has anyone had this experience?.
after letting go of my beliefs as a jw, i felt the only alternative was to be atheist.
or maybe it is just logical to there is no god when i am only listening to my mind and not my heart.
Hi Dobby, even before I started studying with the JW's I had faith in God & Jesus. When I started studying I was thinking "right on" the truth, now I can get to know God even better. But then I began having doubts & started asking questions. Boy can those JW's be evasive, so I started doing my own research. That's how I can across this board. I also came across some things I hadn't been told about, one of them being the (8?)failed predictions by the WTS about the "end of times" and after looking into the scriptures about FALSE PROPHESY. I have decided that this organization is also based on lies. But I haven't lost my Faith in the Father or the sacrifice of his life that Jesus made to save us from our sins. I still believe that one day there will be a "New Heavens" and a "New Earth" that the meek shall inherit :)
it goes something like this jesus is speaking "beware of false prophets and those speaking of the "end of times" i read it yesterday but forgot to write it down.
i think it's in john?
does anybody know what i'm talking about?
Luke 21:8 that's the one. Thanks, I was starting to think I dreamed it. LOL

Thanks, those are great but the one I'm looking for mentioned either the "end of times" or the "time of the end"

yesterday at the book study it was brought out that people simply cannot understand the bible without the societies interpretations.. i have been pondering some scriptures and asked my teacher this:.
who is paul speaking to in 1 thess, and how do you explain chapter 4, verses 13-18. well she answered the first part of my question but waffled on the second.
i'll have to do some research, was the response.

The survivors along with the resurrected ones will "be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in the air" simple.
today's christianity today carries this article about the familiar "house to house".
christianity today, week of april 22. do evangelicals still go door-to-door?.
successful evangelism strategies have added new components to the traditional model of home visitation.. by todd hertz | posted 04/24/2002.
I think it's rude also, to just "show-up" on someones doorstep unexpected. Even my family doesn't do that. It's a matter of respect.
i have been studying with the jw's for several years.
they have been pressuring me to become one of them, but something seems to be holding me back, instinct maybe?
i agree a lot of their teaching are good, and i'm sure are the truth but here are a few of the things that bother me: jw's use the scripture hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the gathering of yourselves together...... to justify their meetings.
Dear You Know, Ok my powers of reason tell me, there is so much contradiction in the doctorines of the JW's that I should run like h***. For example in 1931 JW's claim to be "inspired" in 1952 they claim not, in 1964 they claim yes, in 1969 no........and on it goes. Yes, I agree Jesus did send out diciples town to town, house to house, but did they keep coming back if somebody said they weren't interested? If the Sabath is null please explain Hebrews 4:9.

Good points Metatron, I hadn't even thought of those. Thanks for bringing it to my attention :)

Hi Bona Dea, I'll be looking forward to hearing more :)
