I have been on this "course" for about a year. So, Craig, when we have an ApostoCada fest take a look at some of the meditiation exercises, they are very straightforward, interesting etc. Glen

So then, here's a question...about "meditation"
by onacruse inrecent threads have got me to thinking about this.. i've never "meditated," insofar as i've always understood the term.. i always avoided even trying to "meditate," (and still have a reluctance even to consider doing so) because the wts not-so-obliquely suggested that "meditation" was parmount to 'opening your mind to demons.
' even though i've totally trashed the wts mumbo-jumbo, i still find in my soul a reluctance to embark on such a journey.. kate gave me a different perspective last night.. so, your comments, and especially, your experiences?.

How many of us posters ULC "ministers"?
by Glenmore ini found out recently that both valis and avishai are fellow universal life church people.
maybe we should form a tax-exempt corporation and legally-swindle money from the government like our alma mater (da borg) does?

Satanus, I'm a natural pantheist, so in my book everyone goes to "heaven" whatever that is.
Here's our group of ULC "ordained ministers" so far, by JWD handle :
Avishai - California
ColdRedRain - Minnesotta
Elsewhere - Texas
FreePeace - Florida
Glenmore (aka Deleted) - Oregon
Gumby - California
Nathan Natas - (Afghanistan?)
Qwerty - South Yorkshire, England
Robdar - Missouri
Think41Self - Florida
Valis - Texas
So that makes us the 11 Apostateles! And thanks to Qwerty (and maybe Nathan Natas) we are an International Organization.
And we probably all believe something quite different - isn't that great, Individualism!
I'll email Brother Daniel at the ULC Monastery and see if we can find out if there's more of us. Seriously we could create a ULC XJW chapter - we could have a good laugh over that. (In Estacada Natural Pantheism humor is a serious matter)
Avi, it looks like you are our senior member, how many weddings have you officiated?

Hi Dirt Rocker, great that you're another Portland area (a)post(at)er. We must have a congo's worth now. Welcome and if you do get married there's at least 6 xjwULC ministers who could help you out, at least one for free. Glen

With Valis that's 6, 6 more and we're The Twelve Apostatles!
I have doctorates in Divinity and Metaphysics and I have certificates saying I'm a Saint and a Freethinker. And that clergy badge, and a VHS tape (still in its wrapper). I got quite a bit for $147.

Valis is a (self-proclaimed) Dirty Vicar. I sign the wedding book Father Glen. Avishai is well Avishai I guess. I can see with a piece of property near the Brooklyn Bridge, lads!

I'm not sure why I do this ...
by Glenmore inafter about 18 months "out" (2000) i got myself a minister's license from the universal life church and registered with the local county (clackamas) so i can perform weddings.
originally it was because one of the gals at work was getting married and the fellow she had lined up to officiate backed out.
i thought (at the time) it would be deliciously naughty to "belong" to another "religion" and use my jw training to give a talk - it's kind of like a demo at a service mtg.

Hey O, I miss them too (always liked J,J and J). Sadly I got into a bit of a bust-up with P, it was post-dub and altho' he's gone to our side, I had enough jw-bitchiness to allow a problem to fester. Mea culpa.
Valis. What can I be Overbeer of?

Hey Craig, I had a soul-therapist help me with my psychological problems from leaving the Collective in 1999. He was actually an Adventist deprogrammer. He had to retire, bad ticker, genetic as I recall. He was largely Jungian with heavy native American overtones. It scared me at first. His developing treatment he called "nature centered active imagination" I have some books related to it. The Way of the Shaman being one I reread. We should have a BBQ over here in Estacada before summer's out, you can look at them then and I can tell you more about it. I met my spirit guide and nope I am not joking. It was very helpful. But I couldn't handle some of it and I backed out. It was my first year "out", I was swaying in many directions and still had implants that reacted the jw way. I am better now so I think I could handle the trip again. Alternatively really really good weed and some reliable 'shrooms will do wonders. Glen
