GB Bodyguards

i have heard that at the international conventions and even at us headquarters, the governing body travel with entourages or bodyguards.

does anyone know this to be a fact?

if so, why?

I remember while at Bethel when they were having the huge apostate protest they have every year right around lunchtime, Brother sidled wasting ready to walk from 25-30 Columbia Heights down to Standish wish is the complete other end of the block. Myself and a few other young pathetic brothers were so concerned thinking these crazy lunatic apostates would try to kill him... (how fucking Lame)

Anyway we saw him getting ready to go and in a panic began to ask and in some sense beg to protect him He responded with something along the lines that even if they did do something he was going to heaven anyway and he walked solo to the other building... no bodyguard.

My room mate was brother Schroders(sp) caretaker and travelled with him wherever he went to tend to his needs. Helped him up and down the stairs for the stage. Carried things for him etc.. He was like 5 foot 6 and not a protector type. No bodyguards or anything like that.

Having Faith in the Bible

i know many on here have lost faith in the bible , is it possible that is because ones do not have the right perspective regarding it .

we have usually been taught by bad teachers , or ignorant .

i believe if we take an honest look at the bible , we will see that it gives us the best answers to crucial matters , it gives us some amount of bearings ( understanding ) , which without having such knowledge we would all be more like walking zombies in amanner of speaking , we would be lacking hope in something better , for surely something better is to come , how can we be sure , .

I was like you for a while after I left. I could not except the fact that the bible was not from GOD. Then I sat down one day and really read the book of Judges. It opened my eyes to the fact that the bible is really nothing more than a cool novel at best. After deeper research I realized that every so called moral lesson in the bible was pretty much borrowed from somewhere else.

It takes time. Just keep reading with an opened mined and think of all those people that had no access to the bible for millennia and ask why god didn't care enough to let them have that same wonderful novel.

How many here gave up having a family for the sake of the "truth"?

this is a sensitive topic for many of us i know, but i am wondering how many here actually gave up the idea of having a family "in this system" for the sake of "kingdom activity or service"??.

its funny you mention this. TODAY i went to the post office and as I got to the door I saw a brother who was an elder with me in my old congregation.I remember him and his wife (both in their early 50's) always used on those parts about giving things up for the org. They both have been pioneering since they got married. Theyeven said in confidence o me how badly they wanted to have kids but would have 12 in the new system.

He is fully gray-headed and honestly a nice brother. Anyway he gets to the door and there is a 30 something there with a 3 year old. He held the door for her and sat there playing with her daughter... Knowing what I know about him I feel so bad because I believe he honestly would be a good dad.

there was a statue outside the rhodes university.

a 30 year old black student then threw his pooh on the statue and that got the ball rolling to pull the statue down.

I don't think they are blaming Cecil Rhodes for what is happening on the ground today. I would think that a statue to honor one of the most deplorable men in history whose policies ushered in a legal system that was one of the most oppressive and bigoted in history should never have been erected in the first place. It should be brought down out of respect for the people who had their nation, their generational land, their rights as human beings, as well as their culture taken from them.

I do not think we would even have a discussion as to wether or not a statue of: Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Pol Pot, Osama Bin Laden etc should be removed out of respect for the people that they tortured. It is also hard for people to move on so to speak when it seems that the government and society as a whole feel that somehow this evil men are in someway worthy of honor. I will end my thoughts here because I know these kinds of topics tend to get out of hand.

i wonder if people like Cecil Rhodes and Leopold II and those that shared their imperialistic ideas had never set out to control all the resources of Africa and to obliterate and enslave the people on that continent if any of this would be happening right now.

Not to excuse it the rioting because it is deplorable, but think of it this way. The last time a group of foreigners came into the country with plans of big business and making money of the indigenous people what ensued. Slavery, apartheid, oppression etc... etc...

So maybe they just do not want outsiders regardless of color creeping in to possibly recreate the exact same circumstance. Surely it is easy for one on the opposing side to call that poppycock but when you are on the side who has seen it happen it probably isn't.

I have close friends who are from South Africa, the experiences that they had are more than enough to make me not want to visit certain areas.

This statue has come under fire prior to this recent incident, although the previous anger did not involve throwing of poop. 21 years is not a long time at all I might add.

When the so-called "democracy" was ushered in they had far larger things to worry about than the statute. Maybe now is the time it has come around. look at the situation with gay rights that has just taken off in the most recent decade. Why was it not taken up before with the same zeal? I am sure no one would push that "complacency" in the face of gay rights activists who are currently fighting for said rights.

Truthfully the poo that was thrown was disgusting, yet nowhere near as bad as the shit -filled legacy of that monster Cecil Rhodes. He was a demon and no one in the 20th century should see any reason to have the name or image of such a vile figure gracing anything.

Let's take a second and imagine that somehow Isis continues to destroy the monuments and temples and history of the nations that it passes through. It destroys cultures and landmarks in the middle east and after 20 years there is virtually no proof that ancient cities like Numrud exited or any signs of the Egyptians etc...

Then Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi erects an immense statue to himself and sets up a university by donating the land that he stole from people already living there. Somehow after 100 plus years the world gets together and destroys Isis and returns the land to its people. Would you be upset if you saw a native Egyptian or Iraqi hurl poop at that statue and call to have it destroyed.

Cecil Rhodes and his kind are just as bad if not worse than Isis. It just doesn't appear to be so when we are not on the receiving end of the brutality that he caused

the judgment against watchtower on the cause of action for punitive damages is reversed with directions to enter judgment for watchtower on punitive damages.

This does mean however that the 7 million in compensatory damages for candace is still going to be awarded to her so there is still a hit to the Watchtower bank account. Granted it is only 1/4th the expected amount but a loss for the watchtower is a loss for Watchtower

I would think for many black South Africans it is similar to having a statue of Hitler in Jerusalem.

Cecil Rhodes was truly a disgusting man if you look at the things he did and they way he felt toward the native peoples of the continent. I may be wrong here but wasn't Hitler sympathetic to this guys feelings because Rhodes also had this intense love for the Aryans and hatred of everyone else? It has been awhile since I read anything about this guy but he really was a disgusting man.

As for Ghandi, most people like to remember Ghandi as this lovable fasting pacifist but again he also held the same racist feelings for the kaffirs" that most people did during his time and prior. History has a way of letting us forget about the filthy pasts of people and only the positive things that they have done.

Like you said Shaka Zulu killed tens of thousands of Africans, which is also deplorable. This young person not throwing poop on Shaka Zulu yet being upset with the white guy and the indian guy is probably the same reason you would bring up the black guy as an alternate example. I am sure if South Africa was always under the control of the native peoples that statue of a murderous Caucasian who hated Africans would never have been there because of the obvious pain it would have caused.

That young man should pay for his actions of poop throwing. Regardless of how painful that edifice of a notoriously hateful and bigoted man makes him or any one else.

LOL these comments are killing me LOL. Unfortunately though, I find out this morning that she was not the only one. That one other sister came to the elders after the memorial crying and stated that she has "THE CALLING" but did not want to stumble any of the friends because of her past so she wanted to request that she partake of the emblems after the other friends were gone in a private room.

Where is this religion going???

It would appear that the rate of anointed increase is greater than the number of publishers per congregation.

When I was an elder we had a sister who was known for providing oral pleasures to some people in the congo. I was on the committee. This girl for some odd reason was put on public reproof 4 times for the same thing. She then married a brother twice her age and they instantly began having problems because they were not having intercourse anymore and she began to once again have a roving eye. She is currently 28 and her husband 50.

2 years ago she was thanking about stopping the pioneer work and I encouraged her to continue. I sat in on her and her husbands family study up until 7 months before I left.

I get a call from a confused elder a few minutes ago and he says she partook tonight and she is of the anointed. I guess Jesus needs those professionals in the new system. ROFL
