we saw it in ny city about 10 years ago.. it is awesome.
.
one of my favorite experiences in the theatre ever.. rub a dub.
I saw it in Los Angeles twice. Once with Michael Crawford an the other with Robert Guillaume (sp?) as The Phantom.

the new world translation (nwt) is published by the watchtower bible and tract society.
this is the organization that jehovahs witnesses belong to.
IMO, any version is as good as the other... they all are copies of copies... with added and deleted stuff over centuries of copying and copying.. I do not see whats the big deal; not a single page is an original and I am referring to the oldest 'copies' available...
Therefore every single person who places his faith and life in this book is doing so on the copies of copies of flawed and imperfect men over thousands of years...
Statements with no supporting proof are assertions.
But if you need an emotional or spiritual crutch to make sense out of your own lives, well I guess any copy is as good as the other... although I pity those whose self esteem is so low that they need reassurances from the myths of nomadic tribes from yesteryears... to each their own.
Ad hominem.
appearing in our news today is this item which may, or may not, lay the conspiracy theories to bed.
us investigators solve 9/11 mysteryaugust 22, 2008, 8:32 am.
ap [enlarge photo]us investigators say they have solved the mystery of the collapse of world trade centre building seven in the september 11 attacks.. the 47 storey trapezoid sat north of the world trade centre towers, across vesey street in new york city's lower manhattan.. on september 11, it was set on fire by falling debris from the burning towers, but sceptics have long argued that fire and debris alone should not have brought down such a big steel and concrete structure.. scientists with the national institute of standards and technology say their three year investigation of the collapse determined the demise of wtc seven was actually the first time in the world a fire caused the total failure of a skyscraper.. "the reason for the collapse of world trade centre seven is no longer a mystery," said dr shyam sunder, the lead investigator on the team.. investigators also concluded that the collapse of the nearby towers broke the city water main, leaving the sprinkler system in the bottom half of the building without water.. the building has been the subject of a wide range of conspiracy theories for the last seven years, partly because the collapse occurred about seven hours after the twin towers came down.
Ok, I've got to get this off my chest. I'm am friggin sick and tired of people pigeon-holing anyone who disagrees with the official 911 story as being a "conspiracy theorist", to all of you on this board doing so, shame on you. Why? Because you could all be branded by the same bloody name, for having seen through the WTS lies, oh wait, it would be "apostate" not "conspiracy theorist", big diff . Weren't you all at one time shaking your head and saying, this doesn't add up in regards to the WTS? It doesn't make logical sense? Admist many others telling you that you were the one who had the problem, you weren't thinking clearly?? Ring a bell to anybody?
I'm not a "conspiracy theorist" whatsoever, but I do know bullshit when I see it. And I'm sorry, the amount of bullshit the US government has disclosed as fact regarding 911 is painfully obvious to anyone with a brain! How can any of you explain that the collision into the Pentagon left not one skidmark on the grass in front of the building, just a big hole, no damage from the wings, zip? If you consider yourself a logical person and don't find that odd, good luck to you. The fact that they found passports of the terrorists yet no bodies whatsoever could be recovered? Are you kidding me? LMAO
You all just keep buying the official "story" into what happened and who was responsible without even bothering to personally research basic facts. If it was impossible to recover bodies, it would be impossible to find a PAPER PASSPORT, but it is darn convienent isn't it? So before you all jump on me for how I'm a "conspiracy theorist" remember this, it was the ability to question the "official story" that lead many of us to leave the borg. Don't be hating because I continue or others continue to question what does not seem to them to be logical or plausible. Thanks!
Sniff, sniff, sniff. Anyone else smell the distinct odor of hypocrisy here?
do you have to believe in trinity, arianism, or other christ based concept etc to be saved?.
is believing jesus to be the messiah and following the model set forth in scripture enough?
or does one have to understand accurately the 'nature, essence, etc" of things..... if so why?
What a nice assertion, now how about some proof? In its essence, Christianity is very much a "textual" [as oppsed to primarily ritualistic] religion. Of course, Christianity has its rites and rituals. But, ultimately this religion claims its legitamacy based almost solely on its texts, on its scriptures. In my opinion, the problem with Christianity is that the texts or scriptures, upon which it is based are extremely problematic. To use a rather trite metaphor, it is all merely a "house of cards." The scriptural basis of Christianity is an illusion, a chimera. It is a bricolage, a patchwork, of disjointed and inherently contradictory texts. The very notion of which scriptures are "canon" [and are thus to be considered legitimate or authorized] is itself extremely problematic. That decision was made many hundreds of years ago by a very small group of men who exerted great socio-political and cultural power.
Just what I thought, baseless assertions with no proof.
the last talk at the convention was about serving loyally with jehovah's spirit-directed organization.
i had such a hard time sitting through it.
even last year i actually enjoyed it.
The elderly do not know what to think but are told to "trust in Jehovah". No wonder this religion is going nowhere.
From time to time I speak with my dad, and I have found that he is becoming resentful towards the Borg. The resentment is never in his words, but in his tone. He is a man that bypassed a promising career in baseball and several lucrative business deals in order to become a JW and to reach the status of Elder, and eventually substitute C.O. before health problems retired him from those duties.

Wow! Guy Pierce is a JW? Here I thought he was just an actor.

Yes and no. This seems to be the case with most foundational Christian doctrines. There is only one way to be saved, that is by grace through faith in the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus Christ. There is no systematic doctrine that you must go through in order to become a Christian, however, as you grow in the knowledge of God, then youshould come to understand that Jesus was God manifested in the flesh.
i have finally finished an article outlining the deceptive way in which the watchtower presents its anti-trinitarian information.
any constructive criticism such as regarding errors that may have crept in is welcome.
since i cannot embed a page i hope entering the html code works, otherwise it can be read at http://jwfacts.com/index_files/trinity.htm.
JWFacts,
Great post! It was this very issue, the deceptiveness of the WT, and their deliberate misrepresentations of the Trinity that prompted me to begin questioning everything else that they taught as Scriptural.
