Ex-JW atheists
by Vienna ini know there are lots of atheists on the board, so i'm curious what attracted you to becoming a jw in the beginning.
personally, i feel a bond with all ex-jws (and to those of you doubting) since we have gone through the same things.
so my question is not being sarastic, but i'm curious as to why you are where you are.

Comments on other's comments:
and when I showed the elders this, not only did they tear up the copies into little pieces and return them, they went to the local college library and destroyed and defaced the books and journals I had photocopied them from
I worked at a library, and many of our anti-Jw literature mysteriously 'vanished.' I had a hard time ordering crisi of conscience from Interstate library loan because it would always dissapear enroute..I was eventually forced to just buythe silly book.
I made some negative comments during the Watchtower study about the statement back then that the human heart actually could "think" just like the brain (a former JW belief that was later changed by new light when it became apparent how absurd it was).
This is actually an ancient jewish beleif, and is the reason the bible uses the phrase 'what is in the heart' and 'god sees the heart' and 'commits adultery in his heart.' And it's the reason we use similair phrases today. This is clearly disproven by the Dude who just got his heart 100% replaced by a mechanical heart and he didn't all of a sudden cease to think and speak and watch 'Friends.'
I beleive the JW also used this to argue against organ transplants, saying that the organs would transfer over the previous owners thoughts and morals.
anyway I am an athiest only in the judeo-christian sense..I do not beleive that the god of the old and new testament is the 'true' god. I dont know who is. Maybe my cat is. Can you disprove it? Even if you killed my cat I can say he is ruling in heaven over all of us. I can say although he never speaks to em I pray to him every day and that he 'answers' me because I have occasionaly good fortune and this is directly because of hin influence. When bad things happen, I can say it is not my cats fault but that it is the fault of an evil squirrel.
THings such as this (which I posted in an earlier post about adam not being created to live forever) made me doubt the judeo-christian god YHWH.
Deuteronomy 24
16
Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.
2 Kings 14
6
Yet he did not put the sons of the assassins to death, in accordance with what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses where the LORD commanded: "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sins."2 Chronicles 25
4
Yet he did not put their sons to death, but acted in accordance with what is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, where the LORD commanded: "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sins."yet god kills all those poor innocent kids during the flood, and then during the plauqes of egypt.
Exodus 20
5
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me
Deuteronomy 5
9
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.Also this is a favirote:
2
This is what the LORD Almighty says: `I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt.
3
Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy[1] everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.'"Some translations translate the word 'infants' as 'sucklings' meaning these are kids so small they are still breast feeding. What could they possibly do to deserve death by a sword? It gets better:
1 Samuel 15:
But Saul and the army spared Agag and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat calves[2] and lambs--everything that was good. These they were unwilling to destroy completely, but everything that was despised and weak they totally destroyed. They were unwilling to destroy sheep but they were fine killing suckling babies??????
1 Samuel 15:
10
Then the word of the LORD came to Samuel:
11
"I am grieved that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions." Samuel was troubled, and he cried out to the LORD all that night. Now God himself is 'grieved' because they didnt fully destroy everything like he had said. Can you imagine a god pissed because sheep were spared? Small breast feeding babies were slauhgtered by them but all god cares about is the sheep spared.
This is not a god I want to worship.

Vienna,
If they didn't look at those trashy apostate web-sites and read those filthy apostate books then they would not be in that condition right now.Fredhall you are so right. I am going to go wash my eyes with brillo pads and anti-bacterial soap..I feel so dirty :( Fredhall's hairballs are cleaner than the grime and defilement that is the apostate literature I have read.
It is a contamination, a defoedation and soilure upon this earth. An abomination a literary fetor, a decay and putrescence upon us all as a human society. A putrefaction, a vile corruption like a mallicious mold or dry rot upon our very minds.
I mean, totally grody to the max this squalid, lutose, slammocky, and sozzly poison has ruined my sprituality.
What excrementitious filth...what..what was I talking about? Oh yeah! Fredhall's kitty litter man that $%#^ is vile! someone change that stuff before it starts talking!

Questions from JoelBear
For instance, do Lions eat meat because man is sinful?
Well joelbear, let us examine the scriptures.
Genesis 2:
19
Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
20
So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. As you can see, all animals that had ever existed God created then and Adam named ALL of them.
Also note that God originally created animals to eat only salads:
genesis 1:
30
And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food." And it was so.So God intended for animals to eat only the green vegetation and nuts and berries. Well the reason joelbear, that animals later began eating flesh is because they sinned in misleading man. Sure, they say it was just a practical joke, but fooling God's first self-aware bipedal science experiement is not very nice.
Genesis 3:
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made.See? He was crafty. Also note that animals took part in tricking faithful men of old, such as this wiley donkey that slipped stolen silver in this poor man's bag:
Genesis 42:26-28
At the place where they stopped for the night one of them opened his sack to get feed for his donkey, and he saw his silver in the mouth of his sack. Also DOnkey's are clumsy and evil
Numbers 22:27-29 Then the LORD opened the donkey's mouth, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?"
What did he do? I'll tell you what that accursed evil donkey did:
When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she pressed close to the wall, crushing Balaam's foot against it...
Animals new diet since sinning consists primarily of small children:
2 kings 2:
22
So the water has been wholesome to this day, according to the word which Eli'sha spoke.
23
He went up from there to Bethel; and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, "Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!"
24
And he turned around, and when he saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. And two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the boys.So to answer your question joelbear, lions eat meat because of my cat's allignment to the great pyramids in egypt in conjunction with the stock prices of G.O.D. delivery service (goods on demand) and the hairstyles of jennifer aniston as clearly supported by scripture.

Repost from CNN:
N.J. high court rules in frozen embryo case
TRENTON, New Jersey (CNN) -- Attorneys for a New Jersey man are considering whether to go to the United States Supreme Court after New Jersey's highest court ruled Tuesday that he did not have the right to use embryos created through in vitro fertilization without his ex-wife's consent. The court ruled unanimously that the woman, identified only as J.B., had a right not to procreate, which outweighs the right to procreate by the man, identified as M.B.
The court ruled that the divorced father's wish to have the frozen embryos implanted in another woman would make his ex-wife a mother against her will. The justices, however, ruled that the father may decide whether the seven embryos should be kept in storage or destroyed.
Tuesday's ruling was the fourth such action by a state supreme court. Tennessee's high court said embryos in this situation are in limbo between property and personhood and should be afforded "special respect."
The husband wanted them preserved so they could be implanted in a new spouse, but his former wife sought to block that. It was not immediately clear if the husband has remarried.
"M.B.'s right to procreate is not lost if he is denied an opportunity to use or donate the pre-embryos. M.B. is already a father and is able to become a father to additional children, whether through natural procreation or further in vitro fertilization," the court wrote.
"In contrast, J.B.'s right not to procreate may be lost through attempted use or through donation of the pre-embryos. Implantation, if successful, would result in the birth of her biological child and could have lifelong emotional and psychological repercussions," the court added.
The couple went through the in vitro fertilization procedure in 1995, creating 11 embryos. Four were implanted in the woman and the remaining seven were frozen and put into storage.
The couple had a child in 1996 and divorced later that year.
The woman wanted the embryos to be discarded, but her husband disagreed, saying that she had agreed to either have the embryos implanted or donated to other infertile couples.
The ex-husband said he had a moral objection to destroying the embryos.
The court rejected the man's argument that she had entered into a binding oral contract as well as his argument that the couple had gone through in vitro fertilization "to create life."
The woman had stated in previous court proceedings that she "endured the in vitro process and agreed to preserve the pre-embryos for our use in the context of an intact family."
A state appeals court had ordered that the embryos be destroyed, but Tuesday's ruling stated that since the woman did not object, the embryos could be kept frozen if the man would pay the storage costs.
The man and woman have been barred from speaking publicly about the case because they have a child together who judges believed would be adversely affected by the decision.
But Eric Spevak, the man's lawyer, said, "The court said the embryos aren't life. We say,' Well, they're not property, they're not furniture. The reason they did this was because they wanted to have children. It's not ethical. It's not moral to destroy them."
James Katz, an attorney for J.B. said she was thrilled with the ruling.
"We think the decision reaffirms everything that we argued, that parenthood should be a matter of choice not of coercion and that bringing a child into the world is an act of love and should not be bartered in the marketplace."
J.B. is a single mother living in Camden County, N.J. She is raising a second child from a previous relationship. Tuesday's decision affirms a lower court's ruling in her favor.
"If one party changes his or her mind, that party will prevail," Katz said. "We're not going to force someone to become a parent against their will."
Man, we live in crazy times where the lines of morals are so unclear they are hazy like fog.
It's really tough to make a call on issues like dis.

yeah 99% of it is bunk, but like I mentioned in my previous post I have found that my girlfriend is psychis, she is good at what is called 'remote viewing' and this is one that has indeed been reproduced in labs and was found credible enough for the government to to train people in remote viewing to spy on the soviet union. THe program was disbanded after the flal of the iron curtain.
It was called project stargate and took place right here at fort meade maryland. Look it up sometime. Alot of taxpayers were outraged that the government hired psychics and if im not mistaken even the awake in watching the world had a brief blurb about it.
