figures in American political life.
An indication of that respect and love was bestowed on Humphrey after his death, when he was given a funeral worthy of a head of state. His body lay in the Capitol rotunda in Washington, and his last rites in Minneapolis were attended by the nation's leaders. President Jimmy CARTER eulogized Humphrey by saying: "From time to time, our nation is blessed by the presence of men and women who bear the mark of greatness, who help us see a better vision of what we can become. Hubert Humphrey was such a man."
Youth and Early Career
Born in Wallace, S. Dak., on May 27, 1911, Humphrey grew up in Doland, S. Dak., where his father ran a drugstore. He dropped out of the University of Minnesota because of the Depression but later (1933) received a degree from the Denver College of Pharmacy. In 1936 he married Muriel Buck. Returning to the University of Minnesota, he graduated magna cum laude with a major in political science in 1939. In 1940 he received a master's degree from Louisiana State University. He also taught at both institutions and at Macalester College. In 1941 he joined the Work Projects Administration in Minnesota.
In 1943, Humphrey ran for mayor of Minneapolis and narrowly lost. He then helped unite the Minnesota Democratic and Farmer-Labor parties, and after their merger in 1944 he became a state party leader. In 1945 he was elected mayor by more than 30,000 votes. While mayor, he secured passage of the nation's first municipal fair employment practices ordinance. He helped wrest control of the Minnesota Democratic Farmer-Labor party from Communist influences and was a cofounder (1947) of the Americans for Democratic Action, a national liberal, anti-Communist organization. In 1947 he was reelected by a record 50,000-vote plurality.
Rise to National Prominence
A delegate to the 1948 Democratic national convention, Humphrey was instrumental, through his evangelical oratory, in having the convention override the platform committee and include President TRUMAN's civil rights proposals in the platform. Humphrey's convention triumph preceded his election to the U.S. SENATE that year and gave him a reputation as a fire-breathing Midwestern liberal.
His Senate record reinforced his liberal reputation. His first legislative proposal was for medical care for the aged (a medicare bill was eventually enacted, in 1965, after Humphrey had become vice president). Although initially he earned the antipathy of his colleagues because of his brashness, he sought the tutelage of another new senator, Lyndon B. Johnson of Texas, and by the end of his first term he had gained the respect of Senate elders. He was reelected in 1954 and 1960. He became assistant majority leader in 1961 and helped win Senate approval of the nuclear test ban treaty of 1963 and of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Although disappointed in his bid for the vice presidential nomination in 1956 and for the presidential nomination in 1960, Humphrey had enhanced his national stature. After Vice President Johnson became president in 1963, Humphrey was the most likely 1964 vice presidential nominee. At the national convention President Johnson appealed for Humphrey's nomination, and the convention chose him by acclamation.
Vice President
Vice President Humphrey served as chairman of several official bodies, including the National Aeronautics and Space Council. He was a prominent spokesman for the administration's legislative program and helped dramatize the administration's efforts to secure civil rights for minorities and to reduce poverty.
Johnson sent Humphrey on many foreign missions, including trips to several Asian nations to explain U.S. positions on the war in Vietnam. At home Humphrey staunchly defended administration policies in Vietnam, and thereby alienated many of his former liberal supporters. He attempted to dissuade "peace" candidate Sen. Eugene McCarthy of Minnesota from challenging Johnson's renomination in 1968.
The 1968 Campaign
After a strong showing by McCarthy in the New Hampshire primary, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy of New York also challenged Johnson. Then, to almost universal astonishment, Johnson announced that he would not run again. Anticipating urban, liberal, labor, university, and business support in all regions, Humphrey announced his candidacy. When Kennedy lost the Oregon PRIMARY to McCarthy, Humphrey's nomination was virtually won. A week later Kennedy defeated McCarthy in California, only to die from an assassin's bullet.
Humphrey held his delegates through a stormy Democratic convention that included a fight over the Vietnam plank in the platform. McCarthy's supporters complained that Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago and other convention officials had managed the proceedings--which had been nearly overshadowed by antiwar protests in the streets--to suit the interests of the Johnson administration and Humphrey's candidacy. Humphrey and his vice-presidential candidate, Maine Sen. Edmund Muskie, set out to restore party unity. Ex-Alabama Gov. George Wallace, a third-party candidate, threatened to cut into the Democratic vote in Northern industrial areas. The country was in a mood for change. Humphrey lost by 1% of the popular vote to Republican Richard NIXON. Humphrey carried 13 states, mostly in the East, and the District of Columbia, for 191 electoral votes. Nixon won 301 ELECTORAL votes, and Wallace 46.
In 1969-1970, Humphrey taught again at Macalaster, before being reelected to the Senate in 1970. He unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1972, and decided not to challenge the front-runner, Jimmy CARTER, for the nomination in 1976. He underwent an operation for cancer late in 1976, but was reelected to the Senate. In 1977 he was elected deputy president pro tem of the Senate, a new position created for him.
Humphrey's cancer proved to be terminal, but he exhibited unusual fortitude and good cheer as he faced the end. He died at his home in Waverly, Minn., on Jan. 13, 1978. His widow was appointed to fill out his Senate term.

But seriously, I love Code Red..its a cherry version of Mountain Dew. I work as a web designer and i do drink a lot of it.
This is exactly why it is wrong for one company to monopolize the industry. If there is a small hole in their OS, then POW! One cleverly programmed virus takes down all the systems. This is why there is diversity in biological life. That way one virus will not wipe out an entire species.
Our company was already hit by a virus called SirCam and we repaired our systems but took an entire day.

Kent said this on another post but I felt it was relevant here:
But on this board - everything which is said or written are monitored from the Watchtower - as they monitor my site and quite a few others as well. Randy Watters' site is one example - and silentlambs site. We would be fools if we believe ANYTHING could be said here without the assholes in Crooklyn knowing about it. And the trolls on the site, and lurkers, try their best to do their job for "Jehovah" by telling what's up.
Personally I like that. I enjoy the fact that the old farts are starting to sweat! I enjoy the fact they can see the truth about the Witchpower being exposed. And I do my best to expose them myself.
Yes we are playing a dangerous game of cloak and dagger. We are the enemy to them and they are the enemy to us, so we spy on each other. We read their literature and they read ours. (the Rank anf ile are not allowed to however)

United States Courts -Judicial Branch Info
by Utopian Reformist inas an employee of the judicial branch of the federal government, i have access to a variety of information systems.
serving as a technology manager, i am familiar with the systems and databases that house public and private legal information.. after 15 years of witness life, i am forced by concern for life and family to rediscover the truth, the real truth.
i am posting this information in order to force people to think; think for themselves, inside their own minds and really get to know their own heart.

The information is easily available to the public. Simply visit your nearest federal building/courthouse (US District Court), and go to the "clerk's office". After having your bags checked and passing thru the metal detectors, the US Marshall's will direct to the correct office. Once you arrive, ask to use the Public PACER computer. PACER (public access court electronic records) is free and you will only be charged a fee for each page you print. Use the National Case Party Index database and perform a search by querying "WATCHTOWER" and watch what happens....The results are amazing and you won't know where to begin.
wow, I may go and do that. I have been to a lot of court houses cus my mom is a translator for the court system.

1975 was the end of 6000 years since Adam's creation. Jehovah's Witnesses were assuming that eve who was created after Adam was created the same year. Evidently she wasn't created till Adam was much older. Perhaps when he was 30 years old which was when I man was an adult by Hebrew law. But I am not going to set a year.
haha so armageddon is comin' in 2005? Cool. I better sell my house and assets and build a bomb shelter.
Eve could not have been created too much longer after Adem was created so we know that we are very close to the end. Any other dates similarly have explinations for why a wrong conclusion was made. This is not false prophesy but simply not having full enlightenment of God's prophetic word the Bible.
or simply not having any grey matter up in that ol' noggin
