Ya'll dont believe in God?

i have to ask this although i have a feeling i dont really want to read the responses but anyway.

i talked to several people here today who dont believe there is a god at all.

You really do need to do a little more research, especially about the Bible. For starters, there are many books like it, and it is not the world's oldest holy book by any means.

You will be shocked by what you learn of bible history and how it came to be the way it is today and how it's word was spread. (mostly by the blood of millions of innocent people, not by loving preaching)

I don't necessarily not beleive in God per se, But I definitley do NOT beleive in the Christian God. For example, go read 1 Samuel Chapter 15, and tell me how a God that specifically orders the slaughter of innocent children for the sins of their FORFATHERS is worthy of worship.

Also, about nature. YOu can say that it is too wonderful to happen by chance, that some intelligent life form (god) must have created it all. But then you are left with a logical dillema: God has to be even more complicated than man, and far more intelligent. How did he then, come to be? Who created him? If you answer 'no one, god has just always been' then you have just admitted that intellegent complicated life does not need a creator. Then your 'look at nature' argument just went kaput.

And you also have to try to answer why God would only give his message to a small tribe of desert-dwelling people thousands of years ago. Why did he not give his message and support to all the earth? Why send his son to only that land, and limit his preaching campaign to only that land? Isn't Jesus supposed to be for all mankind?

You also have to answer questions about the bible such as why God has a name in the old testament but no name in the new testament. Don't be overly shocked at athiests, we are just people who see no proof of God. Just as I am not shocked when I meet people who do not beleive in Santa Claus.

consider that jesus married mary magdalene and she was the sister of lazarus.

At the wedding at Cana, they come to Mary to say they have no more wine. Why Mary? She goes to Jesus, and he says "It's not yet my time" what the heck does that mean?

Then he creates enough wine to drown a stable of horses. Is this because the wedding party was great? Is Mary the hostess? Is the wedding that of Jesus himself?

When Jesus goes to raise Lazarus, Mary (Magdalene) is inside 'sitting shiva'. Jesus calls her out and she comes. Only a husband can call a wife out of shiva. And why is Mary sitting shiva? Is she poor? Doubtful if she is to be considered the woman who annoints Jesus with expensive oil. So Mary is likely related to Lazarus.

Jesus is called 'rabbi'. Rabbis had to be married.

When Jesus tells the disciple he loved to take care of his mother Mary, why did he pick this one.

Consider that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and she was the sister of Lazarus. Then the marriage at Cana in which the servants come to Mary (his mother) makes sense, since she would be the hostess. Jesus could then be called rabbi. Mary Madalene would be sitting shiva for her brother. Who wouldn't "have died if you have been here", since he would have saved his brother-in-law presumably. Martha, Mary's sister comes to get him, her brother-in-law. He calls his wife out of shiva. He raises his brother-in-law from the dead. He entrusts his mother to his brother-in-law.

It all fits together, as a family story.

how the hell did they get the whole earth at night when only a certain percentage of earth is facing away from the sun? I'd rather see a true image and not an altered one, like when they artifically color galaxy clusters.

We may be living in one of the most corrupt countries in the world (americans like me) Start opening your eyes and read between the lines.

Numerous eyewitnesses reported seeing two planes at the pentagon attack on 9-11. Also many reported seeing a small white plane follow the plane that crashed in PA. I remember hearing about 2 planes on both crashes during the initial hours of the attack, and then the story changed to only one plane. What the hell's going on here?

Video footage of the plane crashing into the pentagon has not been released even though numerous cameras managed to capture the attack. Why?

Russia has been accused of bombing it's own citizens to stage terrorists attacks so they could invade chechnya. Why the interest in Chechnya? Oil. Lots of Oil. Would the US do something similair to justify a campaign of terror in the middle east?

Conflicts like the Vietnam war illustrate the United States use of it's own blood for simple political goals. Watch the upcoming mel gibson movie, 'We were soldiers' for a good portrayel of how the vietnam 'war' wasted american lives.

I don't have any confidence in the U.S. leadership, and the United States is more and more alienating itself from the rest of world thru insane feoreign relations policies and tactless comments (axis of evil? Evildoers?) It begs for help from world nations yet refuses to allow any say in cases such as the Cuba prisoners. The US says if you dont support them you support terrorists. That's bullshit.

Personally, I am out of this country as soon as I can. Let's not even get started on the religious fanatic atmosphere that has bred some of the world's greatest cults, from mormomns, jehovahs witnesses, scientology, boston movement church of christ, heavens gate and more.

The owner of the world's largest comic book distribution company is a Jehovah's Witness, but a disfellowshiped one. Steve Geppi, owner of Diamond Comics Distributors. It's based in Towson, Maryland. His company makes several hunder million a year.

He owns Superman #1, and lot's of other neat things. I worked there for a while and am best friends with his son, a (yaaaaaaay) former Jehovahs witness who dosent want anything to do with it anymore.

Why Do JW Leave and Want Nothing to Do With God

i find reading this information from different individuals that being a jw and then leaving has people not wanting anything to do with god.

did god tell us to become members of a cult?

i think it is a form of programming that is given over and over that we would be like a dog returning to its vomit.

I won't say theres no god, but I find the judeo-christian god so implausable to say with 100% certainty that he does not exsist.

For example, Why did God (supposedly the one and *only* God, the creator of the *entire* Earth) only dictate His word to one tiny area of the globe? Why not speak to the peoples of *every* culture--dictate His message in the form of other Bibles to the people in other areas of the world? Why did He not inspire ancient Celts to write about Him and His laws and the way He created the world? Why did He not speak to the ancient Chinese or Japanese? Why did He not have scribes write His word in ancient France? The Netherlands? Germany? The North Pole? Why *only* in the small area in the Middle East involving very few now-countries such as Israel, Egypt and Palestine? Why did He not have ambassadors of His word in every human civilization?

And when Jesus was sent to "save" us, why did Jesus not try to travel beyond the small region of the Middle East to save and spread the Word to *all* of the world? If that was simply not feasible (not feasible for the all-mighty God? Let's just say it was...), then why only *one* Saviour in one small part of the world? Why not have a Savior from every major region of the globe--a Celtic Jesus, a Chinese Jesus, a Mexican Jesus, an Australian Jesus, an Icelandic Jesus, etc.? Seems to me that if God was so concerned about getting His Word out to all of His children, He would have taken greater measures (especially considering the lack of communication between most of the world at that time--how did He expect the Chinese or the Australians to learn about His Word and His Son?). Seems awfully isolated for the God of the *entire* world, and it doesn't make any sense to do it that way.

evolution in a nutshell: random mutations that somehow benefit the organism to survive and live long enough to reproduce will be carried on in its offspring, and over time the less successfull 'versions' of the organism die out leaving only the 'enhanced' version.

like a giraffes neck enabling it to reach tall leaves or a whale's fins.

anyway, i just read this cas ein the newspaper about a finnish cross-country skier who won 2 gold medals in the 1964 winter olympics.
