How much harm have you caused your congregation?
by Joker10 inhow much harm did you cause to the people in your congregation?
everybody complains how the witnesses did this and that and in the process caused so much harm.
but what you don't say is how much pain you caused others while you were in.

Joker,
Your entire post made me tired. I suppose in the end it would be up to the individual person to define "harm". As my father likes to say, accidents don't happen, they are caused. Harm doesn't work the same way because it is such a personal thing. What may cause great harm to me would not do the same to you and vis versa.
On top of that how are some of the friends who post here supposed to know for sure when their families and/or congregations won't speak to them.

Problem recieving Watchtower & Awake "again"
by Dolllie ini posted earlier in the summer about some "racist" witnesses who told me that i could not recieve the watchtower & awake magazines, or attend the kingdom hall, because i was black & blacks were not able to understand the bible, "it was not for them".. i wrote a letter to the watchtower society & got a response!.
i moved out of that immediate area, a couple of towns(about 40 minutes away).
i contacted the watchtower society after moving here to have someone bring me the watchtower & awake.

3rd generation borg once removed...I have never ever even seen something close to racisim. My local congregations are 80% African American. My best friend gowing up in the borg is African American. I think this poster is trolling.

Why oh why did Joker have to hit my biggest nerve. I am so sad and yet filled with hope that some day my dreams can be fullfilled and I can be good enough to see it all come true.
I am and will forever remain....
A Cub fan.

by run dont walk inhttp://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/77810/1.ashx
thought i would post this, if you are having any computer problems, strange windows popping up, computer saying you have errors (that you probaly don't have), or if you have picked up viruses, try downloading spyboy search and destroy, fixed my computer, i almost went out and bought a new one, now its like having a new computer.. and most important the program is free !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
takes about 15 minutes to run the whole program, found over 900 errors the first time i ran it, now my computer is a 1000 x faster and no stupid errors popping up when on the internet.. anybody else use this program ??????

Be careful when using Ad-Aware especially with XP. I can run it here at home but I ran it at work on one of the computers and it crashed. Since I am the IT person...all my fault. We use a T3 line and many programs that hook up into our main frame which is in NJ. Gotta be very careful where you use it.

What grammatical errors bug you the most?
by poppers infor me it's the use of : .
it's as a possessive - it's means "it is", so if you don't want to say "it is" don't use the apostrophe.
there are others that bug me but this one is the worst.

Know and now, there and their, hear and here
On behalf of myself....you are already doing it when you are speaking
Continue on to...you continue to
your and you're...this one has been beaten to death in the thread
cakes are "done" people are "finished"
less vs fewer is probably my biggest pet peeve There are fewer people here this week at the Watchtower study. There is less water in my glass.
But honestly I only correct my son and hubby. Hubby doesn't care for it. Son is rolling his eyes as I type.

how we get trapped!
by the mole inmy dad and i spoke over lunch the other day about our religion.
he told me that he bumped into two of my cousins who are pioneers at the auburn congregation..he told them he was disapointed and was not invited to their party...after he told me his conversation with them he repeatedly kept on saying "the truth".
i finally corrected him and told him that was one of the ways to suppress him buy using words like that to inflict guilt and that there is no other truth when there is.

I caught myself doing that the other night in a conversation with my sister. It sounded so odd coming out of my mouth. I agree with you.

What if the tables were turned
by Iforget inhow about if when a member continues to be a jw you shun them?
cut off all communication unless it's an emergency and if they do try and contact you berate them with guilt and fear of death.
i suppose i already do that because i don't really see my parents all that often and when i do i keep it superficial.

Still...how would they feel if every conversation we berated their choices just like they do to us. Every time we saw them we made them feel like an outcast. Made them feel guilty.
Oh that's right we aren't allowed to do that or have an opinion because they are right.
